    Did Acitivison pay you to say WoW was the best MMORPG? BfA was a train wreck. Shadowlands hasn't been out long enough to truly rate it. As somebody that played WoW for a long time, and still plays WoW periodically, I can honestly say that FFXIV is better in almost every way.

    Well the players got it right. TESO won this year hands down. The staff of this website shouldn't bother making their own awards and just have a players choice which they themselves can participate in. Their opinion holds no more value than each of ours.

    No idea but if you're going to casually question the integrity of the staff here for having their own opinion just because you have a boner for your waifu and they don't, well hell, the integrity of a 3 post gamergater like you is definitely on the table.

    Honestly, the choices here are better than the player's choice ones. Namely because they actually have an RPG in the best RPG category.

    Huniepop is more of an RPG than Assassin's Creed.

    Interesting list, happy to see final fantasy up there, certainly deserves it. (not zchilling)

    Basically clicking away text windows ruins every MMO, try to have fun instead of rushing things. Without story and lore all there is left is a bunch of mechanics.

    I assume the guy who thinks the site got payed for WoW 1st is over at Players Choice telling them they got payed for ESO being the best MMO? How many top MMOs do posters think are out there that could possibly get the award, I can only think of five; it is likely that each year they get an award somewhere in the gaming world.

    My only nitpick with the choices is that Magic isn’t an mmo. Though I understand with the popularity of the IP why many would be excited.

    CK3 is an amazing game with a lot of deep role-playing elements. Just goes to show that genre hybrids have blurred lines and deep meaty games won't be boxed in by arbitrary labels. That game is way bigger than a single genre label.

    Can you imagine if Cyberpunk 2077 had the depth of CK3?

    People are so smitten with graphics that they don't even notice the shallow gameplay 

    Like the fact that the entire premise of Cyberpubk 2077 is evil corporations manipulating every facet of society... how many corporations can players actually interact with in game?...

    The CK franchise is a series of grand strategy games. That genre has always been deeper, and more complex than most other gaming genres. They share that with 4X tactical space conquest games.

    The latest version has good RPG added to it but that hasn't been unique in non-RPG genres for many years: pretty well every gaming genre has added RPG elements with personalities that evolve and can be leveled, etc.

    Honest to goodness RPG games may seem shallow by comparison but that's just because they're not also 4X games.

    Personally, I used to love complex strategy games when I was younger but the micromanagement bloat got to me and I don't want much to do with them these days... YMMV.

    Looking over the last one after another i saw discrepancies in the choices.

    1 biggest disappointment..so we are saying that we thought the game was going to be aamazing?lol there hasn't yet been one even decent super hero game so what made anyone think this would be any different?
    2 Most anticipated Magic Legends ,i guess people haven't paid attention to what that Ip has produced in the past?Then not to mention you can bet 100% there will be a heavy monetization.More importantly ,i have not heard a SINGLE person talking about it ANYWHERE..lmao so where did this MOST anticipated derive from?

    3 Best persistent.This is a funny one because i nessence EVERY game is a persistent game,every game can last as long as you want it to.However this is NOT what we consider to be a persistent world,it is a world that restarts and plays like an instance so NO it does not belong in this category.
    4 Most improved.Ok so why is this one such an oddball choice?Easy for the last umpteen years so many have been bragging about it ,so to claim it is most improved would garner the assumption it wasn't so good after all and needed improving.I have not played it in quite some time but i very highly doubt this is a most improved.

    If anything the ONLY game i have heard mention of improvement is a game i don't even like "WOW.I have heard many a player claim the recent work is giving them hope again,suggesting an improvement.I have not heard even a whimper of anyone saying,BDO is so improved i can't wait to get back in.
    5 Best RPG .Now this one makes SOME sense,it is not even close on my list as of right now i have been playing FFV on two different machines not caring at all about FF7.Nonetheless this choice has some merit.The only reason this choice remains like the rest a very sketchy selection is because all the fuss has been over Valhalla and genshin.
    6 Best mmorpg.Ok much like FF7 i can see the merit here because YES i have heard many a Wow fanbois claim this is better work than previous work.However fact remains if i had a choice i would still play FFXI or FFXIV over Wow.

    Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

    So a couple choices i can live with the rest are like WTF choices.I never thought the day i would say i am ok with Wow winning any award but such is the case when mmorpg's have sunk so low that Wow can earn some accolades over other choices.

    Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
