Wasn't SQ42 a single-player narrative spinoff that was supposed to be released well before Star Citizen proper? Now the Star Citizen playable alpha is being touted as a way to get your hands on the building blocks of SQ42?
Gonna make a bold prediction now just for fun so I can check back later: Squadron 42 released in 2024 to a Metacritic of around 70, Star Citizen official launch in 2029 to a Metacritic of around 70.

When do you think you will get to play the released version of SC, Babu? Any time frame that you are personally working with?
Been playing and enjoying it since 2013, SQ42 when it's ready.
The more people hate it the better it gets.
Carry on.
I probably did not make my question clear, sorry.
I mean when do you personally believe you will get to play the officially released Star Citizen...not a pre-alpha, alpha, beta or early access, but basically the version 1.0.
Oh you did. Star Citizen is playable since 2013. It's literaly been available to play while it's being updated like every other early access game.
A released game is not the same as a finished game nowadays.
Err, nice redirect, no a released game is one where progression is permanently retained, doesn't have anything at all to do with being finished, which never applied to online MMORPGs.

No, I actually read it, its about roadmaps and not about SCs relative “succes.” So you’re the one in the wrong thread with your visual vomit trying to divert attention to big numbers and all that. Don’t BS me Unicorn Boy, you do this in every single thread concerning anything CIG and you actively and purposely try to undermine and ruin any conversation about the subject. And I’ll stop right here not to ruin the Christmas spirit because this is the nicest I have to say about it.

It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'

This is about SQ42. But thanks.
It is an automated response. You cannot expect it to be accurate to the context
Hmmm, perhaps I should start calling him Pavlov Boy instead of Unicorn Boy.
Or perhaps its his Out of Office reply? Would be harsh to make him work during the holidays.

As much as it seems to cause haters disconfort seeing Star Citizen and Squadron 42 yearly progress and funding records while putting down unicorns they are intrinsicaly connected and benefit from each other.
Enjoying SC and eagerly following SQ42 which ill be ready when it's ready.

Pretty hardcore stuff, right? I said an official release meaning a Star Citizen version 1.0 that can be sold to consumers without disclaimers that its not finished.
I said not an alpha. The version he supposedly plays is literally called “alpha 3.12“.
Poor guy.
Hopefully Star Citizen will never be finished so such disclaimers are unlikely.
Also, releasing a 1.0 version doesn't guarantees the game is finished or in a proper state.

RSI did not show any progress to Squadron 42 this year. All we got was roadmap that disappeared for 9 months, and then came back showing the project had regressed during that period.

Seven years is a long time. There arent many games that kept me interested for this long. How many hours do you think you have put in over this time period? What activities have you spent most of this time on in SC?
Couple of thousands probably. Spent the very first years racing and dogfighting. Now in the Persistent Universe I mostly do trading and mining with the ocasional bounty hunting and investigation missions.
My main focus is still of a game tester first and player second as to help the games development while not burning out doing it.

Actually in all likelihood I have a lot more Crowdfunding experience than you do. I have backed many many games as well as other items and products. Having a wide breadth of experience is actually IMHO a more valid experience than someone who only has experience with one thing. As they say, you don't know what you don't know.
The Roadmaps should be targeted to those of us that have paid and supported the game. If I am not a target then this is another failure but as someone who has expressed an extraordinarily myopic view I honestly do not expect you to understand that. It's OK. The rest of us do.

Doesn't make me a hater, a troll a unicorn or any other stupid attempt to dismiss valid criticism.
And that's ok. Crowdfunding, like game development is not for everyone. If you're not interested in those and only care about the finished thing you're not the target of roadmaps of development news.
Your experience is not as valid of mine but your pledge money is.
A hater, troll or unicorn spawner is not a state of being but a reaction to a circunstance.
A game is being developed either way.
People should only support the game with the understanding that it will be done when its done and its alpha testing right now. Its going to take a couple years from now to really shine. Try to get a refund and leave the rest of the backers alone to allocate their money where they desire. Many crowdfunded games have different approaches, Star Citizen's approach doesn't seem appealing to you.
Comments
No wonder Star Citizen community is so awesome. It's complexity ensures sustainable auto-regulation obliterating redundancies
All the noise and useless ignorant drama just dissipates in the vastness of space fun empowering it's core.
Rinse & Repeat
Gonna make a bold prediction now just for fun so I can check back later: Squadron 42 released in 2024 to a Metacritic of around 70, Star Citizen official launch in 2029 to a Metacritic of around 70.

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'

Or perhaps its his Out of Office reply? Would be harsh to make him work during the holidays.

Enjoying SC and eagerly following SQ42 which ill be ready when it's ready.
Everyear better than the last one!
Rinse & Repeat
Also, releasing a 1.0 version doesn't guarantees the game is finished or in a proper state.

My main focus is still of a game tester first and player second as to help the games development while not burning out doing it.

good luck Mr Blobbers, a lot of works awaits!
Squadron 42 will have to wait. And wait. And wait.....
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
Hard to compare the 2:
One is basically an Indie company with a smallish staff and the other has brought in hundreds of millions of dollars.
