Owned it on PS4. About 50 hours into the game before my refund hit. I was disappointed. I had some fun, but for me, I have a lot of crashes, bugs and poor performance on basic PS4. The game felt wonky to me. I decided to refund and try again when I get a PS5 and the game is on sale for around 30$. I feel there is lots of potential, but by the feel of the game, I dont know if they can get it to feel like a smooth running, bug free experience.
So you run a bunch of articles saying that the game is terrible because of this, that, and the other, and then the review calls it a 9/10?
They way they do it is that they have different people review the game and the review is based on "their" experiences. So the complete opposite can also be true.
They don't ask you to skew the review at all, they just ask you to review it and you are free to do it as you see fit.
Can you show an example where complete opposite happened on this site?
Because for as long as I remember mmorpg scores were 2 points higher than average - which is again what happened here.
But again if you read the complains in part 1 and part 2 - it is obviously not a 9/10 review.
Its as if whatever was written has zero influence on the score - they could have said - this is the most broken AAA game ever and still given it a 9/10
This review exposes mmorpg.com reviews as a complete farce
The point is that the reviewer is not told what review they should do so "anything can happen."
I did a few reviews for the sister site (though I don't think it's a sister site any longer as Suzy and Bill now run it) and they just gave me a copy of the game and said have at it.

I have honestly enjoyed this game on the series x I have not had any crashes a few times I died for reasons unknown maybe I am oblivious to the bugs but for me it has been fun. i might give it a 8/10 as there is not enough rpg stuff but other than that the game is fun I thought that was the measuring stick is it fun.
I've been playing on PC, taking my time. I agree with the review score. I would give Cyberpunk 2077 a 9/10 as well. Certainly doesn't live up to the pre-launch hype, but it is a very fun game.
Is pointing out corporate lies, and reviews about unfinished games that get 9/10 against your religion or something?
You did all that in one post, but half the posts on this thread are by you, repeating the same things and adding nothing new. We all heard you the first time. You seem to get offended by anyone posting an opinion that doesn't align with yours. You hate the game, we get it. However, this is a polarizing game. It's not all good. It's not all bad. Some people like the game. Others dislike it. Your crusade to shout down everyone that likes the game implies that this game somehow traumatized you.

Sadly he has lost all objectivity completely and has now found himself in the company of those "individuals" who defend SC endlessly on these forums, as if repeatedly posting the same things somehow makes them more true.
To be fair I do not believe the reviewer plays many PC games so I think his expectations were set by the PS4 stuff.
Probably, I play on the PS4 so my review would be about a 6 because it isn't "bug-free" if I was able to run it on a high end PC im sure my opinion would change. To be honest its a completely different gaming experience which is really unfortunate
They gave Fallout 76 7/10 so what did you expect from them?
9/10 It's laughable.
No, what is laughable, and always will be, is people that do not, and can not apparently, understand a review is one person's opinion.
Just do a simple google search to find reviews that agree with your own opinion, if that is all you can understand...they ARE out there :P
Quoted for truth. These constant games of "my opinion is better then yours because of arbtrary reason X and I have found some like minded videos online to prove it" is getting really tiring. People don't sound like critics, they sound petty and anal.

So you run a bunch of articles saying that the game is terrible because of this, that, and the other, and then the review calls it a 9/10?
Perhaps they're saying that its best to play it before judging it based on what other people are saying? /shrug
A review that amounts to, "we have no idea whether the game is any good or not and think you should pay $60 and spend some hours playing it to find out" is a terrible review.
I'm saying that either a bunch of previous articles about problems were massively overblown or else a 9/10 is way too high of a rating. It's possible that it's just a difference of opinion, as the people who wrote the other articles think the game is awful and the reviewer thinks it's great. But it's weird for a site to have the news section fighting with the review section like that.
Read the review...it is stated plainly more than once, that the reviewer had no issues in their gameplay and enjoyed the game very much.
What were they supposed to do? Review it from reviews? Which was ALSO stated in the review.
A review is one person's opinion, and one person's gameplay. That is all a reviewer could, and should, base their opinion on.
Considering all the issues with this game and it's severe lack of content (doing the same side missions over & over is not content), How much did CDPR pay this site to get that score?
I think when it comes to smaller games that are not tied to ad revenue on this site - sure what you say correct.
Do you think they would have let just anyone do a review of the most anticipated game of the decade and let them score it 7/10?
How much ad revenue in the last month was from Cyberpunk 2077 on this site?
So tinfoil hat. Sure it's not beyond imagination but it also seems the fallback for gamers who don't like things that don't align with their world view: "they must have gotten paid."
As he said at the start:
Looking at the discourse across the internet, it’s clear that I had very different expectations regarding storytelling in Cyberpunk 2077. I simply was not expecting the same depth in story nor characters as Witcher 3 simply because CD Projekt RED stated that Cyberpunk 2077 would feature a shorter main story.
Now I myself didn't expect different because of them saying the main game was shorter, but I also take games for "what they are at launch" as opposed to anything I've read or heard before launch.
Unless you or anyone can prove that that they took money and that his experience is disingenuous?
The problem with these reviews is that people want to read them as 'one size fits all' and that reviewers are going to praise or rail against things that the reader finds important or issues.

Some people, one person in particular who I think cant understand the 9/10 rating, has a real hate on for it. It's comical. Post after post trying to explain that it's really a 7/10.
Just because a game has a few negatives doesn't mean it brings the score down to 0/10 or 7/10. The pro's of the game far out way the cons. The review is accurate and valid. No conspiracy theories as to why it was scored a 9/10 needed.
It's worth pointing out that the game has 2 separate crafting systems: gear and weapons crafting and quickhack crafting.
I honestly couldn't tell you whether weapon/gear crafting is bad or not because I haven't touched it. I'm not a crafter. When I do craft in games it's only because the available gear without crafting is sub-standard compared to the crafted gear and that just isn't the case here with the (over?)generous loot system that keeps you well geared through drops as you level. To me that crafting system is useless but I don't say that because it's bad or tedious or unrewarding - IDK if it is - I say it because I have never felt a need to use it.
Quickhack crafting is a whole different story though. To begin with, it's not even part of the Technical Ability perk tree where all other crafting resides. It is based on Intelligence. That itself is a great design choice since using those quickhacks is all about your intelligence attribute. There's no need to use points on an attribute you won't use for anything other than crafting.
It is also a must for a quickhacks build since the drops for quickhacks (which BTW are the equivalent of "spells" in fantasy RPGs) is miniscule compared to gear drops and some quickhacks come in Epic or Legendary quality only and if they drop in the world I have never seen it. Suicide (bad guy will kill itself) and Cyberpsychosis (bad guy will attack all his former friends and you too if he sees you... and then kill itself if no one is in sight) are 2 of those epic or better only ones. Those need to be crafted by choosing the crafting perks in the quickhack tree and gathering/buying the materials.
You also want to craft the legendary versions ASAP if you're serious about a netrunner build, They're not just more powerful than the common or rare versions they also add effects that the lower tier versions don't have.
Take the lowly Ping hack for example. All it does is highlight in red enemies and objects (cameras, turrets, etc.) that are part of a network. The highlight works through walls and other obstructions so you can get a good idea of how many bad guys you're dealing with and where they are. All quality versions of Ping do that. Craft yourself a legendary version though and you can now target and quickhack all those people and objects though the walls and other obstructions. Using that I have fully cleared 3 story buildings from outside the building hiding behind a convenient dumpster without ever being spotted or shot at.
Many of the other quickhacks when upgraded to legendary status will add passives that restore RAM (RAM = fantasy RPG mana) or add to its max capacity, auto-apply the hack when you shoot someone, etc.
There is just no competent, high-level netrunning happening unless you craft legendary quickhacks. This one is not useless at all.
EDIT: Also fully agree with Pooma's score and his reasons for doing it. 8.5 - 9.5 is the correct range for this game. Personally I would go 8.5 at the moment but it will get to 9.5 territory once the bugs are cleaned up and cops stop teleporting to your location when you do something criminal: they can spawn a cop response out of thin air - I don't care about that since many years of MMORPG play have gotten me used to spawning - just spawn them out of my sight and have them travel to me.

Should get that sniper rifle that can shoot through buildings and you would be all set.
Though for me it doesnt seem to matter how many enemies are around when you have 100 hp inhalers and you can speed run to each one and knock them out with a tiny telescoping baton. I stun locked that sasquatch animal boss thats in the trailers non stop with that tiny wand til she was down in like 60 seconds, I think she got like 1 hit on me with that big hammer but didnt really do much to me.
It was also humorous listening to her animal buddies before that fight non stop say the same thing , how they are the wolf pack and are so good over and over as they dropped 1 by 1.

Used System Reset on her from across the room. One shot. She never touched me.
I then casually strolled to her, looted her and gave her the coup de grace with one shot from my pistol while she was unconscious

lol, I left her alive, I probably should have killed her seeing how much of a disappointment and easy the fight was.
Reviews are subjective....when will you people learn that simple fact? You can disagree with a review, but to the writer if the game is a 9/10 then it is a 9/10 lol. Write your own review and score it whatever you want. No one is wrong.
There is a huge disconnect between what was written (read part 1 as well) and how it was scored.
Go read it again- does that even remotely read like a 9/10 game to you?
I read both. Excerpts from the review talking with a positve tone:
I would be completely dishonest if I did not mention that I simply have not encountered any bugs.
The sense of scale in Cyberpunk 2077 is truly awe inspiring.
Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City is the single most immersive city I have ever experienced.
The first person perspective helps tremendously in this regard (for the record, I prefer first person to third person).
And then there’s the audio. The audio design is exemplary.
Apart from those quests which necessitate a car ride, I walk to my destination simply to absorb the world and truly live in it.
And now, having played nearly 60 hours, I’m surprised by just how deep the stories are in
Cyberpunk 2077.
V isn’t shooting a gun, I am. V isn’t feeling pain, I am. V isn’t experiencing loss, I am. This personal connection with the story is played out brilliantly by V’s voice actor, Cherami Leigh. All the struggles, the pain, the joy, the exhilaration are brought to life with Leigh’s performance and only serve to enrich my connection with V.
Ultimately, I came away surprised by just how deep the stories and characters are in Cyberpunk 2077 given my initial expectations. While I didn’t go into the game expecting meaningful storytelling, I’m happy to see I was proven wrong.
However, all this choice allows for some pretty good build diversity.
As I mentioned in my Review In Progress, my experience has been almost entirely bug-free.
And the negative:
Key bindings are limited to a single binding per command. Again, for a studio which has gone to great lengths positioning the PC version as the premiere version of the game, a lack of secondary key bindings is inexcusable.
Crafting is the exception. In short, it’s utterly useless in addition to initially breaking saves on PC.
While I acknowledge the state of the game at large, I can still only review my personal experience.
Now, I see how you might take that as not being a 9. Maybe an 8.75 or 8.8, but not a 9. Of course the written words in the review may not completely convey the joy and excitement the reviewer is trying to express.
I will never understand how (or why?) reviewers rate this game so well. In this case 9, just one point short of ultimate perfection!
Maybe I read the score wrong and it's 9 out of 20 instead of 10? And amazing was meant to be sarcastic?
Not a single bug? My game crashes every few minutes. It's unplayable to me and I'm on PC with a fairly strong PC. Nothing to brag about however. How many hours of play time have you logged? How far did you get? If the game would simply stop crashing I may have finished it by now.
As Angry Joe said in his review to people not having crashes "well good for you, GOOD FOR YOU!!"
lol
Please don't try to pass Angry Joe as an unbiased opinion. We're talking about a guy that makes his living making angry rants about games.
Well, unless he's doing a sponsored video like this one for Darksiders 3. Metacritic scores, PS4 64%, PC 70%, XBO 69%, Angry Joe: the bathtub goes right through you.
