Happy to step in and help out if you've been missing them.
We should be thankful for Gdemami though, because that is the real rating system on these forums.
Getting a like instead of lol from Gdemami is a red flag that you went way off the rails
So true, when I find myself agreeing with his posts or on the very rare occasions when he's agreed with, or at least not LoL'd my posts in a while I have to double check to make sure I haven't messed up on any of my daily meds or something.

I can remember thinking I had come up with some nice ideas for a post, then realising I was going to have to put an insightful on one of his posts before I did did mine, it felt really annoying.
I think what alot of us that played in the early MMO years was that the games were not so great, but the communities were outstanding. I see here all the time how great the UO, EQ, SWG, AO, AC, FFXI communities were, but I don't really hear that about the games from WoW on........It's not that people all of a sudden sucked from 2005 on, but the way the games were set up, we just didnt need each other much anymore....Being able to solo all the way from level 1 to max was really a death knell to the genre.
I started on the net in 1997 through AOL. They had a great selection of message boards that I frequented almost daily. The message board format is my preferred choice for Internet communications.
MMORPG.com is just a continuation of that for me.
I also echo the others saying that this is a nice, comfortable place to share MMO ideas and news

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse. - FARGIN_WAR
I come to discuss things I like (games and gaming) with people of similar attitudes, but not so similar as to be an echo chamber. Echo chamber? This community? It is to laugh. No one would ever accuse this site of operating in an echo chamber.
It is more difficult for new ideas to emerge in an echo chamber. Differing opinions help refine and evolve ideas. Independent thought is far more valuable than following a consensus opinion to me. A different opinion isn't an opportunity to hate or divide; it is an opportunity to share and learn. Do us a favor and teach us something.
Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.
This is the only forum that I visit almost daily and I have to parrot @Cheyane's comments - old friends that I never met. I started gaming in 1996 and some of the members here can identify with that and how much the landscape has changed. All in all, you are a group of people generally endowed with a great deal of common sense and that is both rare and refreshing. It's excellent to claim to be part of it.
I come here to keep an eye on the industry and see how close it is to making a quality game that I'd want to play. Worldly, socially positive (with players building and running cities, temples, merchant guilds and trade, etc.), interactive environments, mystery, discovery, and real adventure as game play.
But, I do enjoy the conversations whilst I'm here, especially ones about game mechanics and player psychology. I also enjoy some of the insights from players about games I don't play personally.
I don't currently play any MMOs (well, dip my toe into WAR RoR every now and again). The older ones I've either played and no longer enjoy, or didn't want to play. The current batch have gone in a direction I don't enjoy, so whilst I usually try to test them out, none of them have worked for me.
I'm still interested in the future of the genre. I see a huge amount of potential in a wide variety of areas, so part of the reason I visit is in the hopes of seeing an announcement about a new AAA MMORPG that starts to fulfil that potential. Admittedly, I visit MOP first looking for news and rarely read the news articles here, but the community here is usually quicker than the staff, so if there is a new announcement, chances are I'll see it in the forums before it's written up.
Currently Playing: WAR RoR - Spitt rr7X Black Orc | Scrotling rr6X Squig Herder | Scabrous rr4X Shaman
I guess I am still, perhaps naively, waiting for the announcement of that new gen MMORPG which follows in the footsteps of the original MMORPGs, but expands on them by introducing new innovative systems and features giving players more choices and fostering immersion and the credibility of the virtual world.
Doubt that is gonna happen in my lifetime though given that the industry is going in a completely different direction.
Ya never know what's going to happen. I remember back in my D&D P+P days, computers were relatively new and ran on tape reels.
My friends were talking about games and whole worlds to play something like D&D in, but I didn't think that computers were ever going to be powerful enough in my lifetime. But they insisted that computer tech was moving so fast, and they were even developing these new things called chips. Well, we all know now who was right.
This is amazing for us older folks. And 10 years from now, when I'm like a "centurian(?)" or something closer than not, who knows what will be possible.
Especially once the gobernant has implanted their brain worms in you all. Bwahaha...hahaha. (Well, they might get me too, but I'll probably be senile and really mess them up.) (Is today tomorrow, but I just don't know it?)
The drama, the people, the articles. Above all, however, is the possibility I can find a game I want to play. A few games I've found and played were through MMORPG's coverage of them or players bumping the game to the trending bar.
I joined back in 2007, when MMO's were still fairly new and it was exciting to see new games popping up. It was fun discussing MMO's and watching all the new developments.
But the site isn't really about MMO's anymore. I still log in to see news about games in general, although I'm not interested in most of them. I do read the forums some, and there are some good posters to read.
But the forums are also full of fan-bois and crap.
I'm definitely disappointed in MMORPG.com and the state of MMO's in general.
What is it that makes you continue to frequent the MMORPG.com forums? Are you still involved in classic MMOs? Interested in the current batch that's being developed? Hopeful for a future resurgence of the genre? Some other reason?
I barely visit here anymore. The last 2 times the site went blank other than two ads at the side and one at the top (I even took a screenshot lol). Plus the forum is quite often off topic.
I mostly stopped because of the holy crusade that was pushed by this website to label EVERYTHING an MMO. That and the inquisition that was anti-sub and pro F2P/P2W. That was like... 10 years or more ago I think? I dunno, but they got what they wanted and now Chess is an MMO and F2P has killed all virtual world aspects of an MMO (cosmetics are achievements you idiots, they shouldnt be bought with real money).
I check in now and again for little updates and to see if something ACTUALLY new is going to be released. Sadly, all the "new" releases are typically garbage. I haven't been hyped for any MMO games in many years.
Some of the people here are pretty funny too. So theres that.

I come for great gaming news. Great forum debates without trolls throwing bombs. This is my number one site for gaming news. And it has been for years.
I have been on these forums for like 13 years and unless something happens I don't see a reason why I would stop coming here. I also really enjoy reading about what people think about all the news from new / old MMORPG's, I like to get an idea of what to try or retry out. Also a lot of the people here are great.

I'm a slave to popular games.
It's too bad they never made a World of Starcraft....Then again it probably would have ended up dumbed down like WoW was so maybe not.
