Well my trust is Bethesda can depreciated more than appreciated over the last few years, but I'm hoping under Microsoft they'll bounce back into more of a development with integrity. Am I going to pre-purchase any of their games? No. I will though keep a keen eye on their future titles hoping they deliver on their promises in anticipation in buying.

So we can expect a buggy, featureless release that modders will have to fix. Awesome.

This is the least interesting IP I can think of.

Indiana Jones is basically Tomb Raider but with Lara Croft being replaced with a pretend cowboy.
First Indiana Jones movie - 1981
    First Tomb Raider game -1996

Indiana Jones has been around longer than Tomb Raider. Are you a millennial by chance?

Yeah is Lucasfilm Games aligned with Disney Plus Luscasfilm or Theatrical Lucasfilm. In other words, are they Kathleen Kennedy influenced? If so Indy will become weak and won't have the heart for adventures anymore and like you said his daughters will take over and fight for the rights of snakes because it's cruel to hate snakes and they have feelings too. And they will encourage short round (who obviously won't be named that anymore) to embrace his inner woman and stop living a lie and being oppressed by name calling.

    Can't wait!

I'm surprised the owners of Indiana Jones IP didn't consider Crystal Dynamics (Tomb Raider) or Naughy Dog (Uncharted) first. They would make a far better Indiana Jones than any studio within Zenimax.

Thankfully Machine Games will be the one making it but I hope it has a third person option.

Not aswhy you are all hating on this.   I think it's sweet.  The whip could make interesting game dynamics.  Swinging, pulling objects, disarming enemies,  pulling enemies toward you etc etc.  I'm Thinking along the lines of fallen order with a whip instead of lightsaber.  There is another Indy movie coming out as well

I know there's a new movie in the works and all (originally slated for 1999 and now for 2022) but hasn't this already been done many times, and done well, by all the swashbuckling archaeologist clones? Lara Croft being the oldest and biggest franchise of course.

I think I'll just forget that this is even in the works unless they show they're doing something new and exciting with it.

Ubisoft (Massive Entertainment The Division 2 developer) just announced an open world Star Wars game as well.

It seems Lucasfilms Games is not waiting long for their plans

Yo the first three movies of the series were the best.

But thing is being Indy sucks. You ever play those games?

Dudes I got em for christmas (I just forgave my parents last fall).
    They were the worst.

Anyhow Jones is fun in movie context with Ole what's his name...the dude who played han solo in that one movie... Something something son.

Anyhow that unknown actor made the part worth watching. Anything less than han solo in the 40's with a whip and a habit of shooting dudes because he can... Well that just sucks. It's not fun. It's not even Indy. It's Indiana. Which was a shitty arc.

Open world star wars - well that's just setting yourself up for failure - considering the size of "open world star wars"

Unless they limit this to like one planet - but then it's not really open world star wars, is it?

Open world does not mean entire world. It mean just what it says, the world is open. Elder Scrolls games are "open world", but they don't have the entire world open. Does that clarify?

Shouldn't ES be marketed as open continent/s then, otherwise that would be false advertising.

I love the (first 3) Indy films, but im struggling to see how you could capture their essence in a video game.

So, my expectation is that it'd be a fairly standard action/adventure game, just with a whip and pistol. Would be cool if they could make it more open world / sandboxy where you get to select your jobs, have to do research into the subject, then go out and solve puzzles whilst avoiding / killing nazis.

But, it'll probably be a highly story-focused game, which doesn't interest me.
