I'm assuming this is from the Diablo 2 update? If so, yes, Imagine what could be done. A few years ago, I fired up D2 for the first time in many, many years and was amazed at how poorly the graphics had aged. Still quite fun, so I'm looking forward to the updated version. However, I also believe in letting nostalgia rest. Not everything needs to be updated. Still have no plans to sully my memories of FF7 with the remake.

Detailed textures maybe but not the assets/meshes.It is also from 3rd person which makes it all look puny. How does it look up close in first person? Yes games can all have detailed worlds and textures and of course at a cost. I like to use Atlas as an example because the world and textures are really nice AND has had large player battles. However you will get slowish loading on average pC's when entering that loading zone/chunk. I do however play on a laptop so a better decent PC would have less issues.Atlas unlike a lot of rpg's has a LOT of AI going in the bakground, loading and determining the new loaded creatures levels as well biome information and temp changes.
I can also use FFXIV as another example,i played that game on an older defunct PC and that game looks plenty good enough so yeah devs can most certainly pull off good looking games that also play well enough.
I'll say this straight up ,i detest anime or cartoon graphics,i think they look crap and are very low poly but don't have to be they just are or have been.
We..I need more than just decent looking graphics,i need THE GAME,depth in realism such as survival games, depth in the world, creatures, zones, combat etc etc.I have given up on mmorpg's ever advancing to the next stage, right now it is INDIE survival games doing MUCH better work than mmorpg's which have been relegated to end game quest looters.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Hrmm, not seeing anything extraordinary but perhaps my old Samsung 8 screen isn't rendering it very well.
Look at the wall. See the drawings ?
Also look at the ribcage and skeletons on the ground and his shield. Really fantastic attention to the bone structure. These people doing this are really good artist.

Wizardry, I really wish you would stop it with the knee-jerk responses BEFORE actually understanding what you are commenting on.
This looks to be an arpg and I doubt there is any first person. They can then make the textures as detailed as they like but from a distance because of the players' vantage point.
The art design for this, near as I can tell is not anime-inspired. Given the font, it almost looks like the Diablo II remaster. But I can't tell for sure.
Not sure why you are comparing mmorpg's to this which might have a few additional people for multiplayer and that's about it.

It does look amazing. The etching on the metal armor (armour) is awesome!
I admit that I did have a "@Wizardry" reaction as it a set perspective.
I'm reminded of Valheim's "lack of detail" that worked well with that game, but still looks wonderfully gorgeous. Don't look at your player model LOL

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse. - FARGIN_WAR
I will admit, I don't find anything remotely impressive about the image.
Sure, the textures are detailed, but that hasn't added anything for me. The isometric viewpoint, the sense that it's a tiny player stood in a box with a small amount of clutter, and the poor quality design of the creatures, those are the things that stand out to me.
But, if it is indeed a remaster of D2, that would make sense. They aren't going to rebuild the whole game, simply adding better textures and some new models would be enough.

A lot of older games, could truly benefit from a remaster or graphics upgrade, MMO's included.
really remarkable to be sure.
Egotism is the anesthetic that dullens the pain of stupidity, this is why when I try to beat my head against the stupidity of other people, I only hurt myself.

It's Diablo 2 resurrected. The isometric viewpoint is the trademark of this type of game.
My first impression was "this is definitely Blizzard" since they've always been at the top of the eye candy list in the ARPG world. But if pressed I would have said D4 not the D2 revamp. They're taking this D2 thing seriously if they're redoing the artwork to this extent.

Titan Quest actually. I know they gave us an upgrade for free a few years back but I wanted a rehaul like this and I would be willing to pay 40 Euros for it.

O mon dieu, so much yes! If it happened, they better brought Transmog with it...that's literally the only thing I miss in TQ.

I don't know about extraordinary but the detail is incredible. The artists did an amazing job.
