In fact, I'm downloading the demo now.

If people want to cheat or tweak their characters in single player mode, let them. If they try to go online with those same characters and play with randoms I think that's when punishment should be handed out.
For example I remember when people were messing with gear stats for marvels avengers. Players would have full gear stat rolls that were impossible, but were attempting to convince others that it all happened naturally.
That game is pve only too, and the multiplayer is similar to outriders, even if one is considered a live service game and the other isn't. The point is, when playing with others in an online capacity, falsely portraying your characters as something other players can do within the game, without cheating, is a terrible thing.
Will anyone that goes to the trouble to look for and use cheats ever care that they have a water mark? No they will play the game their way till they are tired of it and move to the next.
Brain dead is right...they can not even make a decent game that stops cheaters AND they can not even bother to ban them. Instead they make more work to water mark people...one of the most stupid things ever.
Outriders is not a "GAAS" game, may i suggest you read up on what the game actually is?
Love this sooo much.. gonna go check them out.
I would rather they do exactly what they are doing. Don't ban them. Let them only play with other cheaters. Put a huge watermark in the corner for all to see. Works for me. All games should do this. Want to cheat in a game to make it look like you have accomplished something, that is fine you shouldn't lose your game for that. You should lose the ability to play with others that don't cheat though. Only people that would have a problem with this solution is most likely people that like to cheat in games.
The Watermark is epic, as it would expose cheaters, it would destroy their cred, which is why cheaters cheat to start with, they want to win, but this mark, would brand them as the apex loser.
I would love if other games like Overwatch, and Fortnight also used this tactic.
Cheaters hate other cheaters? That is a vague statement because i know from first hand convos within COD they praise each other.I was complaining on a server at how many were cheating and was bombarded by little kids telling me i was jealous and that the cheats are just smarter than me ..lol.
Then those little kids began begging the cheats askign where they could get the cheats.I just gave up,nobody cares, gaming run by little dumbass kids who think cheating is "cool".
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
If I were going to play the game beyond the demo, I would welcome what they have in mind for those who cheat. I have no plans to play it though once it's live. The controls for me felt sluggish, the duck mechanic is awful, and I would be playing it solo if I were to play it and I don't care for either class that is doable solo (at least at lower levels).
I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.
Just ban the cheaters and move on...
Amusing idea I have heard many times before in sports talk forums but someone is actually doing that here?
LMAO

However, just tagging them with a watermark, and moving on, is not only super easy, it also removes any cred they try to build outside the game, as they can't share their screenshots, videos, or anything else of their supposed victories on any social media platform, as such this removes the core reasons why many players cheat to start with. They want to win and they want to brag about it.
This is something that I have wished had been done much sooner by competitive PvP Games, like big ticket games like Overwatch, Fortnight, CoD, and many others.
With this "Scarlet Letter" system in place, I bet that whole L2P BS that some gamers toss out, will suddenly end, because now others can demand SS's or Vids of how great they are, and when they either refuse, or see that mark.. Nahh man.. just another poser.
I so wish PvP games adopt this system going forward, as opposed to bans. This is so much better. Hurts them where it really counts, in the Ego and Bragging Rights.
What money? There's no microtransactions in the game, infact, they're losing money by not forcing them to rebuy the game if they wanted to continue.
This watermark changes all that, and would let all the legit players mock and belittle them, call them losers and posers, failures that can't play, and that they suck so bad they need to cheat, and that kind of humiliation is in fact what they would fear beyond being wrongfully temp banned, it would also kill any chance they had to stream their game, or take screen shots, crying about other others. LOL!
This is something I talked with others about, some way to outs the cheaters, but not ban then, as banning is pointless, and this idea of a watermark on their screen, is positively brilliant to that end.
All the little cheaters, showing that they can't play.. LOL.
I am seeing the cries now "I was wrongfully watermarked" LOL.. it will happen, and really no one should believe them. But the cries will be there, and they will be a thing of beauty.
