With Blackwood on the horizon as the next chapter for Elder Scrolls Online taking us back to Cyrodiil, Shank revisits his favorite game of all time: Oblivion.
I love the quest that brings you to that little "backwoods" town where you investigate the Argonian's (neema?) disappearance. You then uncover the sinister underbelly of the town.
Don't want to spoiler it.
There's also an old fort there that has vampires. They always destroy me if I go in there at too low a level.
It's a great game though the city's populations always seem too low unless you use a mod.

I like oblivion and skyrim but in my experience an eso chapter emulation is not exactly the same experience. Not to say its bad or anything but you have to be reasonable. lol.
There's actually someone who's favorite Elder Scrolls game is Oblivion? Now I have seen it all...
There's a YouTuber who has been doing a lot of Morrowind content (he's Irish) and he also states that it's his favorite.
I guess it depends on when one was introduced to the games. Some feel Daggerfall is the pinnacle, others Morrowind.
Still others prefer Skyrim as it has a bit more "hand-holding" so less wandering around with no clue on where to go.
Daggerfall was my first and I loved it! Getting lost in dungeons for hours for many was a nightmare but I kinda enjoyed it....When Morrowind came out I found it pretty easy and the dungeons were way too small.

I've been recently playing Daggerfall and I hear you. they really are rather sprawling which I love. It's also nice to know that there are puzzles and secret doors.

Not saying i didn't play Oblivion into Oblivion, just Morrowind felt much more mysterious, you felt transported to this other world while playing, was loaded with deep stories and hidden secrets to uncover.

That's not a guess, that's fact, and player expectations as well.
My first game of the series was Morrowind, my hours playing that easily overwhelm all the time i spent playing Oblivion and Skyrim. Each release play time dwindled, Morrowind massive amount, Oblivion a lot, Skyrim barely touched it.
Where my boys it was Skyrim, they took to that as much as i did Morrowind. Skrim to them was my Morrowind, they played a fair amount of Oblivion, and Morrowind barely touched it.

The Unity one.
I was never able to get far with "old school" daggerfall.
Daggerfall in the unity engine makes playing it smooth and easy and I can have a few mods to make the world look a bit less pixelated/old.
So I have rolling hills and mountains, a better night sky, better music because the original music, the sounds, gives me a headache and "hand painted" items/characters.

Great Game , im gonna be jumping into the Unity version at some point , but my plate is full
I still have my original Daggerfall box with jewelcase and 500 page manual...
Really enjoyed getting games with those great big manuals back in the day .. So enjoyable to read

Morrowind Was my first real introduction to an rpg of that scale and I will always love it. From being able to wreck your game if you killed the wrong guy to farming vampires to sell their dust. Also the spell making was spectacular. My favorite part though was the confrontation with the big baddy at the end the way he talked to you as you were making your way to him and it was awesome.
I really enjoyed Oblivion and played the heck out of it. Skyrim was a lot of fun for me too and I have hundreds of hours in it and now that mods are on the console that is cool. I thought oblivion had the best dlc content discounting horse armor the shivering isles was great and all the other little ones like the castle you could get or the wizards tower. I enjoyed all three I might get back into oblivion in a bit.
I love Oblivion still..that intro, amazing.
I like the high fantasy feel of Oblivion. I’m looking forward to Skyblivion - which will probably be my next Oblivion playthrough. I know too many of the original Oblivion’s «exploits» to avoid them completely
Currently playing Skyrim again and since I lowered my expectations I am having a lot of fun.
I'm also currently playing Skyrim.
I saw an old post on reddit about using a Bound Bow and that was enough to get me started again
IDK why but I had never paid much attention to Conjuration before but I'm loving that bow + unlimited spectral arrows. Throw in some stealth for extra damage and it's a very powerful build.

Morrowind is still my all time favorite, but I really do love Oblivion and I'm looking forward to reading more articles from the author.

I think with any game, if take it for what it is rather than what we want it to be, we can sometimes be very surprised.
Are you guys (Iselin as well) playing original Skyrim or special edition?)
I ask because I'm in process of testing my Skyrim mod and will release it end of May. It's done in the original game.
I'm going to try to move it to Special edition but I"m sure that will cause issues as that's just the magic of modding.
And for ha ha's I'll leave the mini-trailer here ...
I'm playing Special Edition for the first time. I never upgraded on Steam since I didn't have all the DLC but the SE is now one of the "free" games on the MS Game Pass for PC so I'm playing it there.
Trailer looks good, BTW.

Free is always good. In any case, just more incentive to port it once I know it's not going to crash anyone's machine.
Pro tip (from a non-pro) when you make a mod for a game on your very good computer make sure you test it on a "not" very good computer.
You'd be surprised the horrors you'll uncover!
