Sooo referrals are going through? Why the hell is this thread still going?
I requested for SBFord and/or MikeB to lock the thread in a private message. SBFord said " This is totally in MikeB's hands " MikeB has not responded in the message.
For what it's worth there were a lot of people wanting it to remain open.

If the thread gives you irritating notification spam, you can change your Notification Preferences to disable those notifications.
But there's no reason to close whole threads. Let those who want to discuss do it as long as they've got something to talk about, then the thread will eventually die on its own.
Besides, the moderators have finite time. There are better uses for their time than trying to judge when a discussion has run its course. At least I'd see them rather spending their time fighting against personal attacks, spammers, and such, or in case of SBFord she might even spend the time writing us more awesome articles to MMORPG.com.

This message is only my personal opinion.
It's not notifications at all. There's a very specific reason I have put the ball in the court of the moderators as far as the closure of this thread.
But I don't see that happening, this one is a drama magnet.
Oh hell yeah, and will remain so for the duration. The more the game is "trending", the more people will notice it and feed the referral program.
Those already part of the referral program will be doing their best to keep the game in the limelight, because they possibly stand to gain financially, which is a strong motivator.
Perhaps we'll be adding a new term to the MMO lexicon soon. Stand aside "white knights", it's time for the "referral knights" to have their day !
From what I gather the interest in this matter has died down and there was no clear resolution. It does seem PC Gamer kept the article up and never retracted it.

It is necessary to be reminded.
