I'm looking forward to both games, Solasta and BG3. When they announced Solasta's release date I stopped playing it in anticipation. That in turn caused me to break down and purchase BG3 which I said to myself that I wasn't going to do until after release. Damn you Solasta
Highly impressed with both games and I cant wait to put BG3 back in the oven with the release of Solasta.
I agree and i do like both games. I look at the situation where rather than two games competing, its two good games for me to play within a game universe than I really like.
I really have a hard time understanding the constant comparing Solasta and BG3. Both games have a completely different focus.
Both games have 5e, but one has it as flavor with no qualms about making drastic changes from pnp, and one has it pretty accurately implemented. In one I build my own party, in the other I build one character and recruit my party with far more companions than party slots. One is on rails, the other is far more open.
It is like comparing NWN and ToEE.
I plan on getting both and I'm pretty sure I will enjoy both for drastically different reasons. Solasta is much more my style of the two and I enjoyed its EA far more, but that doesn't mean BG 3 doesn't appeal to me or I'm not going to play the shit out of it.
BG3 is in a completely different league; in comparison, Solasta is more like Divinity: Original sin 1; so still a great game, but it's not BG3.
BG3's production value is WAAAAY higher and it's implementation of the D&D ruleset is far deeper, so please don't compare this to BG3 when it's clearly no-where near close to it.
So yeah, of course Solasta 's development is going to go quicker, because.... i mean, are we seriously having this conversation?

I would love for you to explain how BG3 has a far deeper implementation of 5e. This is objectively false. Unless by deeper you mean more 5e stuff or Forgotten Realms lore, since BG3 has the full FR license and 5e license, and Solasta has just the OGL 5e and their own custom realm with custom content. But since accuracy and changes can be measured, it is 100% factually accurate to say Solasta has a far, far, far more accurate implementation of 5e. It isn't even close. BG3 purposefully made numerous changes to 5e that drastically changes how 5e plays. This isn't hidden or secret or not widely known. It is objective reality.
BG3 clearly has a much, much higher production value clearly seen by anyone with eyes so no one can argue that (just as no one that can read, compare and contrast could ever say BG3 has a more accurate implementation of 5e).
But Solasta is nothing like D:OS 1. The gameplay and combat of D:OS 1 is like the gameplay and combat of D:OS 2 and is like the gameplay and combat of BG 3.
It is hard to make Solasta comparisons because it is so on rails and has very little side content. Its focus is on recreating the pnp tabletop experience with an accurate implementation of 5e, but again, it is on rails and has very little side content. BG 3 is trying to make a BG sequel, but with a heavily modified 5e and all the stuff people like about their engine and combat in D:OS 1 and 2.
BG 1 and 2 had an extremely heavily modified 2e, and almost every D&D game since has too so it is not like this is a knock. Just factual. (Besides ToEE as the exception, knights of the chalice had way too many modifications and cut core ogl content to be considered close).
