imageReport: Starfield Will Not Appear On PlayStation 5, Exclusive Only To Xbox And PC | MMORPG.com

Per a new report, Starfield, the upcoming franchise from Elder Scrolls developer Bethesda Game Studios, will not be released on Sony's PlayStation. Instead, the new IP from the studio will release exclusively on Microsoft's Xbox console, as well as PC.

    Sony has had no problem doing exclusives for their Playstation over the years so good for Microsoft doing it for their XBox. I've really got my fingers crossed that Bethesda will deliver outstanding quality on this Starfield.

    Every console has done exclusives since ever. I have little faith in Bethesda.

    I posted here about how Microsoft would begin shutting down the Playstation releases from Bethesda. Here is I told you so to all those posters that said I was wrong. I will give you quotes if need be.

    I knew that purchase would be bad for those of us who use PC, XBox AND Sony Playstation.

    I for one am a fan of platform exclusivity. Such games are as good as they are, and are typically free of invasive microtransactions because they are used to sell platforms.

    It's good when Sony does it, it's good when Nintendo does it, and I'm a-okay with this too. Maybe Microsoft might actually hold Bethesda to some quality standards for once in their bug-ridden hackjob lives.

    I don't trust Bethesda to not screw this up. 

    The playstation owners will probably just miss out on a buggy mess with a cash shop.

    I don't see how anyone could be excited for anything Bethesda after Fallout 76.

    You mean literally the thing anyone with a brain could have reasonably foreseen happening? Yeah, it's not really news. This isn't a huge revelation to anyone that keeps up with gaming whatsoever. This is expected business.

    Bethesda/Microsoft only said they would honor the titles that they've already announced, which makes sense to me. As for Xbox getting exclusives? That doesn't hurt PC at all since they've been fantastic at giving PC/Windows users the ability to play Xbox games.

    I don't play consoles anyways, so Microsoft buying up gaming companies is a net win for me as a PC gamer.

    You saying my post is brainless? I was pointing out the people here who said I was wrong and who disputed and disregarded #ShankTheTank editorial about the same thing, Mr. Obvious.

    Not as much as you think. You watch, Game Pass will come to the switch.

    First we heard the MS was buying Bethesda on this forum, I called in that very first thread MS wad pushing towards exclusives and I was made fun of in a big way.

    Also... Starfield is a safe IP to use for Xbox exclusivity as opposed to anything Elder Scrolls related that has a log history of being available on PC and both major consoles.

    I'm not a fan of exclusivity but as I said in that original thread, this is something that Sony has pushed far more aggressively than anyone else with many titles still locked into their ecosystem years after their original release.

    By comparison, anything "exclusive" to Xbox AND PC does not feel all that exclusive to me since the "and PC" part is my main interest anyway.

    The last of Us on PC? Yeah that ain't happening unless you use an emulator.

    I washed my hands of Bethesda long ago. If I were interested I wouldn't be playing this anyway since I don't have an Xbox (don't want one) and won't touch anything that comes close to MS awful store.

    I'm fine with exclusives for first party titles, but don't like 3rd party exclusives. MS can make all their First Party titles exclusive, and it wouldn't bother me.

    We dont even know if it will be a decent game do we? Bethesda's last effort wasn't exactly great.
