It's just a random stupid game, some things should REALLY stay in the past.
I'm done with it. Thanks for all the effort, but it's just not for me. I would want something as colorful as this, set in Warhammer, with more PvE focus, with modern design, preferably singleplayer(done with multiplayer crap). But this? /tsk, sunshine, it ain't it.
Well, it was free... so no skin off your back for trying. Hope you find a better game that suits you!
Excuse me, I get terrible outbursts from time to time. Maybe I should be a Marauder when I grow up?
As for RoR, I feel bad about ditching it. They have improved it so much, it has come a seriously long way. And it is quite easily better than the chasis it has been built upon, the WAR. Concerning that, RoR is fantastic, but I have issues with WAR itself:
First off, praise where praise is due. Artwork and IPcombination is EXACTLY(ok, maybe a bit more grit, but meh) what I m looking for, there is a number of outstanding mechanics(idea of RvR, ToK, PQs, Guard+collision, general writing), but the core, the very idea it is built upon(RvR, heavily group oriented etc) is...I don't like it. I like almost everything, including "kill 10 Squigs" and such, but...the core, damn it, the core! I'll suggest a few things to grimnir and co later, if they manage to fix / change those, it can easily become my favorite game. With that said, I do have a question:
Why don't clearly ranged enemies use moreskills etc in PvE? I noticed that whenI was doing the Hard PQ in Chrace and then the equivalent of an "Uthorin Sorceress" appears, but she proceeds to give me a whopping(no, really, she charges into melee!) and doesn't cast anything. Sheshould cast, shouldn't she?
It's just a random stupid game, some things should REALLY stay in the past.

Why aren’t you spending all your time in Nioh 2 mate? Its available and glorious. The only reason I am not playing is because of Monster Hunter Rise, which somehow is even more stunning then Monster Hunter World.
/Cheers, Lahnmir
...I don't know. I am waiting for a discount or something(an equivalent of DMV robbed me blind - them and their taxes! ). I still have to finish Armada 2, Necrons remaining. Now, THOSE are AWESOME games! Deeply satisfying, but literally!
It's just a random stupid game, some things should REALLY stay in the past.

If you want to help, I could use some Silver to get started. But that's later, I'm off to Armada now. And potentislly some other things, but I will be back.
Any MMOs with a similar artstyle? Sure, I find this artstyle fitting a specific version of Warhammer exceedingly well(4th and 5th, acciddntally my favorite ones), but not exactly Warhammer in general. I also don't care that much about the gameplay, but damn the artwork / IP combo is good! If I could just godmode to get the sights and the stories...you bet I would!
Concerning RoR, I really like its looks and its IP and some other things(feels like playing in Warhammer Fantasy 5th), but I just don't like some underlying mechanics(oh and how the quests are half broken with their text outputs). It's just thoroughly and deeply disappointing for me, but I am not exactly looking for an MMO right now. Don't feel like playing those.
Edit: I don't want to rely on a healer, I want to rely on myself! I really don't like how this game shoves grouping down your throat. It's basically designed with 1-1-1 in mind(Healer - rDPS - mDPS / Tank). And I want solo.
Hey, buy health pots with tokens earned from scenarios or rvr from the PvP/renown merchants in the capital city (max level for your character). They are pretty much the best in the game... I'm assuming you're using these? Makes a massive difference. I didn't figure it out till several hours in. I believe they might be sold on the auction house too, but not 100% sure.
In help chat... or if you are in the Capital city... zone chat... If you're nice and specify you're new to the game... and list the specific potion you need... being low level, you might get some donation stacks mailed to you. If I were logged in I would send you some, but I'm away from computer due to real life for a while. They are super cheap for veterans to buy because of the currency conversion of higher tier scenario/rvr tokens vs. lower level tokens.
Also- Cleanse any death penalties (especially multiple stacks), they really do gimp you - you have to visit a specific npc in settlements to do this for a small fee, or let the timers run out.
Right. The game itself is very nice and I really like the combination of this artwork and Warhammer IP. It plays nice, interesting quests(even though most interesting ones are sadly broken, like the legendary "Stout and Bitter" where you escort the Beer convoy to Marshes), but I'm dismayed by it being an MMO. As odd as it might sound, if it were a singleplayer...oh, I could have so much fun! First, I'd dpeed up moving. Next, I'd give myself 100000000 gold(no time to waste on that ; I'd rather have fun than grind), then I'd give myself bots or something like it(would help so much some classes like BW or WH) and finally...I could use any name I want. And such.
I'll take it for what it is, but it could be so much more. Btw, PvP is best in 6v6 or the like, oRvR is random badass nonsense. Cool and badass, but stupid.

If you play Order RvR, you'll come across the Bitterstone Thunderers organasized all dwarf guild warbands.
They stay in character and are pretty funny by what they say and RP. Sometimes they spawn the dwarf ram (which has kegs on it) and roam around the zone doing beer stops.
It is awesome to see 20 - 40 all dwarves coordinated rolling up... something like the The Hobbit: 5 Armies.
Even though they are not meta, they can hold their own... and it actually is a huge boon to moral... definitely for me.

I know. I also know that I'd prefer singleplayer by far. I just don't like to depend on others when it comes to matters of efficiency and personal entertainment. And I don't like hard relationships either, so guilds aren't really my thing.
The entire genre isn't my thing, but what can I do? Make do with what I have. It's not like I have a lot of choice.

Also, why are most people there so unfriendly? They act like a cult or something, very weird. I know that my way of playing WAR is unorthodox(PvE -> RvR endgame ; though this could also be unorthodox only because of RR talents), but why do most of people bully me? Basically it goes like this:
"a PvE question"
"nobody cares about PvE ; go play WoW, carebear"
"explanation how this is the only high quality WHF RPG"
"your weird. This is not the game for you"
I mean, wtf? Mind, this happened even on live WAR, they drew most everyone away and then went "huh, our game's closing ; come on!". Weird, cult-like people. Of course, it's not everyone.

Sorry you got this response. I think because so few actually completed the PVE quests, almost everyone is there to PvP. They almost entirely level via PvP. Was this in the "help" channel, if so... only an asshat would make a response like that in help. If someone keeps saying this to you in help, you could report them to a GM. ".gm" in chat is the command to see who is online.
Endgame PvE (which you are not interested in), people would be more helpful.
Is it normal for pvt servers to collect and store IP addresses so they could enforce rules and generally harass people? I know that they are PRIVATE(...duh, it's in the name), but this seems somewhat absurd.
I mean, how come it's still the only one WAR server or, for that matter, that WAR / RoR is still the only Warhammer RPG?
I have never had an issue of privacy with this server (nor any of the hundreds of people I've played with).
It is so that if they ban you (temporary or permanent) you do not squirm around it. It's an IP ban.
Do not worry about it, there is nothing nefarious about it.
This is why I like private servers 1000 times better than any corporation server. Corporations are greedy dirt bags, and could give 2 craps if you by pass their ban. They have zero intent on banning any one, their intent is to make the weak minded people who play feel like they are doing something about bad people, and giving them a meaningless way to hit the report button so they feel good. They also make money if those people have to buy back the account win win for the corporation, lose lose for every one who play. You mess around on a private server, your gonna have to figure out a way to mask your ip, or change it. Which can be done, but it makes it harder. They also in my experience pay way more attention to cheaters, and ban RMT faster.

I initially did the PvE quests but fewer and fewer people were doing them. So I started joining the BGs. I was the mage the one who can heal and I also played the battlepriest both were quite a lot of fun in BGs. It was fun while it lasted. It just lacked something no idea what though. I remember writing my beta impressions on it and I wasn't impressed even then.
Well, I did most of things I set out to do. It was, apart from Warhammer Fantasy skin, markedly average. There were some things here or there that were interesting or even fun, but it's all lost in a sea of mediocrity.
If this game wasn't Warhammer Fantasy, it wouldn't have survived 3 months, if that! Because for me, that's all it is. A nice rendition of Warhammer Fantasy.
In the other news, it made me realize how anti-mmo I became. ESPECIALLY anti-pvp mmo, that combination is like cancer to me. I don't know, PvP makes me feel unwell. Or, maybe not, but I don't get anything from it. It's a 110% pointless activity for me. Ok, maybe it isn't, but I prefer to use throwaway characters to play PvP(even then...I don't like it at all). There are better modes of playing than PvP for me.
Also, the community is "amazing", shit they are BAD!

I...don't think this is a game for me tbh. The community is all wrong(a community based on epeen and hierarchy is no community to me ; more like a cult) and it don't really offer what I'm after. Warhammer be damned! It's an ancient, bad game imo.
Actually, the game isn't half bad. Ok, it is half bad(the amount of weird design choices baffles me), but it is very relaxing, very fun when you find your groove, so to speak. And classes aren't at all designed equally ; some feel fully designed(SW, WL, WH WE, Slayer) while some feel like they were chopped up in a shed(BW Sorc lol).
It's just...the community is just awkward for me. I feel like a complete alien lol. It's just the most awkward feeling...oh well. I can enjoy Warhammer by myself. And then some. Like, Dark Elf Epics...damn those are good! The game does become quite grindy in T4 though...

It's just...the community is just awkward for me. I feel like a complete alien lol. It's just the most awkward feeling...oh well. I can enjoy Warhammer by myself. And then some. Like, Dark Elf Epics...damn those are good! The game does become quite grindy in T4 though...
Haha... you seem to go back and forth.
Have you gotten into Chapter 22 public groups. They are end game public pve raids, 3 on each side... great loot (best talismans... that you can use or sell...and decent gear). Pretty fun and relatively quick if in a good group.

They are spammed in chat when forming.
If only I had a Dwarf class to play. All of them quite suck in solo. Engi is like a worse Magus, IB is overcomplicated(and I feel constantly rushed when playing it), Slayer is simply bad at solo(...damn!) and RP has those weird Mastery Paths. Maybe IB is the least evil. Or RP if I had a guide of sorts on how to level it.
And the T4 is entirely too grindy. It's like...ok...why. I really enjoyed Dark Elves(=WE), that was a discovery and a half(the Epics are very, very good, some pro wrote them ; you can feel that)! I'll probably finish it, but T4...gosh darn it! If only I could do it faster.
Besides that, quite a fun game, gets kinda grindy, wrong community. To give you an example of wrong community, that's like if a Centrist like me ended up with in either extreme's company. Instant alienazation.
My opinion is that WAR wasn't popular enough to get enough people interested in more servers. For example, WoW has hundreds, if not thousands, of private servers all over the world because of how many people want to play the game. Two types of people usually play them, those who don't want to pay (freeloaders) and those who simply can't afford it (third world economies).

Honestly? It is a very fun, niche game. A lof of too avantgarde systems for your typical Joe. Even mob grinding is unusually fun and relaxing. But it's really not for everyone.

I liked it a lot too, i just thought the game focused too much on PvP to justify subscribing. But i loved the PvE and the characters.

Oh, god damn, so much YES! I really love a lot of things, but it is too much focused on PvP, too much even for its own good. It surprised me tbh. I didn't think I'd like Dark Elf Epics so much, they are really fulfilling! My thoughts about Dark Elf / Eldar are indeed changing by moment. They are so much fun, rarely I gel as easily with a faction(both of them) as that.

The game is ok, but I'm trying to level a Tank and it's some bore and despair on it; so slow and boring I can't believe anyone chose to level Tanks if they know what they are doing. I love the IP and the designs but I think it's too hard to level tanks if you are not in a guild. I don't know what to do. I think I will level a Slayer, at least I would be able to kamikaze all the solo quests and mob grinding.
Now I'm going to play a little of Warhammer: Total War. Buf, I dont know if I want to play a MMO anymore. Existential crisis

It's best to level via pvp, but if you dont like pvp... I understand your pain.

Which Tank? I might give some advice if stars align...
What a beautiful game run by a bunch of stuck up, thin-skinned, rule nazis. Who don't take anything into context, RULES >>> everything.
Honestly, the thought of them is sickening. They were nobodies on the live servers, mostly Karak Azgal, basically Barrens Chat spergs. And they got ahold of authority.
Sickening community, ran by sickening, trigger happy mods. I suggest turning off the chat, for your own good, unless you want to get into trouble.

...I don't know. I am waiting for a discount or something(an equivalent of DMV robbed me blind - them and their taxes! ). I still have to finish Armada 2, Necrons remaining. Now, THOSE are AWESOME games! Deeply satisfying, but literally!
Endgame PvE (which you are not interested in), people would be more helpful.

What do you think about Dwarf classes?
