The fact that they have to announce that a single player game will not have microtransactions worries me. Does that mean this "single player" game may require an online connection? I hope not.

Makes the most sense that they make this one hit and quit. Just tell the story and let it go, it's clear SE can't make a live service game work. final fantasy is a different story, but avengers and then outriders which isn't even supposed to be live service, can't get things right to save their ...game.

Well Square Enix has typically been a more jonest studio than the rest.Sure we paid subscriptions but that was the norm of the past but we never paid into any microtransactions.

My last 3 fave games  FFXI,Atlas and Valheim NONE had any microtransactions.Along the way i really enjoyed playing the Dishonored series, again no microtransactions.

HOWEVER,now the part i have been mentioning over and over. The ONLY reason we see games adding an online multiplayer feature with login is to facilitate a cash shop/seasons pass whatever.
SO since this game is just a single player game then obviously we will see no cash shop. You can bet 100% if this had online features it would have a cash shop and or seasons pass.
You can also bet ANY game Blizzard releases will have microtransactions and that has long been the difference between the two giants, one is very scummy and the other ,well a little less scummy.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

    cash grab imho.

Lateral cash grab with disney selling the licensing mostly because marvel is in decline with countless political beratings which for me I canceled D+, and Square enix needing cash injection through something they slap together. imho
Eh square Enix acquired licensing years ago for 4 marvel games. The game has been in development for a long time.

Marvel isn't declining either, and neither is Disney. Their stock has nearly tripled in price these days than 5 years ago when they were at the height of the MCU in the midst of setting up end game.

Stocks are manipulated constantly, might want to look deeper at disney relationships in China.. also your response feels fake.
Why would I care if it "feels fake", there's plenty of articles when the game went into production, and comic sales year over year prior to 2020 were up. The pandemic closed most comic stores. All that being said the only "decline" is related to production delays, and even then Disney+ has over 100 million subscribers as per their shareholders meeting 2 months ago. Part of those 100 million? Fans looking to watch star wars and marvel properties.

I have more than anecdotes. I don't care about looking at disney's relationships in China. It doesn't have any relevance to your incorrect statement that "marvel" is on the decline, or that Guardians is a "cash grab".

That was probably the most absolutely f*cking annoying gameplay demo I have ever heard. They went way too far trying to copy the MCU with that banter. After 2 minutes, all I was thinking was "shut up. shut up. shut the hell up."

Eh.....this really depends on what you play from them. FFXIV nickles and dimes the ever-loving crap out of people that 'choose' to pay extra and this is still the same company that did the Deus Ex Mankind Divided MtX (not just the 'choose your pre-order' junk that got shotdown, but the actual live MtX too, like purchasable consumables being tied to game saves).

But even EA can be redeemed since they put out Fallen Order, so maybe this can be the same.

I hate how long the presentation was (17 minutes) for this game and how the rest of Square Enix products got 2 to 5 mins. Especially with how the Avengers game turned out.

That's an unfair comparison given that it's not the same genre or the same studio. Eidos Montreal is way more talented than Crystal Dynamics ever was or ever will be.

That would be your opinion. Crystal Dynamics made the Tomb Raider series as well as the Legacy of Kain series which I find both to be a lot better than anything Eidos Montreal has made (although the Deus Ex games they made were good, not saying they were bad).

To be fair Eidos Montreal also helped with Marvel's Avengers too.
