Toxicity is something we all experience and witness in gaming. It sucks. Fortunately, the DC Universe Online team have made it easier to report toxicity.

An issue I see with reporting of toxicity is that there is very little, if any, feedback to the player in question that any action was undertaken on what they encountered, so it feels like fruitless endeavour. This extends to a variety of different games.

Whenever devs do stuff like this it makes me lose faith in them a bit like with SMITE. Unless all those emails will fall into an abyss and never be acted upon my opinion of EG7 dropped a tiny bit today..

PVP games will have toxicity which is why that universal toxicity remedy/cure 'ignore' feature already exists... gotta have that itchy 'ignore' trigger finger..

Emotions run high in competitive pvp games and sometimes harsh words are spoken but systems like this can and are abused by the people the game companies intend to protect us from.

That's nice. I doubt they have much in the way of staff to deal with such reports, but those that count thoughts will be happy.

I don't play DCUO much these days but from memory it was one of the less toxic comunity I encountered. Maybe the super heroes univers atract better peoples. Still good to have options just in case.

Tough to explain why these types of complaints are two faced and i'll try and draw a scenario to prove it.

So in a sport like hockey fighting does carry a slight penalty but it is not something frowned upon,no coach is going to scold a player or get rid of them for fighting.
The reason is the "environment is an aggressive one that can cause anger or heated moments.

Well in gaming if the developer THEMSELVES have create an environment that causes heated moments and anger THEY are the proponents of the resulting issues.
I have been saying this a long time, devs can't have their cake and eat it to.Yo ucreate a LAZY design because yoru budget is low,so you put al lthe eggs into pvp, well pvp has ALWAYS been since the beginning of online gaming a toxic environment.

So it is extremely two faced for the developer to create or facilitate the problem then scold others for doing exactly what is pretty much expected. You cannot simply say oh act mature or ELSE !!.
If someone walked up to you on the street and said your baby if ugly as sin i GUARANTEE a fit an rage/anger will ensue.Humans react as their brain sends out chemicals,we are never fully in control of our actions.

I have been saying it for a VERY long time,i want to see games LOSE the pvp and create an environment where players are helping each and getting along and there is only ONE entity that can do that>>>The developer. Quit pointing fingers and do YOUR part first.

Well, even if I like coop games, I really do not see why a game should get rid of PvP!!! That is rather extreme! Some people enjoy PvP.

Toxicity is part of PvP. Want to play PvP? Be ready to get some toxicity in your face as soon as the game is team based. Want to play PvP with limited toxicity => play non team-based PvP. At worse you gonna get tea-bagged.

But it doesn't have to be.

It's essentially people losing sight of the game aspect and letting their issues bleed out.

There are plenty of people who love PVP who aren't disrespectful who aren't abusive, who don't take their losses out on people.

The people who can't put that in perspective need a bit of help.

The community is one of the first things I look at when I start a new game....You can tell pretty quickly what the genral vibe is....Like I knew after about 2 minutes that Eve was toxic, same with LoL and most team based shooters I have tried. I rarely ever encounter it in PVE only games though
