If you thought the MOBA genre wouldn't get any more cluttered, think again, as the Pokémon Company is getting their feet wet by launching Pokémon UNITE this summer. The upcoming MOBA will see life on the Nintendo Switch as well as iOS and Android devices this year.

Its a moba. There will offcourse be skins
Lmfao there is nothing shady on skins in a moba. Its what makes it possible that the moba can pay their server, development rtc et .
If f2p isn't enough to send up red flags,TENCENT should be the final red flag to warn you to stay away. They were also not as direct in saying "cosmetics only"which all devs like to use as an excuse so imo this will not be cosmetic only.
So the game design?
Well i assume it's like a football field or soccer whatever you want to call it.It will have berries you can collect to get hp recovery, npc's to kill top get energy.3 different Unite attacks i think all 3 use energy.Easier to defend than attack as you move slower in the attacking zone but faster in your zone and equal in middle zone.
More design?Well you can heal by standing on your goal line and you can warp back to your goal line to help defend. You can see your players on the map as well your opponents if they are in your other players line of sight. The goal is to score and if scoring you cannot attack,so sounds like once a scoring attrmpt is made the entire team needs to group together to make that happen. The fact you move so slow in the offensive tells me you'll need to stick together.
Strategy?well i don't see any offhand but this does lead to cheating being a real issue. This is because there will be an elite npc that spawns from time to time that will give more i assume energy reward.
One other possible cheat?Well a player can possibly hide or be completely invisible if standing in grass,so i imagine there will be cheats to reveal location of hidden players.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Imo it will revolve around the Unite powers and being able to use different ones. These Unite powers are likely going to have levels so that can be exploited like typical mobile games where you have to make purchases then combine those into sets then upgrading as you go.
IMO the special rare npc's that will spawn are the key to victory as they can also give valuable perks that make it easier to get in for a score like barriers/shields.SO i expect early on to hear lot's of talk around cheating and the rare spawns.
I should also mention that as the game progresses longer it takes more time to warp back to your goal line to defend.
I personally think the design sucks but hey it's a moba how good could it ever be?

Because this is the first Pokemon game ever that deviated from that original format.
Pokemon has been turned into many things other than that over the years, so that they are doing it again is nothing new.
I expect Nintendo will be well satisfied with the revenue this departure generates.
This is actually one thing I can support in Micro Transactions, just like with Fortnite.
Selling skins is perfectly fine and keeps the game fully playable without artificial paywalls and P2W mechanics, like the typical trash mobile / F2P game out there.
In short you have no real advantage by paying aiont having the character you want faster. and since the character are ballanced buying a character will not help you win the game.
That's my favourite F2P model. If pokemon Unite follow the same path I see no reson to shout at the shop.
If you honestly think making FF into an MMORPG was a stupid idea you are truly deluded.
Making a popular RPG into an MMORPG is an obvious next step and FFXIV is one of the top MMORPG currently released, making Square a ton of money.
But keep telling yourself it was a mistake because your some loner.
