If you had New World hosting a fashion show on your 2021 Games Industry Bingo Card, you can mark that bubble off right now. Amazon is ramping up its PR ahead of New World's launch in August, this time showing off some of the armor you can earn in game.

I dig it.
No, the Devil wears Aeternum now!
They have all the money in the world and still decide to copy the most low budget looking eastern MMO designs out there..
Either they're pandering or they genuinely believe that eastern styles are better looking and if that's the case makes them nothing but vision-less copycat posers..
Take all the style rich possibilities of alternate colonial America and transforming it into some wanna-be eastern mobile MMO has people over at Pearl Abyss, Nexon + every other SK company laughing their A's off right now...

Do you like to already know EVERYTHING in the game or do you like to be surprised and discover things as you play?
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Well devs are NOT about making great games, right now studios are looking for that "ACCEPTED" sweet spot, how little can they do,what can they get away with both from LACK of and from a cash shop perspective.
I think people have already forgot that Amazon was going to release this to you as a VERY sub par half assed game a year ago,so they had NO INTENT of even trying to deliver a AAA game budget or no budget.
So apparently they tested the game and HOPED it would get a pass so they could just release it but the feedback was negative, not what they wanted to hear.

I mean .. the video is not the best I seen, but if you are really comparing New World with some .. low budget looking eastern MMO's, than you need some glasses.
I've played it in one of their Betas and it looks very good. Maybe you need to youtube some ..videos?
Or here, let me help you :
Reporter: What's behind Blizzard success, and how do you make your gamers happy?
Blizzard Boss: Making gamers happy is not my concern, making money.. yes!
Also, if you don't painstakingly mix and match sets for the best, most unique look possible, step down and let the real fashion warriors show you a real character.
Is it a early America or early Asia game?
The building design is obviously pagoda-esque https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pagoda
2:39-2:46 on the left side in the back are BAMBOO trees. You know that thing Pandas eat?
The tree the characters walk by on the left is a Cherry Blossom tree.
The path/bridge the characters walk on is Japanese style design. If you visit Japan many of the tourist sites and forest paths have exactly the same design and it's what you'll walk on.
The hanging asian lanterns are hanging asian lanterns..
So again... is New World a early 'America' game or early 'Asia' game?
"Is New World based on real history?
No. New World is set in an alternate-history in the twilight of the Age of Exploration, and takes place on the fictional and supernatural island of Aeternum in the 17th century."

"The colonialism stuff: there's no way to tell that story in a good way," Lane told me. "We are not that. This is not in America. We don't have any history from America on the island. There's nothing there that would tie us to America."

I guess they avoided setting it in America because of "problematic" associations with colonialism.
The game actually plays like ESO than your typical mmo.

In todays MMOs beta does not truly exist any more, for a number of reasons. Developers want to grab players who like to play early creating a buzz about the game, when MMOs began and up to the late 00's when Facebook really took off social media did not exist. Also back then a wipe before launch was standard, but if you are going to have a cash shop which is also being "tested" you don't want to do a wipe, though you could refund the in game currency typically players in the game for "beta" have a head start now. Where NW will fall on this spectrum I am not sure, but they may have already announced their intentions.
