So, is there any way to turn off the dotted .............. line that leads you to your quest objectives?
I find it distracting.
I am a bit, positively, surprised you got the game. Any first impressions or comparisons to other games you’d like to share? The game intrigues me in an Asta kind of way.
/Cheers, Lahnmir
I had tried it in the beta but wasn't really taken with my first few levels as it is a very VERY linear game. From my first few levels, it seems the leveling process follows a "go here and experience a story bit and then run and kill 3 things and then more story bit and then collect a thing/interact with a thing, rinse and repeat" etc.
So that part is pretty crappy.
My thought is that the "real" game, at least for someone like me, is after all that is done and then there is a pvp bit as well as a dungeon bit.
I thought that could be worth it given what I've seen so decided to continue it.
I will say that I absolutely love the art style. I'm very curious about housing but strongly suspect it's a bit like Black Desert where you buy housing styles through the store if you want anything. I say that because I saw housing stuff in their store.
Now, that in and of itself isn't a bad thing, but I'd rather just build/design my house and house area from current tools/assets already part of the game.
I'm disappointed that I can't have the Chinese language with English subtitles. I can change to the Chinese language but then no subtitles.
But "whatever."
I like the whole "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" esthetic so having flying characters in that vein are fine for me.
I also suspect that there might be some "Asian game whimsical silliness" to come but we'll see how much that bothers me.
And when I say that I mean having a birthday cake for a hat, or wearing a whimsical duck outfit or fighting with a giant carrot.
That stuff.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."

Thanks, I really dig the looks as well. I took a serious look at the UI because most of these games look like someone threw up icons all over the screen. Not this game, it looks clean and organized in that department (pay attention BDO!!).
Going to check on crafting next, curious about that too. Housing is a bonus but not a needed feature for me, I always love the idea but spend little to no time with it when actually playing.

It is just huge resource waste....'
Gdemami absolutely not being an armchair developer
I look everyday for a new mmorpg or a new survival game and wouldn't give this game a second thought.I can spot junk immediately just like i did with Aion...Genshin all these way overrated piles of crap.
Crowd funding and f2p models have NEVER produced a game of any worth.
Point of note, it's not crowdfunded nor is it free to play.
Lol,just got found out he just likes to hate,FfXi has made him bitter.
I refunded the game after 1 hour. This is the definition of having too much theme park. The game tells you how to play, there is no exploration or anything other than DO THIS QUEST, THEN DO THAT QUEST.
Even killing monsters grant 0 xp and 0 loot. Everything is just based around linear questing and at the end it will be dailies/weeklies.

No thanks
It is a game made by and marketed for communist China, where people are told what to do and when to do it lol.
Some of the complaints/hate in this thread is pretty wild. Sure the game is not perfect, for exmaple:
The English Dub - This is bad, they need to make it so Chinese with English subtitles work correctly, or improve the dub drastically.
Optimisation - Some issues, certainly in crowded places, this will be resolved with the eventual engine upgrade. That could do with happening sooner rather than later.
Other than the above two points, the game feels great. Sure it is on wheels starting out, no more or less so than having to do the MSQ on FFXIV or Questing through WoW areas. That said, the story is a little off in places but I wouldn't say it's terrible. SOLO doesn't really break any new ground, but does many things that have already been done really quite well. As far as themeparks go SOLO is pretty spot on, and I'd say anyone who has enjoyed WoW and certainly FFXIV should give it a try, especially if/when the price drops. I'm looking forward to delving into the many systems more, as I've not really scratched the surface. I'm also hoping that it is true, that endgame opens the world up. Either way I'm having fun!
Oh and just to add; the soundtrack is immense!

This is the part that concerns me. I've been watching a friend play it, the drops are bad and he said the same thing: It'll be resolved with the engine update.
Last I heard they're 6 months, at best, away from that, up to a year. To me, it's a glaring performance issue they should be working to fix now, not much further down the line.
But the rest of the game looks good. Combat seems just good enough to keep me going (BDO being my gold standard. I love BDO combat). Linear questing is a tried and true method of leveling in MMOs, so it's certainly not something we're not used to. Honestly I don't mind it and themeparks give you nothing but direction which, a lot of the time, I prefer.
I reckon it'll occupy my time for a bit with the PvP in the endgame as well. Looking forward to it.

I fully agree with you regarding the need to solve the optimisation issues as a priority. I've not had it be massively impactful on my gameplay thus far, but even so, the game can easily run better. Here is hoping they push the update through sooner due to demand.
I too am a BDO player (for my sins XD) and find it hard to play none action mmos due to being spoilt with BDO's - as you rightly put it - gold standard combat. I can't say that SOLO has the same standard, but it is a good standard; probably the best we have had from a themepark WOW/FFXIV esque MMO thus far, and that in itself is a plus for me at least.
Hopefully you get some enjoyment from the game, as with any, it takes some getting used to. The dub is truly awful to the point of it being meme level amusing, they have stated this is being worked on and it truly needs to be... desperately, even just text would have been better - although not as amusing. Until it is sorted I'll go for chinese with subtitles which seems to be working for many now, I'll give it a try this evening.

I can assure you that it does. I hit max lvl saturday night and since then the world opened up massively, there is just so much to do it's insane.
It's really sad that a lot of people are gonna refund this because of the linear leveling experience which in this game is meant as a long tutorial but this different approach is something that most people are not used to. I don't blame them but it still sucks.
This game really just starts at Student 1 (lvl 36+1 which is max lvl in SOLO)
It's funny because I thought this was supposed to be a PvE game, and iit was billed such; but it would seem once you hit max level it's open season haha. I guess people are complaining about that too now. Apparently the majority that picked this game up, didn't do so for pvp. Who would've thought? The people doing the Pking have to spend 8 hours in a virtual prison (realtime) People will just use PK bots to get around that system. xD So stupid.
First congrats on three posts to shit on a game that you totally not care about. That's dedication. Stay positive!
To clear up some misinformation on the pvp matter:
There is a quest that introduces you to the two faction pvp system. The quest turns on pvp mode which you have to turn off manually. After that theoretically you still can get attacked but the attacker gets some massive penalties that it's abolutely not worth it. My guess would be that some people don't know they have to turn off the pvp mode after this quest
Also about the part about the fiery wings
"Lol Someone stated that the Fiery Wings (Flying Mount) is limited to 7 days. No where in the sales description does it state this. False advertising."
It's a translation error, it says that you have 7 days to claim your wings.
Try reading more then the headline from some reddit post in a reddit thread about a game that you don't care!
Nope, check my post above! Once I have turned off my pvp-flag no one attacked me because there are massive penalties if you kill someone who is not flagged for pvp making it very unlikely that someone ever will but yes there is still a slight risk that it still might happen.

If you pvp what is the penalty for losing? xp loss? Drop gear? Must be something?
As far as i know you'll get to prison so you're locked out of playing for some time but I don't know how long and I've heard that in prison you can finish some tasks to shorten your failtime. But please take this info with a grain of salt as I am not 100% sure on this.
As a small update I still haven't been attacked by anyone as long as im not flagged for pvp
Just to confirm, I have swapped to chinese langauge with English subtitles, and it is farrrrr better, still annoying in places but way less meme. That said, I still hope they fix the English dub!
Still really enjoying the game the more I play. Even with the start to student being linear, the systems are really fun. Did anyone else find the origimi world really cool with all the jump puzzles XD?
Also, I know I've said it before, but the soundtrack is immense...

In china they have this weird system where they pay per hour. I've heard it's a quite common practice for MMOs they've got.
