New World's official launch might be August 31st, but the MMO is gearing up for its closed beta test starting on July 20th that many see as a "soft launch" of sorts. The team at Amazon Game Studios took to their blog to start detailing to testers what to expect on the 20th.

Well I guess I'll wait a few days for beta then.
Closed beta there is no NDA so you will get lots of info to decide. Also if you pre-order you get access to Beta and if you dont like it, it easy to get a refund as long as you cancel your order before Aug 31st. So you can make up your own mind if you want.
1. All Alpha testers said the game never suffered lag, even after a wipe and everyone was crammed into the starting areas.
2. Amazon is the king of server farms and know how to scale servers on the fly well with their tech. My bet is NW will be one of the smoothest launches we will see. But I could be wrong.
I only dabbled in it during Alpha, not wanting to ruin the experience, but I thought it was promising.

not only that, i'm used to the whole alpha beta phases and so fort when I had the time, and that was years ago, no game survive the first month without stability issues, so why you belive this will be diferent?
take note every launch day exist what I call the locust swarm, they will jump in the game first month consume everything they can then bail after, with also bring the issues up front because most of the time company don't deal with this because they know it would be a waste money to invest, but after a week or 2 they had to invest a little or the very least rent some extra to deal with the influx to prevent the refunds, in the end don't matter what game is it, jumping first month for MMORPG is asking to suffer, I ahd to do this on pso2 NGS, because I already was playing the original one, and everything you expect in the launch day happened
I talked myself into pre-ordering again and checking out this "new and improved" version. Maybe I won't cancel this time
See you all next Tuesday.

We shall see if they turn out a decent game after the horror stories of bad dev's, Amazon game studios not being able to build a decent game, and the disappointment from them changing the game focus from mainly PVP to more PVE focused game.
Hope they pull it off....we can use all the decent games we can find.

Nahh.. it's just that, these were the developers that were like "We made this Open World PvP game and the players ganked each other, who would have thunk it"
They have seemed to have made the making of New World, be reality Show of Game Development where the Devs are been hell bent to not learn from any other mistakes made by other developers.
So.. I am not touching this game till after the tolls have turned this into a smoking pile of runes, and they caught a clue in the aftermath.
I wager 6 months might be a long enough window, they seem very responsive, if this was, say Blizzard acting the same way, I would just write the game off for a decade, but.. I'll give them the fact that have had a very fast response time.
Edit: and I wasn't questioning your opinion. I see the fact that you've changed your mind recently while playing alphas for several years as a good sign.

the devs really listening and making changes, but i don't think listening to players is always the best move, you get a designed by committee game, where you waste a lot of dev time making PVE content, when its a PVP game
to Stizzle, i was playing this on a 980 fine, it can run on last gen cards pretty well. Its optimized very well.
