Amazon Game Studios announced today that it was delayed their upcoming MMORPG, New World, by a month today. This isn't the first time the MMO has been delayed, and now the anticipated MMO will launch on September 28th.

    Everyone saw this coming. I think it will be good for the game. They need to do some more work on questing and server stability. It's a fun game, so I don't mind waiting.

    I agree that it isn't up to par. However, I don't think it will change anytime soon, maybe later down the road.

    I was kinda looking forward to playing this until Lost Ark, now I don't know what to play. I guess I'll just focus on my Steam backlog for a while.

    It is very unfortunate, but its better they delay it since the alternative could feel like a paid beta for some.

    Only issue I have is that it's now launching on my Anniversary and I will miss the first week of launch.

    Well, guess they aren't up against any real competition. MMO's are in a dry spell right now. I'm actually impressed they are holding off "IF" they are addressing the challenges discovered over the last couple of weeks in testing/playing

    I am upset for sure I feel the game could have launched and fixed with balance patches but they want this to be the smoothest launch possible.  There are some glaring balance issues with some builds and some xp exploits that need to be addessed.  However I hope they dont mess with pvp scaling to cater to the streamers.

    Im sure we will get another CB to test the new changes.  I guess Crowfall has me for another 2 months.

    I can only applaud this, you only get to grab the world by storm once with a MMO. New world has everything to have a big active userbase especially with their no subscription payment model.

    May seem like a low priority for some but their char creator is lacking in two ways. One options, making RPers unhappy they cant RP the char they envision. 2nd area is much worse. Inclusiveness. Sure you can make your char have many different skin tones but the face options were mostly white in nature. Also body types were all standard white frames. My Jamaican wife can not make a char in any way, from face to body share look like her. I get head placements need to stay where they are for combat but there is needs to be more options that skinny frames only. Its down right sad for 2021. We have the tech.

    A shame, I really was looking forward to play it. However, fixing bugs for a smoother launch is always good. Guess we'll have to wait an additional month.

    I wonder what I can play in the meantime..

    Re-skin is one thing and I'm sure those will be sold. Re-shape is something different altogether if they want to have tight, wrap around hit and hurt boxes.

    They could wing it and go with generic, large, one size fits all, boxes but in a game with precise aiming, that would stick out like a sore thumb.

    Selling a char model that lets a black person get that body frame they identify with would be a huge fail.

    This is a game that needs months and months of more development time to release as a great product.
    One month delay won't do much to fix everything that's wrong with it and some of it (quests for example) just comes down to fundamental design that can take a really long time to change/be reworked.

    That is really unfortunate, now NW will have to wait for a while since I will be balls deep in D2 Resurrected which launches September 23rd. At least, being from the Netherlands, I do not have to “worry” about playing Lost Ark in the near future…..

    'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless. 

    It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

    Welp how novel amazon seems to actually be using a beta for what a beta is meant for!

    This mean I will pretty much be preordering 2 copies as it will give me a little more time to gather more pocket change!

    This is one of those modern-day, pseudo-mmo's that is really just one of those survival craft BR's. The questing is borderline non-existent. Literally nothing but brainless collect x/kill x chores. The entire map feels like the same zone aesthetically. Boring and meaningless gear. Cookie-cutter and vanilla "me too" combat. Just let the MMO genre die already, y'all are doing it zero favors.

    As sad as this news is, it's not unexpected. I hope the extra month gives them the time they need to iron out more of the game's flaws. I still really enjoyed the beta, warts and all.
