The New world beta was fun, but I think if they gave it 6 more months to get more PvE content especially the dungeons, add some more character creation, balance and fix the bugs they could have a very solid launch.
Amazon treated their beta like a beta and they should see it through.
This is great news imo. The beta was great fun, however, the game can certainly be improved in multiple areas. I'm happy to see a studio taking care of their game pre-launch and even listening to their playerbase. Here's hoping they do this right.

Maybe the dreadful char creator may get some love. Its no where near triple A quality.
I agree that it isn't up to par. However, I don't think it will change anytime soon, maybe later down the road.
May seem like a low priority for some but their char creator is lacking in two ways. One options, making RPers unhappy they cant RP the char they envision. 2nd area is much worse. Inclusiveness. Sure you can make your char have many different skin tones but the face options were mostly white in nature. Also body types were all standard white frames. My Jamaican wife can not make a char in any way, from face to body share look like her. I get head placements need to stay where they are for combat but there is no ready body shares need to be for skinny frames only. Its down right sad for 2021. We have the tech.
We have the tech and they have the Shop to fill Would not be surprised if they launch and then sell "re-skins" in the shop later
Re-skin is one thing and I'm sure those will be sold. Re-shape is something different altogether if they want to have tight, wrap around hit and hurt boxes.
They could wing it and go with generic, large, one size fits all, boxes but in a game with precise aiming, that would stick out like a sore thumb.
The only area this would matter is the head. Bow and Muskets get head shot. Shoulder are the widest part of the body on current model. Making the lower end of the body with the potion to be just as wide, would be all you need to do and not even adjust the hit box. People would quickly get where they need to hit. Just like in other games where Ogre and Gnomes have the same hit box.
I'm fairly certain this is for the glaring exploits in the game. A month isn't long enough to add any real polish and certainly not long enough to overhaul the pathetic excuse of a questing system.
I think Amazon is just doing it out of the goodness in their hearts. After seeing the Crowfall vs. New World videos on youtube, they're probably just want to give Crowfall a little more time to establish itself.
To me this looks like a straight up ploy to have two launch parties.
Even the very first Beta or whatever it was called a year ago i am sure sold quite a few pre orders without having to be scrutinized as a finished game.
What the hell do you think they are going to pull off in one months time>>>>NOTHING.
Nothing but a marketing strategy, lame Amazon,i hope they accomplish nothing with this tactic.
I bet their team leadswere predicting real big numbers and didn't get them.I am 100% certain they saw the 4-5 million units Valheim sold and thought they would easily sell 5 and hoped for closer to 6/7/8 million. The game hit 200k +/- concurrent players during it's peak ,to me that means around 5x so around 1 million players or you could inflate that and be a marketing genius and tell people you sold 2 million units.
Considering the cost and overhead of this expensive studio and that Amazon a billion dollar business doesn't like to dicker with small numbers, this would be considered a failure. We also need to figure in the studio hasn't really done anything successful as a whole yet.
The only amusing part will be to see their NEXT strategy because this 2 release imo is not going to do them a damn bit of good. They have one ace up their sleeve, the business plan all along was figuring in the amount of money Amazon makes and could easily use the gaming division as a tax deferral.
IMO if this was anyone else other than Amazon>>>>filed for bankruptcy or sold real cheap.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Ok i do read a LOT but i don't tend to follow Amazon because well i don't like possible monopoly giants.
None the less i did some reading and seems Amazon did have other reasons for the gaming division.I also like to point out they spent 250 million for the rights to LOTR and that failed game idea but they still have the rights. Just another business plan,to cash in on a popular IP<i do not for one minute expect them to have put in a good effort on that game either.
Time flies....
Hard to beleive they started this in 2012 !!! NINE years of almost nothingness including that 250 mil rights to lotr and other investments as well.
So their plan is the big picture which makes sense,it all has to do with Amazon PRIME.They hope to have a gaming venue sort of like Netflix with exclusive games and lock users in to their entire platform/ecommerce/Twitch prime etc etc.
We also need to remember part of that picture is Twitch and they make a load of ad revenue there as well.MY point being this is not as simple as i thought,an easy place to spend their billions but instead a very big picture of world dominance in the gaming market and beyond with advertising revenue.
Oh did we forget about Eve online/Black Desert online?Yep Pearl Abyss partnered with Amazon to target that which i mentioned >>>Amazon Prime. You have to link your Eve account to Amazon and i am not sure if is still free but BDO was free through Amazon Prime.
Just more background into the true nature of this BUSINESS,do not get your hopes up that Amazon cares at all about gaming quality.

I'm in my 60's and been gaming for over 30 years. I was in Beta with my wife and 3 other gamer friends. In light of whats been happening in the U.S. the past 1.5 years, THIS was the only thing we were looking forward to. We all spent over 70 hours in Beta and had a blast! After all the other delays we were SO excited about starting this new game in 27 days.
While playing in Beta and learning everything we could, none of us found anything bad except for a little lag at times.
Now, ANOTHER delay??????? This is #4 over a year! So, ALL of us are done. Our excitement is completely shattered. Yesterday I was approved for 3 days of PTO at game start. THIS was my vacation for over a year and now it's gone. Going to cancel my time off, forget this ever existed and move on to another game expansion coming out later this month. We are ALL moving on. WAY too many disappointments from Amazon. Waiting over 1.5 years and not THIS?
NOT acceptable, especially when it was fun and playable during Beta. We all expected for them to launch earlier than the 31st because it was so good.
That's what we get for getting excited for something new! Lesson learned for all of us.
Oh, and we're ALL going to request refunds due to the fact that we were all misled. We pre ordered on the promise that it was being released on August 31 as advertised. Not cool Amazon! Not cool at all!
This is the right decision. As much as I want to play this game again, it isn't quite ready. One hope is more dungeons and getting rid of the keying requirement which is really weird to have for low level dungeons.

Its good enough. Honestly Most character creation systems are overkill esp in Asian games.

lost ark in this date...
imao, they need to polish more and release in 2022
there's content for a month and ppl will forget it,
Also, by delaying it yet again, players are going to have expectations through the roof at this point.

the game is good but it’s far from great. So many negative and probably 1-2 positive

Carrier Command 2 is out on the 10th. Not an MMO but if you got friends it looks fun.
So what exactly is the end game loop in this game? Various alliances periodically battling for control of regions?
