Opening Aeternum to the public, New World will be hosting a new beta ahead of its September 28th launch. The open beta itself will run from September 9th through the 12th.

    Interesting opinion of Steam. Lately, I'm of the mindset that I'll 'only' play a game if it's available for DL from Steam. Always spyware free for me. Plus, I liked the auto-saved config settings, save-games, and a central repo for games & screenshots.. et al.

    Three days? I hope they really have sorted the overloaded server issues for launch day. It took me a couple of days before I could even join a server at the beginning of the closed beta.

    If you havent tried it out yet.  I would highly recommend giving it a spin.  I was always on the fence about this game until i tried the recent beta.

    How very old school of them having a free for all open beta like all MMOs used to do years ago.

    Seems like this is becoming a thing again with demos and open betas for many games over the past month or so. Try before you buy is as games consumer friendly as it gets.

    It'll also be great to log-in again and see the (likely) last patch notes before release.

    I guess you don't know  or did not relaise that steam IS the spyware. I'm talkng about. Very few do

    You did make me laugh there, we are gamers and the cynicism runs deep. But if they do decide to delay it again I think it will be with good reason; end of the day you want a solid launch with good reviews' if they have the money to put it back again and think they should then fine. I do think it must come out for the Xmass rush though, so regardless you are not going to have that long to wait.

    Probably due to the popularity of the title and the hype build-up, so this could be seen as a positive. This kind of absurdity is very common in game forums.
    When you see some of the stuff going on elsewhere we are an oasis of tranquillity by comparison. :)

    The subreddit is not much better. The bellyaching there seems to center mostly around some people whining that servers in Australia are not good enough to be real SEA servers so they want another cluster somewhere else.

    There are of course also the conspiracy theorist who think the open beta is just to manufacture a new excuse for another delay as well as the 3 days is not enough and why can't the open beta progress carry over into release crowd and every other imaginable whine.

    Then there are the ones who are still wanting it to be a full loot PvP game lol. From what I gather this is a brand new crowd, not the bitter alpha testers from a couple of years ago who left when they got rid of that nonsense.

    Good, interesting threads about the game are a very small minority.

    The subreddit has grown though. From <40K just before closed beta to >90K now. A very active sub but much more quantity than quality,

    People said the same about Cyberpunk but look at the vitriol CDPR got for delaying. And the delay was NEEDED.
