Elyon was delayed earlier this morning, moving into late October, but it wasn't the only announcement Kakao made regarding the MMORPG. The game is now free-to-play, and it's something that Nick thinks will benefit not only the Korean MMO, but its rival, New World.

In hoenens1's defense, only 11 of the 19 letters in his post are capitalized, and capitalizing three of them is justified.

Well I think the author hit the nail on the head. I had already decided to go with New World over Elyon, but now I get to try both.

I don't think SOLO and Crowfall have been doing too well, but I am only getting that info from other forums of old bitter MMO players (not hating, I surely count as well). Bless Unleashed came out on Steam last month and didn't do great (but maybe is doing good enough? 35k player peaks as a F2P title should be enough to keep the doors open, hopefully. Reviews are not being kind though, and I didn't like it much myself). Elyon was going to have a really tough time in this release window even if it was not F2P.

The F2P change and the release date move are both welcome.

Edit: After finally trying the new world beta I am no longer interested in it.  At least I do not need to pay to try Elyon, I do appreciate getting to at least see if the game has a decent foundation before paying.

SOLO is a great mmorpg, but losing players over time.

I think BDO's B2P is a strength of the title, Elyon will no doubt suffer from this decision.

Apparently then those players don't find it very great then or they'd likely stick around, usually how these things work.

As I recall except for it's earliest days BDO has usually had a very low "box price", say $10, not seeing it as much different than being totally F2P.

Reduces the number of burner accounts without creating too much of a barrier to entry I suppose.

It's an explanation of some point in a forum post, such as this sentence.

The image at the start of the article reminds me of Stargate SG1.

With all the F2P warriors we see on gaming media it seems to me charging $1 would get a better class of player. :)

Not surprised the beta I got in was pretty lackluster with dated graphics and boring floaty combat gameplay.

It's not worth a box price and I am not sure it's worth the time to DL.

I..don't know about you, but for some..reason, I've enjoyed my time in Elyon's Closed Beta. Yes yes, the "story" introduction and such, I skipped it as fast as I could, but ..I think is the combat which attracts me the most. I love the skills and what combos you can do with them. The combat is very fluid.

Also the (only) dungeon I've tried was pretty decent.

All in all, depends on how good New World is, I will definitely give it a fair try. When, is in the hands of New World! :)

PS: I like how humble the Kakao statement is. They really seem to care and as far as I know, they did a pretty good job handling Black Desert. Time will tell how they will manage Elyon.

I was starting to think I was the only person here who liked Elyon. Before the delay, I was planning on buying and playing Elyon over New World. I still liked NW too, but as you said, I really enjoyed the combat in Elyon, and that is what was making it my game of choice. I've always liked games that have large groups of mobs. Even though they aren't any more deadly than single foes, it still makes my character feel more powerful and the combat seems less boring to me.
