Everyone here acting like “company can do what they want, it’sa private business” completely ignoring all the government and laws that helped them gain and keep their control.
a true free market would allow for true competitors. Monopolies would be much harder to build.
I really think he's right up there with Elon Musk as far as elitist projection. These guys are rich, yet somehow they try to gaslight everyone into thinking they are also somehow just another victim of this oppressive system and attempt to prove it by squaring up to the "system" they are full participants in.

It isn't a monopoly by definition. Regardless, a "true free market" doesn't encourage willful breaking of contracts.

Exactly. And some here fall for the gaslighting and act like there's a good guy in this fight lol.

I think both companies are garbage. That being said if apple does not want something on the platform they built that's their business it would be a little different if google and apple were conspiring together to keep fortnight off to teach epic a lesson that would be too far.

Nope. In a true free market there would be nothing but monopolies because a TFM is all about the $$$ and the one who has the most will crush anyone trying to compete. The TFM hates competition because it cuts into their profits.

They only crush them using the laws created to allow it.
Build from the ground up on Etherium, Polygon or a gaming chain like Flow. Cut out apple and payment processors, gain more than 30% of profits back. Deplatforming is one of the biggest reason to develop using blockchain tech.
I'm sure they know this. I'm sure they have something in the works.
edit- here's a what if article from 3 days ago and another from tim talking about it from july.

You are still dead in the water if Apple/Google refuses to list you in their app store. Considering you have to submit your app for review, they can see exactly what you are doing, and well simply refuse if they don't get their cut, one way or another.

apple is a minority compared with Android. Monopoly laws don't apply.

I hate both companies, but I also try to be fair. Greed is the only reason for this suit but both companies are right to some degree. Apple shouldn't be able to block companies from allowing people to purchase X currency from their website or whatever. If a company wants to set up the infrastructure to process all that on their own thats on them. Apple should have no control over what goes on between a customer and game company on their system, once the customer is off their system. Conversely Epic has no right to force another company to put Epic products on their system for free out of the goodness of their heart. Epic doesn't like that they can always spend the years or decades of development (along with billions of $) and hard work to create, market, and launch their own mobile phone company and store. This whole lawsuit is basically South Park's Giant Douche and Turd Sandwich debate.
I dono why people game on apple anyways, it is like the worse everything for gaming. Their laptops are garbage, their desktops are garbage, their phones are garabage, and their tablets are garbage. None of them have oleds lol. Their 3000 dollar computer is equal to like a 1200 dollar laptop, even if you paid the sclapers you could make a better pc. As far as phones go especailly for gaming, apple is garbage, just like samsung which both over heat within 15 mins and underclock them selves. At least with android their are gaming options like the red magic 6 which has a fan, or asus, or blackdragon i think it is.
I personally feel Epic is like the "Apple" of the gaming industry. While not the largest player, they have an extraordinary influence through their engine, platform, and purchased exclusives. They may not have crossed anti-trust lines yet, but I think they skirt very close to that anticompetitive line.
If Epic were the Apple of the gaming industry, Unreal Engine would be exclusive to their store, only run on their hardware, and not be available to develop on for free.
Epic picked a fight with Apple. Of course Apple has to blacklist Epic for as long as they possibly can to make an example out of them. If the just kick Epic out for a few days and then let them back, they'll encourage others to cause trouble for Apple in the same ways.
I'm not really saying it's right or wrong. I am saying that Apple didn't become incredibly profitable by being stupid.

Exactly. People also seem to have forgotten that Google banned Fortnite from their Appstore as well, when EPIC tried to cut Google out with the same "out of app payment" bypass trick.

I'm trying hard to understand the slant of most of these responses. Anti mobile gaming? Anti Epic? I can't believe it's pro apple or even google in this case.
A blind man can see there is an unspoken trust between the two, which in this case is problematic for developers and gamers a like.

One is unique to Apple made products exclusively while the other is used by multiple manufacturers.
A better comparison would be Apple vs Samsung.
