The Engineer is about to get some pretty impressive new power with the introduction of the Mechanist as its Elite Specialization in Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons.

ranger has longbow and 2handed sword, he can change in combat between them.
The Engineer, lets say has a shield+gun and a rifle, he cannot switch rifle if he engaged with the gun, But he can however, put alot of "weapons" in his place of other classess skills, he can put a variety of weapons, he can swap between in combat, like FLamethrower, grenadekits and so on, and these all get 5 new skills where weapon skills are, so there are infact, quite alot of weapons he can use in combat and swap between, just not his 2 primary weapons .
Glad to see that it is still going, since more choices of games are better for all.
I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.
Personally, I think the real flaw of the engineer is how few weapons it launched with. While other classes are able to use their elite specs to gain access to crazy unexpected weapons, Engineer is still getting basic weapons that felt thematically missing from them (not to mention functionally missing since they launched without a melee weapon). Namely, Engineer should have launched with hammer and mace, not got them years later.
(If we get another set of elite specs, I'd like the Engineer to get a Longbow with Green Arrow style gadget ammo. Change the Tool Belt to a Trick Quiver.)
reaons you mentioned above, i enjoy the build im currently using, all evolves around the flamethrower, so i dont have to switch around very often. (almost never, its quite strong)
Im concerned about losing my gyros with my flamethrower if i have to try the new elite spec.
I do agree with everything you said though, and the arrow thing sounds like it could be pretty funny, great idea!!
IMHO, best build ever to just stomp through HoT.
Definitely great to keep Juggernaut on a build template.
Kinda sucked anyplace else TBH.
But really, it's great in any PvE zerg train environment. HoT metas, Orr, Drizzlewood Coast, Silverwastes, whatever.
It's also even safer to run now because Scrapper generates 15% of its dps as barrier. Which basically means that as long as you can do the damage, you won't die. Even with Berserker gear.
ah well, i didnt know any of this, just kinda enjoy using a flamethrower, i just recently lvled him, came back to gw2 due to my irl friend group is split on playing new world, and even though its a fun game with a guild, i much prefer such an environment with friends, makes for more laughs, and the grind feels smaller.
but gw2 i can enjoy both solo and in a group, so im just currently in orr, wanting to do all the xpacs storyline, while in the meantime hoping my discord group/friends group decides if they want to try out new world.
i had alot of issues with dx9, couldnt stand how it ran, even on medium, so this has given me some pleasure to find while exploring this beatiful world, and admittedly, waiting for an mmorpg i can see myself playing long term..i found myself googling pantheon today, then wondered if i had transitioned into another reality, but no, its still 13 years since the big kickstarters, and im still hopping between the same mmos, looking for virtual worlds.
I guess some gamers, atleast in my case, may be the living definition of insanity.
(as in repeating the same thing, but expsecting a different result) also, i just came home from a small party, not sober, so, i hope i can delelte this tomorrow, cause i dont think im making any sense! good friuday all!cheers
But once holosmith came out I decided to give it another try and level one up from 1-80. I freaking love the class now. The complex nature of the class is what makes it fun for me. After playing simple stuff for years, complex playstyles started becoming more appealing.
My favorites are currently the Soulbeast, Daredevil, Scrapper, and Firebrand.
