I know I took a break from it. I feel like they need to work on pacing a bit more and add some variety for leveling. I still have faith that they will get it straight though.

Steam charts miss at least 150k players.

Would like to know your source since the game is 100% on steam and has ZERO launch support outside of it?

Buying the game through Amazon even gives you a steam key, and you have to log into steam to authenticate your account... So, how is Steam missing 150k players?

What this site reminds me off recently:

There was a time where gaming sites where about supporting games and producing informative articles about them... you know, like how to level crafting, where the lore is, etc... I've been part of the IGN vault team, I've known sites like Maggie the Jackcat or El's Angling.

Right now, it's like a bunch of vultures only waiting for the next sensational event to get more hits from the internet and therefore get more advertising money.

    It's pathetic.

If it a game launches broken than it deserves to be called out. If people are leaving in droves it deserves to be pointed out. One of my favorite games last year was Cyberpunk 2077. I didn't complain when people made articles pointing out flaws and low sales

I think the difference he is pointing out are folks who are hoping for it's demise; kinda like they have axe to grind with every MMO. I mean this somewhat true, most MMO games have been the same old shite, and don't get me started on SC; but I think mostly when it comes to tossing a game this isn't it.

As humorous as it was with the sausage thing, I get it things happen, they keep introducing new bugs, i think they need an army to manage this game, and judging from the jobs they are hiring for, they are learning MMOs take a big team.

If it does well it could prove that sandbox lite games can work in this day and age. There are plenty of frustrating things about NW, but I feel it could turn into an almost perfect open world game, if people stop dumping on it.

We don't know how many players have quit the game.

Steam charts just shows the number of people that are online at any one time.

So, the Steam charts just shows that less people are online at the same time. Which could be from quitting the game or not playing as much per day and playing at odd hours like really late at night

There are never 100% of active players online at the same time.

The thing is, even if NW was polished it still would be mediocre, just like Fallout 76. If your online game endgame sucks, the game will suck. Endgame is really important in online games, especially in MMORPG's.

The drop in population is simply because the game in it's current state has numerous bugs that aren't being resolved and no real communication in sight about the games future.

The gameplay is boring, repetitive and discourages you from playing with friends.

People will cease dumping on it when it gets much closer to being a quality MMORPG, not the other way around.

I dont play near as much as I used to. I have been working on crafting. I finally got my first fae iron which I thought was a myth. Still have not received petrified wood yet. I have outfitting, cooking, and engineering above 100. Going to work on weapon smith next. The whole inventory / fast travel / having to go to certain towns with the proper tiered crafting stations is a bit tedious. There is just not enough storage for the enormous amounts of mats you need.

I am still having alot of fun playing. I have been playing since launch and taking my time with the game. My highest character is lvl 41 and yes there is room for improvement, just hope amazon will release a road map soon. The game world is done very well...very good surrounding.

If I were at end game or involved in faction wars I'd probably be upset.

Still < 30 level tho... so I'm good for now.

I hit 41 last night in Restless. I mainly play solo but I am pretty sure I will land up grouping with a Company. The folks that stay are often fun to game with.

Needs a better story, lore, actual quests (not generated), and do not lock the main story behind doing dungeons. Some people love mmorpgs but not everyone loves doing dungeons, like in my case. Once you can't continue with what little story there is, you ignore the game.

It's a sharp decline after the first month, which is in no way atypical. What is unusual is more are defending the game despite that rather than condemning it because of.

I liked the game, it has a good base. Basically what NW did is what WoW did back in the day. It took what was working for the other games and combine it into one. However WoW had a ton of lore and following from the warcraft games. My worry with NW is it was released so early that it never established that core base of followers to get away with it like WoW did or even FF14. I mean no swimming animation, tons of bugs, input delays, perks not working or working so well it makes people unkillable. There is like 5 different enemies to fight. For a high budget AAA game it really is more like an indie project.

Don't get me wrong it works, it is fun but to call it shallow would be an understatement. If they don't fix, update and add this game with be a thing of the past pretty quickly.

Level 60, still having as much fun as day one every minute I'm online.
Doing a lot of stuff with my company, but also solo most of the time.

This is Asheron's Call 2, the real one.

And I blame everquest (and WoW, and clones) to limit MMORPGs to fucking "end game". This wasn't true at all for UO or AC1.

Totally agree. If WoW's patch tomorrow doesn't resolve some issues for me I'm moving on for awhile. Last time I did that was the Cataclysm expansion.

You are literally making things up, STOP!

Amazon sold STEAM CODES, not a stand alone game.

Allow me to repeat... Amazon sold STEAM CODES!

You cannot play New World in stand alone, you must use Steam.

There is enough excuse-making and White-Knighting for the astoundingly poorly coded game. We don't need your random (100% made up) stats to protect Amazon Games. This game sold on hype but the stunning incompetence of the devs is becoming more and more revealed with each new bugs and game-breaking exploits.

NO, what is pathetic is white-knights that will go to any lengths to defend a game that should not be defended.

A dev team that releases a game in this horrendously broken condition should be CALLED OUT not defended and protected to the point of absurdity and lies.

I'll admit that the game should've cooked for at least another 6 months at least; however, there's nothing that can be done about that now. Its perfectly fine for people to back off for a while until some of these things get worked out (I'm one of them), but people shouldn't be condemned if they want to stay. There's a lot of things to do in the game (regardless of how people feel about said things to do) and some people want to do those since there's still things that can be done now that wont be changed later on (like skilling up weapons and leveling crafters, etc). Although GW2 and ESO didn't exactly launch in as much of a troublesome state as this game, they did still have quite a few issues that made a lot of people quit within a few months of launch, but they managed to turn things around after a while. It just took time. We need to at least give Amazon time to see if they can clean these things up as well. Just dont support them until they do if you have an issue with them. Of course is still entirely possible that they go the Anthem route and just slap some bandaids on things and tell people they are working on something else.

I heard alot of comments that said players were not going to stay much longer than a month...I sure wouldnt pay $40 for a MMO that I planned on playing for only a month.
