Typical korean mmo with easy and pretty satisfying leveling just to meet horrible endgame with tons of systems, currencies and forced elements. Classic paywalled weapon and armor improvement, work points, vip, paid pets and cards, etc.
Just add auto move and auto battle and it's your typical mobile f2p mmo.
And even though you can spent huge amounts of money you will need to level couple of alts( from 6 to be relevant to 10 to min max). Character slots are paid feature too btw.
And i don't know why some guys talk about POE and LE - nothing similar except for camera.
The summoner has no 100% uptime summons and is really more nukes and brief lasting Damage dealing over time than a summoner that keeps tabs on the status of its army. That's a hard pass for me and my silly niche gamrplay-style preference for ARPGs.
I played for 2 hours and found it to be a typical mmorpg dungeon crawler. Nothing really peaked my interest to stay and giving feed back was like banging my head on the wall.
It already has a toxic community that doesn't take criticism very well and thinks the game is just great the way it is. I've alpha/beta tested a lot of games through out the years and have never come across a community like this. Alpha/beta testing is supposed to be a time for players to give their opinion on the game so it doesn't go live broken but the community on LA acted like it was already live and everything was great, getting pissed when you brought the smallest thing to the devs attention that might make the game better in the long run.
The game isn't really worth putting too much time into unless you have nothing else to play

In our Bringing Lost Ark to the West article we shared our high-level philosophy and vision for what players in NA and EU can expect in our version of Lost Ark. Today we’ll share more information on the business model, along with some of the changes and adjustments we’ve made. We want Lost Ark to be fun and fair, so getting the business model right for our players is crucial. Smilegate RPG has made an amazing game, and we aim to honor their original design while increasing the accessibility of the game for our new audiences.
BUSINESS MODEL OVERVIEW
Lost Ark will be a completely free-to-play game with optional in-game purchases, Founder’s Packs, and other bundles released alongside new content. The in-game store features a vast array of cosmetic items for head-to-toe character customization, and convenience items such as auto-looting pets or items that allow you to access your storage while in the field. Additionally, players will have access to Mari’s Secret Store — offering special, rotating deals. Lost Ark also features a player-to-player trading post. The trading post allows the community to play an active role in the valuation of items and makes the economy within Arkesia highly flexible — letting players trade items as they see fit.
Amazon Games has been working with Smilegate RPG to update the business model to more closely align with Western norms and player expectations. Here are some key adjustments:
To ensure all purchases in-game feel optional, it is important players have a path to acquire all items in our in-game store without having to make a purchase. Most items are available with Crystals which can be earned by trading gold at a player-run exchange. Any item without a Crystal price will be tradable via the in-game trading post. This means that all items will be available for in-game, earnable currencies (with few exceptions, such as Founder’s Packs and services like name changes).
We have updated how pet features function. Originally, players would rent features on their pets each month and the pets would gain additional functionality. An epic-grade pet will be available for free as a quest reward in the early stages of the game. In our version, pet purchases are permanent and the features that were previously rented are now available through Crystalline Aura benefits. Auto-looting remains a default feature of pets, regardless of whether or not you have Crystalline Aura active.
We tuned the timing on Mari’s Secret Store to make products stay in the store for longer periods of time, giving players more time to make a purchase decision. Players will have 72hrs before items rotate out of Mari’s Secret Store.
We reconstructed the premium service, Crystalline Aura, to provide fair and fully optional benefits and avoid potential pay to win mechanical advantages. Examples of these changes include removing increased movement speed and increased combat XP from the Crystalline Aura benefits, and adding in some of the PC Cafe benefits, like half-priced ship tickets and free Triport trips.
IN-GAME CURRENCY OVERVIEW
Like many other free-to-play games, Lost Ark features several in-game currencies that serve different purposes. Below is an overview of the in-game currencies in Lost Ark and how they are used.
FOUNDER’S PACKS OVERVIEW
Interested adventurers can prepare for their odyssey by becoming a Founder. Your Founder's Pack will equip you for the many journeys ahead by granting you access to the upcoming Closed Beta, a 3-day head start access at launch, and stuffing your inventory with plenty of exclusive items to aid you on your adventures. You can find the full list of contents, pricing, and information on where to purchase on our Founder’s Pack page, and get a first look at the content available in them in our Founder Pack Content Showcase article.
LOOKING AHEAD
During our Closed Beta test beginning November 4 and running until November 11, players will receive 40,000 Royal Crystals when they first login, but no real money purchases or monetization systems will be active during this time. These Royal Crystals are for Closed Beta only, and will be removed after the beta along with the items you get with them. Since we are actively testing and refining the monetization systems in game during Closed Beta, players may see remnants of the original business model or parts of unfinished systems that are currently being tested. As this is a beta test, we may discover that some revisions are necessary and may make further changes as a result. We appreciate your patience and would like to hear any feedback you have on these systems or decisions.

I like the game so far. From what i seen the game gets really good once you get deeper into the game from the Korea content. I will not make it to max level because i will wait to the game comes out. The controls will take some time getting use to.
Impressions after a couple of hours. Which went by rather fast.
Script is terrible and what's the deal with having voice-over acting for the first bit of script and then silent click to proceed for the rest of the interaction? Either do all the VO or none of it.
Controls are definitely different, but between the customization in game, and the customization of my mouse software it was easy to get it to button-bash almost identical to other ARPGs I've played.
Visuals are very pretty, albeit very "Korean game" looking. If this style really bothers you then you'll not like this game. If you thought Aion was gorgeous when you saw it for the first time, you'll love Lost Ark, too, I suspect.

It is not uncommon to partially voice dialogue, but I agree it is more common to do it fully or not at all. I think partial is a good mix for a MMO and it is good to hear the MMO has quest text rather than minimalist questing we so often get today.
I am an anime fan myself so as long as graphics are good that's fine, it is good to hear the control system issues can be overcome. For me the monetary scheme may be a showstopper but not going to bother looking at that until it launches.
I haven't had the opportunity to pick it up yet, but I have a hard time picturing a control scheme worse than the click-to-move controls standard to the genre.

The good news is you can get a pet with one currency but did you know if you want to have that pet do things and use its skills beyond it looking cute, then you pay with a currency for a set time period. Basically you rent the pets skills. So buy a pet with one currency and then activate it with another. Huh?"
While I'm not one who believes in sub only, this paragraph reminded me of another game long ago (Runes of Magic) which "rented" everything by the month, mounts, storage, experience boosts, was F2P with micro-subs is how I viewed it, and had an actual P2W mechanic for sale it's cash shop.
My guild leader at the time asked if I was prepared to spend $600 to $800 in the cash shop (RNG of course) to upgrade my gear enough to start on the first tier of end game raid.
Since I was also paying for my son it would have meant double this amount.
I raised a complaint to the publisher who basically came back saying "git gud".

I understand @Quizzical problem with controls because that is somewhat a healthy approach, and to be honest, one of my own main reasons that I switched to playing on consoles.
But how can so many others cannot play this game using a mouse? I think average age of members here should be around 45 or something, you all surely have played years of RPG using similar controls. What's up with that?
PS. The reason I said 45 is because @Kyleran sole handedly has increased the average age by 10 years or so.

For me, its just not my style of combat for a long term game. Playing that style in a 40hr coop campaign can be a very enjoyable experience for me if the entertainment factor is there. But it just wont hold me longer term because of it.

I am 65+ most times I say I am 60+ so let's just say I am 60+ and I have been using a mouse and kb to play a lot of games. The thing is you don't have to keep clicking to move nor overuse the mouse in most MMORPGs. So perhaps your confusion is just a misunderstanding of how one plays an MMORPG. Unless you are a terrible player no one clicks on skills with the mouse in an MMORPG. As for single player RPGs most are turn based so your navigation isn't continuous clicking either and does not require long use of the mouse. I don't play action combat I play mainly turn based.
I have also played a lot of ARPGs starting with Diablo , Path of Exile, Torchlight, Grim Dawn, Dungeon Siege, Titan Quest, Warhammer Inquisitor Martyr, Hellgate London, Wolcen to name a few. Most of them had a force move key or WASD controls. I don't have problems playing them. This game unfortunately relies on clicking and my hands are just too frail for it.
I am sure you younger folk do not have the misfortune of losing the ability to play long hours clicking on things. I really wanted to play this game but upon discovery of its controls for navigation I am worried what the long term use of the mouse will do to my hands, arms and elbow having experienced pain in other games I refuse to suffer it. Most of you are lucky to not have to worry about these things.
I do not have any issues about using the skills since I can map them to various keys but it is the navigation that is a problem and the way the navigation on the controller is also bad. You still have to click on the sticks to make the move not just hold them with your thumb to guide it. This is really a bad way to design the navigation.
So having tried both the mouse and controller I realised I cannot play it. I am also unable to macro a toggle as my mouse software does not not have that option. I will order a Logitech mouse when this game releases in March and try again then.
I am sure most of you find it unfathomable that some of us have this difficulty and I see I also angered fans of this game enough for them to leave a post on my wall and send me messages for my earlier remarks accusing me of being prejudiced towards Asian games. Anyone who knows me will know this is not true. I am a huge fan of anime, I read mangas, Manwhas and watch chinese animation which is called Donghua. I have defended many Asian games and am a little saddened to be thus accused.
I am sure there is a brilliant game behind these controls but unfortunately I am unable to access it. I believe it would have been so much better if they only put in a force move key instead of the autorun key.
I could use the autohotkey but I am not willing to risk my Steam account.

Nah mate I was just genuinely interested. You named a lot of games that you had played before, and in my mind this game is pretty similar, and I couldn't remember people complaining about the controls for those games, hence the question.
The thing is I like this game, so I'd like to help others to get into it. I asked to learn about the problem so maybe I could offer a solution. Thank you for explaining.
Although I am VERY young, a youngling to be accurate (honest to god), I too suffer from similar problems, I don't play with mouse that much anymore as well. And this game has caused my index finger to start acting up again, literally, when I hold a mouse I can't keep it down, so I have to left-click with my middle-finger.
Don't worry about the accusations good sir. People have gone bananas.

I understood what you were saying about not being able to physically play this. In fact based on some of what you stated in earlier posts and what I read from other players complaining about the same thing I was inclined me to leave feedback on the very subject of accessibility in the Western market.
They need to add some new binding abilities for players since it's not very accessible for people with chronic conditions or disabilities. Heck even I have to give my hands a break after hours of playing. Not sure if they will get Smilegate to listen, but we can only hope.
This game has the worst control scheme... to think when there is Diablo, these guys would mess up the controls probably as bad as Last Epoch, if not worse.
The game is literally unplayable. I also don't understand why anyone would be excited about a game locked in isometric view with horrible controls in 2021. If it was 2003, I would be OK with with, but now that's just an insult.
As with any camera angle, isometric is a valid view with its own advantages and disadvantages. Namely, it provides the highest situational awareness and field of view of any camera angle, making it the ideal choice for strategy games and most genres that deal with high enemy counts.

Dear Kyleran,
Thank you for your well-thought letter. Your wit and kindness always warms my blackened heart.
Okay I just realized what you meant. I don't know everything about this game, but I can explain a few stuff that might be useful to you.

Cost: 420 Blue Crystals for 30 days
Pet
Pet Effect: are random when you register a pet. I have +3% HP and +4% Domination for example. Cost 120 Blue Crystals for 30-days
Pet Function: Pet inventory, Market and Auction House, Repair, Remote Mai, etc. Cost 120 Blue Crystals for 30-days
All of these, are of course, for more convenience. In my opinion, one can totally ignore them. But, if you want them, you can obtain them in one of the two (or the combine of the two :P) following ways:
1) Paying with real money: You can buy Royal Crystals. Since right now you can't buy any, I can't know how much it is. But on the Russian server 5000 RC is about $60. Which gets you about 2000 Blue Crystals. So if you'd want to get all of the above you have to pay 660 Blue Crystals per month; = ~ $20 per month. If you buy the bigger package of RC, that price will be reduced to ~$16 per month. But no one does that, because you are getting Blue Crystals by playing this game, so you'd never have to pay that much to have those buffs activated.
2) In-game grind and currency: Players trade Gold for Blue Crystals, same as when you are trading in-game gold for subscription time in WoW or EVE. I can't say anything about how it will fare in the west, but judging the Russian servers, it really depends on how you would grind this game. It can be MUCH easier compared to WoW/EVE, if you have leveled 4 alts, and do dailies with them. That way you will have so much gold and BC (Blue Crystals) that you won't know what to do with it. And trust me, in this game, you really need alts.
If you want to stick with 1 toon, you can again grind for that, won't be that hard, but a lot more time consuming. For instance mates of mine who didn't have alts, they spent like $5 a months to cover the extra amount they needed to have ALL those benefits going on.
Skins & Cosmetics There are two types of skins that you can buy either with RC or BC. But they all are pure cosmetics.
Functions Character (Re)Customization (~$8), Extra slots on the server (you have 6, you'd get 6 more) (~$8), and Name Change (~$15) require real money.
Services Instant Resurrection Feathers can be earned by playing the game, bought with Blue Crystals (or real money) Tickets to complete a daily task instantly (instead of actually doing it) - same deal.
Auction & Market You can buy Royal Crystals with real money, buy Blue Crystals with RC, then buy Pheon coins with BC, then use Pheon coins to bid on Auctions and trade with other players to get gear.
I am sorry if I am missing something. Besides some of cosmetics and functions, I haven't seen anything to be behind a paid-well. And I am sure that the western version will be BETTER than the Russian version.
You can spend real money on this game, to level faster, to do dailies faster, convenience, and to buy gear from OTHER players.
You can do dungeons and get gear, and sell it to other players and pay for your own stuff. You can do daily grinds to get enough currency to buy for your own stuff as well. People who spend monies, still need to rely on other players for getting better gear.
In my opinion, ALL of the above can be ignored. The one thing that does really make life easier is Pet Functions, and that can be paid via in-game activities without a real hassle.
Feel free to ask any questions.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Cheyane is a big fan of all sorts Asian games, if you had seen her posts for other Asian games I am sure no one would question that. More so than me actually, as in my posts I am usually notoriously sniffy about any style of game graphics and usually find something to complain about .

I played over level 50 on Russian server. The game really begins at level 50 . There are too many things to do . You will get overwhelmed. Yes , the game is a mix of isometric and 3d play .
This is not a console game
Too bad Amazon started to censor it, when talking about the models.
Have patience ..in EU or NA Lost Ark is only in closed beta ( for testing purpose).
Im not a fanboy ..I am 48 years old and played lots of mmos starting with Meridian 59. Currently play ESO ( since 2015) , and Lost Ark Russian and can't w8 for its EU launch.
Lost Ark is not perfect , but trust me , there are so many things to do and the content is huge .You will have always something to do, after you reach lvl 50 .
Lost Ark is mix between Diablo , Black Desert ( it has sailing too) , Bless and many other MMOS . ..but with more content. lt has some originality too.You must try to play it until lvl 50 and you will see.
Comments
Just add auto move and auto battle and it's your typical mobile f2p mmo.
And even though you can spent huge amounts of money you will need to level couple of alts( from 6 to be relevant to 10 to min max). Character slots are paid feature too btw.
And i don't know why some guys talk about POE and LE - nothing similar except for camera.
That a total non starter for me unless part of a monthly sub for all characters on my account.

Heroes of Arkesia,
In our Bringing Lost Ark to the West article we shared our high-level philosophy and vision for what players in NA and EU can expect in our version of Lost Ark.
I am an anime fan myself so as long as graphics are good that's fine, it is good to hear the control system issues can be overcome. For me the monetary scheme may be a showstopper but not going to bother looking at that until it launches.
"What I do have an issue with its the potential for paywalls and the multiple currencies and all the freaking chaos of playing the currency song and dance. Buy this one with this and that one with this one and the third with either of the others.

Thank you for your well-thought letter. Your wit and kindness always warms my blackened heart.
Okay I just realized what you meant. I don't know everything about this game, but I can explain a few stuff that might be useful to you.

1) Paying with real money:
You can buy Royal Crystals. Since right now you can't buy any, I can't know how much it is. But on the Russian server 5000 RC is about $60. Which gets you about 2000 Blue Crystals. So if you'd want to get all of the above you have to pay 660 Blue Crystals per month;
= ~ $20 per month.
If you buy the bigger package of RC, that price will be reduced to ~$16 per month.
But no one does that, because you are getting Blue Crystals by playing this game, so you'd never have to pay that much to have those buffs activated.
2) In-game grind and currency:
Players trade Gold for Blue Crystals, same as when you are trading in-game gold for subscription time in WoW or EVE.
Skins & Cosmetics
There are two types of skins that you can buy either with RC or BC. But they all are pure cosmetics.
Functions
Character (Re)Customization (~$8), Extra slots on the server (you have 6, you'd get 6 more) (~$8), and Name Change (~$15) require real money.
Services
Instant Resurrection Feathers can be earned by playing the game, bought with Blue Crystals (or real money)
Tickets to complete a daily task instantly (instead of actually doing it) - same deal.
Auction & Market
You can buy Royal Crystals with real money, buy Blue Crystals with RC, then buy Pheon coins with BC, then use Pheon coins to bid on Auctions and trade with other players to get gear.
