This is an honest question: Is there any PvP only MMO out right now that is actually succeeding?

Some moderate successes like Planetside perhaps, but mostly developers keep chasing the goal like a holy grail.

Class imbalance is and should be the least of their concerns.
Not if they plan to go small fights.

It's an odd situation, because this is a PvP game, so, they need to set up the PvP to be as engaging and enjoyable as possible.

So every thing they do, that makes the PvP less enjoyable, is a demerit on their progress.
It should go without saying that it is good to have reasonably balanced classes that are enjoyable and have synergies that make sense within the gameworld, but class balance or the lack of it has almost nothing to do with Crowfall's dismal post-launch situation.

Man.... i kind of feel bad for this game.

I remember years ago when this game first popped up in the media and i thought the whole voxel thing was a really neat idea.

    This isn't "freemium" - It's a 10-day trial.
Even their marketing team has no idea what they are doing. :/

    Listen to Who? To What?

When I played in Beta, I made the note that the classes were not balanced, this was years ago, I made this point. The DAoC lovers came prancing in and hollering and hooting that the game became balanced with more players getting involved in the open world PvP, so, the balance existed in massive population, not in individual classes being balanced.

When Crowfall launched these same people that waxed poetically and fondly of a bygone time, now wanted small fights where the imbalance among the classes would stand out like a sore thumb, and not massive zergs where thing would balance out due to larger populations.

So who are they going to listen to?

Because lets be real.. no one seems to really know what the fuck to do.

It's not hard to answer this yourself but you sound like you wanted to be dramatic about it. The players who are still logging in every day....the minority who like this guild vs guild dregs bullshit.....STOP listening to them and listen to the bulk of your player base who quit and told you why they quit, most of the reason which are pretty evident when everyone complains about the same thing. Pretty fucking simple

"Our game is focused on PvP action, not on the grind of leveling up"

Then why does it even have levels? What is the point? Do not say, "So people learn how to play their roles," because that is a stupid answer. You do not learn how to PvP as part of a team by soloing a million AI mobs.

Back in the days, when I pledged in this game it sounded awesome, but time after time it got clearer, that mass guilds will rule this and the longer the development took, the clearer was: there is absolutely no space for small guilds in this :(

We could probably toss Eve Online into this as well.
I thought of that but EVE actually has a lot of PVE activities, so much so many (most even?) play EVE for them rather than PVP.

And who's that? Who is this "The people that left"

And what did they complain about.

I have got to be honest, Who is still logging in?

I'm not, I mean, Hell the Zerg guild I joined in Crowfall in Beta, of damn near 500 very active people, all pretty much just moved to New World, and Crow fall is just a thing of the past to them these days.

So.. who is still the Dergs?

Who is this group that left, that has this Unified Great Idea that will save the game.

That's the thing though... They had half a decade to make pvp "enjoyable" but didn't have a back up plan in case the whole big zerg big guild system didn't appeal to the masses...

Honestly think that the only way to save the game is to sell it to a company like EG7 who has the resources to change certain parts of the game that no one at ACE or anywhere is currently thinking about. It could be changes that improves the way both new and old players experience the game that I'm sure is possible with a little thought and possibly not much of an investment. ACE seems depleted in both idea and resources categories similar to SOE at the end before Daybreak.
How would they save this game? I mean, "make it better" sounds like someone that plans to put a 5th wheel on a car and say "Look! it's better"

Crying shame that I had more fun in Beta than I did in live.

Same here. Last time I played in Beta was about 6 months before release. I liked the passive training. I liked the progression. I had a lot of fun in the Infected zones. It seems like a different game was released - A grindy game focused on large guild PVP.

Yup.  Beta NEVER had these zerg guilds.  Well, they existed but only a small slice of people would be on.  For most of beta if you had 15-20 people in your groups you were called a zerg.

Here is a good example of what were the rare "epic" large fights in Beta.  About 70 people total in a 3 way fight for a fort. And this was from earlier this year.

I'm not sure if this change today is bringing in many players or not, but I can tell you up to this change that the game has such an extremely low population before this that you barely see anyone when you play(8 to 10 players) in the course of several hours. Those numbers are far from what's needed for an MMO to survive. That's obviously the reason they dropped the price and gave a 10 day free trail, which honestly is a good move. Without this change the game has no chance at all. It's unfortunate that this is the state of the game. I really do hope somehow they manage to bounce back, it's not looking good though.

If you don't want to actually download the trail and play to see how the population is, you could always just watch a stream on Twitch to see it.
