Let's party like it is 1863!
There was a mention. Invasion were mentioned in the article:
"...PvE invasions that can downgrade a settlement"
Expeditions were the third "Pro" bullet point:
"Expeditions are excellent - more of these"
That said, I think it was probably worth a slightly higher grade as some of the stuff just appear to be "just released MMO" gripes that come up on every release. Not to say I would have scored it too much higher. Amazon seems like they have the personnel and resources to have avoided some of the issues.
It's fun (to me), but I get where people are coming from on bugs/exploits and their own fun factor.

I imagine they will do a follow up review next year, they certainly will feature new content as it comes out.
They designed an entire game, and its world around PvP and just turned off the PvP.
They have not actually addressed any of the gameplay issues that is dragging the game down, that has seen around 80% of the player stop playing.
There is no clear direction for this game. Is it a pvp game? Is it a survival game? Is a crafting game? Is it a loot grinder? If it's a loot grinder, wtf is the point in all the crafting?
It does nothing well, or with clear direction.
It is naive to think that this studio will fix something they NEVER DID PROPERLY FROM THE OUTSET! THINK about what that means!
If you ask me to paint you a picture and I do it wrong twice, and the only thing you think works is the color pallete, you wouldn't assume I could paint it properly....
No one should be assuming AGS can fix what they have yet to actually do properly.
The same guys in charge of doing it wrong, are still in charge, and nothing has been fixed post one month of launch.
I would say shame on you amazon but I know they have no reflection and thus will feel no shame.
As the game is now it is a life skill game. If you like life skill then you will enjoy the game. If you don't enjoy grinding out life skills you will get tired of the repetitive quest system pretty fast most likely. PvP for the most part has been a joke in the game, just death balls rolling around killing each other. No skill really, just broken systems that people abused.
Yea 6 is high a 4.5 imo and falling , NW is in an Alpha state still full of bugs, exploits missing and incomplete features.. lack of content , challenge and a cohesive game loop ..
It does have a solid foundation to eventually be a very good game but it isn't there yet.
The main problem in my opinion, and it's a very big problem, is that the integrity of the most basic and fundamental part of the game, territory control by factions, was undermined by all the ridiculously easy to do exploits that were used to win wars. The benefits of your company or faction owning and developing territories is too important in NW to just shrug off the exploits.
You can dissect all the individual bugs and imbalances but at the end of the day it's all about the integrity of competition and players obviously can't be trusted to not exploit what is exploitable. Competitive integrity has to be enforced by bug-free, tight code and if it isn't there the whole competition falls apart.

You can claim that if you just play casual none of this stuff has any effect on you but you would be 100% wrong and absolutely ignorant of what is happening. When a territory changes hands through exploits it has a resounding effect on the crafting/economy server wide. When people dupe a rare item in mass to the point where it drives the markets down into the dirt...it has an effect on everyone. People grind for hundreds of hours with the goal of maybe getting their first full voidbent armor suit and then see someone selling a stack of void ingots for dirt cheap in chat after a 24hr ban, it just makes you feel like you have wasted all your time and that no meaningful punishment of any kind is coming to these people. If you don't give a shit about your game then neither should I...
I cant see myself playing past a few more days, i didnt even want to log on yesterday.
I look at the game kind of like the lowest tier of Lexus cars, looks nice, but at the end of the day, just another toyota with makeup.
I generally dont really play MMO's much due to lack of innovation, i played this one becauase of a RL friend who wanted to play and it had name recognition from Amazon.
Id rate it a 6.5 and the 0.5 only because it is likely to improve due to amazon resources.
You can see my sci-fi/WW2 book recommendations.
Cheers

It feels like for all the veteran devs AGS hired they're still an infant studio with little experience in running a game or QA.
