I was very happy with the state of the game of the Closed Beta, Overall Story and Dungeons got better as you progressed imo. Bummed I have to wait for March tbh, but I think its ultimately to give them Time For New World tweaks, unfortunately.

I cringe any time a game delays too long. It gives them more time to try to cater to everyone in the world, instead of just releasing a finished game. In effect, we end up with games that are never truly "finished," because they will forever be trying to draw in the people who didn't enjoy it the first time around.
If it's not for localization or server concerns that they're ironing out, then they should release. Too much tweaking ends up diluting the original vision. This is why every game we get ends up eventually being the same rehashed crap over and over again, with varying degrees of polish.
I'm just waiting for a F2P overhyped sandbox WoW clone with full PVP, epic raid bosses, instanced group content, and Crysis-quality graphics to come out. That, or something fun.

Because it is P2W, the question is how many hours you need to grind on alts each day to keep up with whales progression.

As long as the Director was crying while announcing the delay, then yes. Apparently that makes it 1000% acceptable. At least according to fans of a certain other popular MMO.

If the delay is them honestly acknowledging "okay this isn't ready for prime time yet", and the time is spent actually fixing those issues so it's in proper shape upon full release, then it's perfectly acceptable and the right thing to do, IMO. The result will be a better game/experience.
If they just move on to the "well it just launched, and these are launch bugs..." line of excuses, then it's just them kicking the can down the road and, well... we've all seen that happen too many times, haven't we.

What are your issues? I've been playing for nearly 100 hours and got no issues with the controls, or anything else for that msttwe. The game is amazing and seems rock solid. Also runs flawlessly on my Ryzen/Radeon rig.
The only thing I've noticed are some translations and missing voice acting.
Action combat that simultaneously requires click to move and click to attack is a repetitive strain injury waiting to happen. Mice are ergonomically horrible, and that's some really intense mouse motion. I've tried playing with a controller, but thumbstick to move mouse pointer to move and same thumbstick to use mouse pointer to attack is even worse. As far as I'm concerned, that's but a small step away from "game won't run on my computer".
It's easily fixable. All that they developers would have to do is to add a WASD-style movement option. Then I could map that to use the D-pad to move, while still using a thumbstick to move the mouse pointer to aim attacks. I've played other games like that, and it's a little awkward, but not terrible.
The question is whether the developers wish to add control options to make their game accessible to a wider variety of players. The number of control options that their game has made hard coded in and unchangeable in the keybinds is not a positive sign on this.

You would have struggled ack in the old days then Ultima Online was a move and fight with mouse clicks and I lost thousands of hours in that game. Just because it doesnt suit your play style doesnt make it a bad game.
Yes, delaying the release to 2022 was the right decision. Closed beta was very good but still some kinks that need to be worked out......BUT if Amazon was going to push out one MMO release this year then it should have been Lost Ark. New World needs another a year...possibly more....and it was a mistake pushing the game out this year.

When I was younger, I could get away with heavier mouse usage for games. It also makes a difference that I now sit and use a computer all day for my job. When I was a student, my class work was much less computer intensive.
Ultimately, the only downside to adding a WASD-like movement option is the little bit of development time that it takes. It sounds like the bulk of the work to do that is already done, but only exposed if you're using an Xbox controller, and not for anything else. All that they'd have to do is add some keybind options to expose it, so it wouldn't even take much development time.
I think New World well emphasized the risks of launching too soon. I recall some people disagreeing with the one month delay right before launch who claimed the game was fine as is, which clearly wasn't the case.
Also makes no sense to release another competitor for people's money too closely.
I'm getting to old to play under baked MMOs. I'm getting too old to care when I have polished MMOs that have tones of content I can't keep up too. I will let lost ark launch and when the general population says its thumbs up. I will play, same with New World, if that happens.
New World release date was spot on, whether the game was in state of release or not. The thing with New World was that it came with "buy in". So it doesn't matter if player keep playing NW on second month or not, they already got your money. So as long as it sells on release date it has filled it's goal. If NW was release later sure the game would be more polished, but remember if NW was fully polished the game would be still mediocre at best, because dungeons and whole gameplay loop is still boring. So if they released it later on time when you have FF expansion coming out, Lost Ark being released and Sleeping Giant WoW waking up, they would never sold as much as they did now, even with polished NW.
It matters as their track record carries forward with them. These sales are already made, but future ones are not. They will want to leave a trail of success in their wake rather than one tarnished by blemish. Their future revenue potential means more to them than the burst of cash NW purchase provided.

Had kind of the same feeling for the first couple of hours. "What is the hype about, a generic waifu themed Diablo?". It got better. A LOT better. So good in fact I started playing on the Russian servers and have been loving it. The amount of content after reaching 50 is just ridiculous. And the side activities like housing (more like basing really) and sailing are games in their own right. If I understand it right there is also some kind of card battler ala Hearthstone in there somewhere as well.
It is super polished, stable, different and totally unlike something I have ever played before in my 30+ years of gaming.
