Fractured Online's recently announced publishing deal with Gamigo (and name change) was followed by a special Q&A stream this weekend on Gamigo's Twitch channel. In the stream, Dynamite CEO Jacopo Pietro Gallelli answered community questions and gave the Fractured Online target release window as well.

I have a feeling that I will regret kickstarting this game. I should have learned my lesson when I did the same with Shards Online.

"Both Dynamight and Gamigo will have a say but Dynamight’s creative control also extends to the types of monetization and financial models that will work in the game to not make it pay to win or try to cram in models that just don’t fit."

If this is true I hope they can pull a John Oliver and when Gamigo comes knocking to add MTX they can tell Buisness Daddy to go screw off but I doubt it
Don't underestimate how much game developers want their game to make money.  Most people want to be paid to do their jobs, and game developers are no different.

Sure, they'd like their game to be a huge hit that makes a lot of money even with a very generous business model.  But that usually doesn't happen, and given the choice between more aggressive monetization or killing the project and firing everyone, a whole lot will choose the former.  That doesn't make them evil.  Neither does providing that option as opposed to immediately killing the project and firing everyone make publishers evil.

But the game's developers aren't the only ones who would like to see the game make a ton of money with a generous business model.  Publishers would love to see that, too.  A huge hit that isn't exploitive would do wonders for Gamigo's reputation.  They've never yet managed to get their hands on the sort of quality game that could be a huge hit.  Instead, they've had to rely instead on foreign imports, mediocre games, and/or acquiring aging titles from buying other publishers.

2021 is about to end. So, aren’t we supposed to share our favourites and dislikes on this thread? For me, the best MMO this 2021 is World of Warcraft. No other MMO has had as large an influence on the genre and the broader gaming industry as World of Warcraft. Despite the fact that it is getting on in years, World of Warcraft continues to amaze. Shadowlands, its most recent expansion, harkens back to the glory days of World of Warcraft with a combination of ambitious new mechanics and one of the greatest endgames the MMO has ever had. Environment of Warcraft has something for everyone, whether you enjoy dungeons, raiding, player-versus-player warfare, or simply exploring a beautifully attractive world. There are other unique activities in Shadowlands, such as Torghast, a roguelike dungeon that varies every time you explore it. There are also entertaining events such as Timewalking, which allows you to revisit past expansion dungeons for great treasure, and World Quests, which let you to achieve something worthwhile even if you just have 20 minutes to play.

Didn't take long for the fractured devs to take my email and hand it over to Gamigo and subscribe me to their email spam. So unethical. I gave my email to play the game, and never agreed to sign up for Gamigo spam.

I lost all interest in this game now. With these practices you can expect it to be p2w trash.

Gamigo doesn't seem to be particularly spammy.  I actually did sign up for Aura Kingdom when it was owned by Aeria, which later got bought by Gamigo.  I've gotten two e-mails from Gamigo this year.  It's possible that some sort of spam blocker is blocking a lot more than that.  But it's the ones who send you a new e-mail every day that make me search for how to unsubscribe.

The problem is I was subscribed to their mailing list without consent. I tested fractured and did not agree for my email to be sold along with the game.

The e-mail probably has a line near the bottom in fine print that says, among other things, "click here to unsubscribe".  If you click to unsubscribe and they keep spamming you and you can't stop them, then I'd agree that there is a problem.  If not, then I really don't see what the big deal is about a single spam e-mail.

You know that little checkbox when you sign up for things that says you agree to join a mailing list? You know that's an option because of something called consent right? Was being subscribed to their mailing list the end of the world? No. But it's shady as hell, especially when I tested their game for free that they now sold.

I'm a drama llama for a game I was anticipating and spent my time playtesting being sold to  a p2w browser / mobile game company that stole my email? OK. I even said it's not the end of the world. Just a sign of things to come for this game.

I wasn't expecting this game to sell out to a browser game company before it's release. I'm just a llama I guess.
