I'm in the same boat, I've been so busy the last few years that I've started Valhalla, Amalur and Cyberpunk but haven't had the momentum to really get into them.

Can I suggest sticking with one game until you finish it or know you will not go back to it, then moving on to the next. A shocking idea in this Age Of Butterflies I know. ;)

That's normally my "mo" but with all of the games I listed there were things that weren't so great and given my amount of time I just couldn't get motivation to finish.

I still think they are better than not and as soon as I finish some "last minute things" I plan to dive into them one by one. I've been making my way slowwwl through Amalur but the mmorpg bits (quests) as well as mobs standing around the world rob it from its great story.

I feel like sometimes it's better to stop and come back to a game after a few updates.  Cyberpunk is definitely one I'll jump back into at some point.

AC Valhalla isn't an RPG, so im not sure why that is on the list. Good game though, although I haven't completed it either. I can only ever last 20-30 hours of action combat before i get bored and need a break, but Valhalla has a ton of content so its impossible to finish in that time.

I'm currently playing Kingdoms of Amalur and it is better than I expected. I couldn't even begin to tell you what the storyline is all about, the pacing is so bad on the quests that it is nearly impossible to tell what is going on. But, now that im level 20+, I finally have enough points to make the combat interesting by unlocking more skills. The crafting isn't too bad either, a bit simplistic but at least the gear is usually better than drops.

I had a lot of fun with ME Legendary not just for the improved graphics - which really shine in the original ME since that was the one that was really showing its age - but because of the inclusion of all DLC, most of which I had never bothered with, so I got to play a lot of content that was new to me.

Kingdoms of Amalur is one I have always liked and the new version improves it in many subtle ways. It's one of the most MMO themepark-like RPGs that I've ever played. It feels to me like you're soloing in an MMO... and Chakrams are just the best mage weapon ever.

I was one of the "lucky" ones who could always play Cyberpunk 2077 well with RTX on (PC of course) and I have played it through to the end multiple times. I haven't played it for a few months but I'm about ready to do it again... I always tell myself "this time I will not do an int/stealth build," but I always end up doing that anyway lol. It's better "magic" than the magic of most RPGs.

Thanks for introducing me to Cris Tales. I would love to try it someday for the visuals alone.

Well, doesn't it lean a bit toward being more role playing game than not? Even Assassin's creed Odyseey felt more RPG as there was progression.

Cris Tales is gorgeous. The gameplay is pretty basic though. Not a bad thing at all, the graphics however hint at something more that just isn’t there. Still fun to play through.

Edit. I recommend Encased. It is what Fallout would have become if it hadn’t moved away from its isometric perspective and all of the fun….

Tales of Arise was one of my resolution games, and I already cleared it. Not up to snuff with Abyss/Symphonia/Vesperia, but a reassuring step up after multiple mediocre entries.

Now onto Guardians of the Galaxy, Scarlet Nexus, and SMTV in that order.

The fact that this list omits Wyldermyth discredits the entirety of it ..

Either you developed Wyldermith, you are trying to bang the developer, or it is genuinely so good that you've found religion. Inquiring minds wish to know.

I think I will go for Kingdom Come: Deliverance this year. Sadly the ps5 patch isn't that much of an upgrade but it is still great.

That's one I want to give more time to.  The sword fighting system is worth learning, it's incredibly well done from a 1st person perspective.

I'm looking forward to playing Tales of Arise, but from what i've seen in gameplay videos I don't think Bandai can match Abyss/Symphonia/Vesperia/Xillia1/Xillia2 ever. I hope the story is good.

The gameplay is actually the best in franchise, by far. It's the story that is uh... let's say unfinished. It gets really sci fi, really fast, and with a lot of last minute text dumps.

I am so curious how you're going to rate Scarlet Nexus' story once you have finished that one then  :)

It's not the sci fi that's the problem, but rather that everything is so... abrupt and clearly rushed in the last 10 hours. The biggest problem is that the game essentially has no real antagonist to drive the plot. The recurring antagonist they have is essentially Zagi from Vesperia, and he's not carrying a story.

I checked out Scarlet Nexus on Game Pass and really liked it. I just didn't feel like starting a new action game like that as I have a few I'm still working through. But it really hit a few good spots at least early on.
It is a really good game actually, the story definitely 'goes places' though, it is wild, even for anime. It is one of my favorite games of last year. Two complaints is that it stretches just a little bit too long and combat might be tight and amazing but it doesn't really allow a lot of creativity. This contrary to A+ tier action games like Bayonetta and, well, Bayonetta 2. Still, Scarlet Nexus really struck a chord with me, it is very honest in its design and story and just damn fun to play.

Next will be SMTV, I kinda gave up on Tales of Arise and am enjoying FFXV Royal Edition way more then I should right now. I currently rate it higher then FFVIIR even.

I'm really a fan of Encased.  Played it heavily in Beta, so I have only set up a few starts, to decide which type of character to run with in a full playthrough.  Definitely see the Fallout1&2 aspect of it.  With a side of Stalker...
