I would laugh too b/c Crowfall is gank and wank fest garbo.
Again? It sure sounds like they're just trying to put band-aids on duping bugs as they show up. That's entirely the wrong way to do it.
There are some things where it's okay to write up code, test it a bit, see that it looks like it works, and then move on. A typo in a tooltip isn't that damaging if you have to fix later.
But for anything security-sensitive, "seems like it works" isn't remotely good enough. You have to very carefully analyze how things could go wrong. Some things really need to be more documentation than code, as you really need to leave behind a convincing explanation of why this will actually work and not cause race conditions, buffer overflows, other nasty but subtle behavior. Or in this case, duping bugs.
It sure looks like whoever designed the database for New World is either incompetent or (more likely) rushed through it without making the careful analysis that you have to make in order to avoid duping bugs. A typo in a tooltip isn't a big deal to fix later. Even a particular quest being broken is okay to patch later once you find it. But a single duping bug can wreck a game quickly, and New World has been flooded with them.

New world had 910,000 peak players. Crowfall had 3000.
Forget the same ballpark that's not even the same planet.
Crowfall wishes it had even 1 percent of what New World got.
Guys this is not a competition, we need a MMORPG landscape where MMOs of many stripes do well. Each one mixing up the depth and balance of PvP, crafting, raids, all the elements; so that we do not get one template that easily bores us all.

The problem with Crowfall is its core design. It just doesn't feel like a world, or even like a MMORPG. Comparing it with New World (or ESO, or WoW, or GW2, or (insert more here)) is just nonsensical because it's a totally different game. People not liking it won't change their minds.
This said, turning of the trading post is getting really old. Anyway, the changes planned for the January update suck donkey ass, so that last development doesn't change much.

Yeah it's hard to imagine why they think that raising the gear score cap or introducing "mythic" dungeons at this point in the game's life cycle is a good idea. It's like their one and only development thought is end game.
Hell, even adding the ability to roll alts on your own server would get them more retention, if that's their concern, than just propping up the end game with more grind.

New World doesn't even have 1% of it's LAUNCH WEEK numbers.
How is that number even relevant today when it gets fewer than 50k playing.
Nearly everyone quit playing NW and you're still posting its launch week numbers.
NW has been dying and Amazon shills are doing CPR to convince people they should play a game that's STILL BROKEN.
It's relevant because I was posting it comparing to Crowfalls launch week numbers.
If you want to talk about retention yes I agree New World sank like a rock. Crowfall would still love to have 50k. New World being a hot mess with an abysmal retention rate at 1% doesn't somehow make Crowfall any better.
What do you think Crowfalls retention rate is? I would have to guess since they got rid of the player numbers but if there are even 300 people left I would be surprised.
To be clear I think both of these games are dumpster fires but one obviously dwarfed the other with the number of players interested in buying it at one point.

I honestly haven't touched New World since Endwalker has been live (even with all the horrible queues at the expansion's first couple of weeks). That said, I really do want them to turn things around if possible because if they give up, I dont know how many will bother investing into the mmorpg scene otherwise, in terms of western development. There may be 1-2 known projects in the works, but more is always better imo.

And yet 50k is still so much more than 3k, isn't it?
