Ikcin in response to yours sincerely debating whether or not single-player offline MMOs exist...

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.

It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

It is just huge resource waste....'

I'm sorry you clicked on this must have been horrible seeing a video on a forum. Especially one where someone didn't elaborate. Oh noes. Quick complains!

I think in this case Yongyea expresses things quite well. Far better than any post. I have no problems with videos that can explain something and I have always liked Yongyea since he tore Bethesda a new hole .

He tends to go on. I think the video could have been a lot shorter, but whatever. He nailed it. Konami have always been pretty horrible.
True he does repeat stuff but I still enjoy his content. His criticism on the youtube dislike count removal was spot on.

I actually used to report such when the mods would remove them but isn't the case here anymore.

Many reddit subs have bots which either warn or remove video posts with no introductory commentary.

Quit being lazy, this isn't YouTube, use your words.

Heck, I got Bazgrim to post full text logs for all of his videos which I really appreciate.

My time is valuable, no time to waste watching streamers drone on and on and rare is the day I will do so.

I agree, I can go to you tube for videos, seeing a video without at least some sort of summary is very irritating. But I stand by the sentiment Nilden was getting across as I think you do.

Well the thing is, since I didn't watch the video I'm not really sure what his point is other than NFTs are bad, m'kay.

The mere selling of NFTs isn't really that objectional to me, like most other non functional items in a cash shop I will probably just ignore them.

However these new "games" which appear to exist primarily for the purpose of buying, selling and trading NFTs, with actual game play being secondary, that idea can DIAF.

So in the OPs example which is it?  Simple art assets for sale for those interested, or woven into the core gameplay or perhaps part of a new Castlevania title which is more NFT shop.

Oh right, watch the video.... naw, I'll pass and just up my post count some more. :)

    Cheers.

I mean, the subject of the thread, as well as the thumbnail of the video, pretty much tell you what to expect. It's as good a summary as someone typing the same thing out for you. If you wanted to, you could then dive in further and watch the video. Seems reasonable.

Without watching the video, here's what I got if it helps: Konami is issuing Castlvania NFTs to get some of that 35th anniversary nostalgia money and, at face value, does not seem to have been received well.

I imagine as I didn't watch the video myself it is just an art asset, their games don't even have block chain yet as far as I know. But as we know today's item in a cash shop is tomorrows loot box. The progression to selling and trading NFT's in games is almost inevitable.

So if there's any doubt why Konami decided to "disrespect" the Castlevania IP,

One item went for over $20K, total sale netted over $125K. (118K GBP)

And this surprises you?  Konami has long been heavily into gambling, so of course they're going to get into stuff like this.  And I don't just mean figuratively in the loot box sense.  They're a major vendor of literal slot machines like you might find in a Vegas casino.  For example:

It's annoying because it's Konami. Don't get me wrong, I love the Metal Gear, Suikoden, and Castlevania franchises but they've been neglecting their IPs and just making pachinko slot games out of them. So by the time they join the NFT bandwagon with this, they just alienate themselves further from their fans who are looking for at least remakes of their beloved games.

Pachinko and NFT, and nothing about new games. Sigh.

These NFTs are entirely unrelated to games or game play so far as I can tell. If so, from a gaming perspective they are irrelevant.
