The game is just a laggy, bugged gankfest, which is lacking most of the promised content  even though it's supposedly out of early access. And it's barely even playable for NA players, since the only server is in UK and the ping is just awful. Don't even try playing if you are in Asia or Australia...

    Nothing to see here.
Do yourself a favor, don't buy this.
And do everyone a favor, don't give money to that company, which is also charging a monthly fee for this pile of crap.

I am not getting much information even from the people who support the game.  I am just curious about how the game is playing. Can you give examples of the encounters and how the game plays and exactly why one would play this over other games of this type.

Well, I will just list the combat as example.
Even when you don't have lag, it's very slow. It's action combat in its worse implementation ever. You have to wind up every hit, and it's not smooth at all, so you often have to rely more on sound than on what's on your monitor to know if you've scored a hit or not.
Ranged (bow) is very favored too, because it's less prone to the problems of melee, there's a complete imbalance there.

And if you expect territory control and sieges, the promised features... don't hold your breath, they aren't there.

That's my experience from just before the release, keep in mind that now with the influx of players the situation of lag is even worse according to the comments I get from US players. I didn't buy this game, of course, even less since I had the 'luck' to try their beta, probably because my email was in some old MO1 file or something.

It's just a terrible game in my opinion, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, not even hardcore PvP players since if they are anywhere else than in Europe, they have no chance to be competitive against those who have a much better ping than they do.

1st person mmorpg combat is just horrible, no thank you.

When I was playing Mordau, its community was dreaming of a MMO with a similar combat system...
For some odd reason I read that as Mordheim and tried to understand why you would write that. Then I checked again ahh Mordhau.
Mordheim was brutal. I was close to tears when I lost a third of my squad. The injuries are permanent.

It's kinda foolish they have done the same again as with MO1.
Back then, there were a lot of refunds needed due to the not launching as advertised.

Well, I might try it in a year or so, that's probably the time they need to implement the basic gameplay that the game should have launched with.
Also, might be B2P/F2P by then.
I disagree partly.  They've said that there were going to be missing systems to start.  So they aren't advertising a complete game at launch.
Can you show me where on the main page or roadmap they advertise there are going to be missing systems to start?

Would you even know if it wasn't asked of them in Streams and then posted externally?

Here is the Roadmap.  Looks to me like they show the Road ending at launch with not only no further Road, but bonus stuff at launch.

MO2 is going well. The Corporate question is one to get passed but not impossible in general. When does one decide to sit down and play to have fun? I mean as a Fan of MMORPG's MO2 is a great game to invest time and indulge in new discoveries. Plenty of time to organizes strategy however much of a spell your commentators hold over as influence. You see the review was fair, targeting a Business and or MMORPG Fan "IS NOT" cool kid. I think its best left with the first and Give MO2 its great review as its HONEST.

I suggest to the writer and players that want a better experience for solo... go to the official forums>> guild and politics section.  Start in a city/region controlled by large guild alliances of Anti-RPK.  Join them even, but at a minimum you can solo a lot more safely in those areas (unless you commit RPK yourself  :D ).

Also, you can get to know the guild names in order to report RPKrs in their region (they will mercilessly hunt them down... it's actually fun content for them B) ).

I created a thread on the official forums to help for noob friendlier starting cities( if you want to follow):

    https://www.mortalonline2.com/forums/threads/what-cities-regions-have-large-anti-rpk-guilds-alliances.4608/#post-49508

    Highlighted early intel responses:

●Big Anti-RPK guilds you can contact:  "[HoJ] Harbingers of Judgement or [WARD] Wardens (lead by @Piet )"

●Decent starter area so far: "Bakti is pretty new player friendly, but it's so overcrowded, it's like cockroaches. Haven't seen any pvp yet, though. I assume once people spec, they will start."

●Harsh PvP starting areas(potentially):"You will generally find some form of an ARPK guild in most towns except Kran and GK (could be wrong now)"

I bit the bullet, downloading MO2 to give everyone my take.  Will probably be 9 hours till I can fully download and get in.

FYI It is $4 off the box in steam till February 1... (35.99 vs 39.99)

This didn't read like a review to me.  More of a summary with a few thoughts thrown in.  I would like a bit more analysis in the next review.  On the flip side, I could be off the mark

I have just JuST started playing, so can't really review.  I will say that I'll be at the zombies for a bit to get used to combat.
Thanks, now I know where to send the hunting parties.

I believe it is already important for the empires to defend the area they are planning to take as soon as territory is in.

It will be important to have the player base having their home in their territory, but if you do not defend them yet they will go somewhere else.

There is always the alternative to go some areas which are no hotspots and avoid areas like Fabernum or Meduli.

To their credit, I've read they are postponing the monthly fee until they have fixed the many issues the game has right now. That's a nice gesture... even though I still think this game doesn't deserve a monthly subscription at all.

What monetization model should they be using?  NFTs and Cryptocurrency?

When I was playing Mordau, its community was dreaming of a MMO with a similar combat system...
The reason it hasn't already happened has a shit ton to do with how much bandwidth would be needed to track hundreds of players directional swinging, partying, reposting, shooting, etc. with appropriate contact physics.

When it's tried in a way that allows for hundreds simultaneously, it inevitably feels slow/hollow/off compared to tighter systems like Mordhau's and Chivalry's.
