I've been enjoying the launch. One thing is that Haven which is the new player islands have been better now since some hours since. Its actually one of the smoother launches. There are some hiccups in which i've experienced but its not to the point of the whole server being literally down.

You also have to understand that company isn't WOW and wow had so many issues with each expansion.

Could be a cool game, what a shame the community is going to consist of the worst sorts of PvP players who will ruin the game for themselves eventually, just as all PvP games do. Big alliances, guilds that consume all the fun. Then sit around and wonder why no one is playing the game, and it's dying. Let them play their niche title by themselves.

I'm not going to pay for a game just to let some privileged group of toxic morons dominate the game world and have to put up with it or join them.

Could be a great game if the Devs actually fixed issues they were told about in beta.

I've been having a chill time learning the game and testing out different weapons in Haven peacefully, I'm glad I decided to jump in so far, will be interested to see where things are at in a few weeks.
I'm in Haven too, just put an hour or so..

In Haven, running really great on max settings (we'll see about the real zones).

As interesting as the game looks, pure pvp games like this only lead to the most toxic and childish communities.

I did play MO 1 when it first came out. The idea of the game was pretty good and I have to say I admire their will to success in the MMORPG field of gaming. If I remember correctly they vere at that time some very young dudes trying to make their dream hapen. Have to salut them never stop to try, maybe thei will make it one day. The biggest problem of the game was the ful loot system. On other hand thx to it, I still remember the fear and thrill from feeling I will be caught somewhere in the wilderness by some PKs. But after some time, it was really just about you spending hours by farming and then loose it in 5 minutes all, which most players dont like. So the game slowly died and was played only by few ppl. I remember I was always thinking why they dont do for example the main roads watch by NPC guards or something like that to keep ppl playing.. In my opinion majority of players who will wana play this kind of game are PvE. So if you wana have game liek this successful, you have to somehow work with that, IMHO. Well I am not sure I will go check the game, but seeing them how they still work on it I wis them luck and success!

I bought the game at Launch and it was fairly smooth, especially Haven, the starter zone. As I stated in another thread, this game is going to fall based on the emptiness of the world. The endless running into nothingness is something I don't understand the decision behind. The biggest city is just soooo empty. The sewers dungeon is soooo big and also...empty.

Make the world more living and perhaps it might survive. But people will leave when they notice that they have been running for 30 minutes doing nothing. IMPORTANT! If you are buying into the game, stay in the starter area until they have fixed the queue issue. You won't get into the main area at all.

Haven is the instanced starter area?

I fail to see where privlage somehow has anything to do with hard core pvp, but okie dokie I guess.

I love PvP in my virtual world. I love the thought of having gankers/criminals.

Make a justice system and a law enforcement system. Could make for some fun game mechanics.

That's always the downfall... games generally have a pretty weak penalty for being a murder-hobo.  Even restrictions like "You are red and can't shop in town" are usually easy to skirt via an alt or a friend.

Permadeath... thats where its ultimately at :)
Go red... and you lose lives.  Eventually you are gone.

I like PvP that has a meaning. So put the best resources in a PvP zone. Attack a fort and a PvP zone circle appears around it. Or attack a port, and ships in and out are subject to PvP.

But also have areas with no PvP. Let the player decide.

If you're so segregated from one another that you have no impact on each other whatsoever, are you in a 'community'?
Interesting take on things.  Is the player base really that far apart? Any time I watched streams of its beta, I usually saw other players around. The game does look fun to be honest. I just worry about dealing with asshats as I have in every other pvp focused game.

This is where real death penalties can shine even without going so far as permadeath. Way back in Lineage 1 a death could cost weeks of leveling XP, de-leveling, along with all item drops. Blue "lawful" characters have a very small chance to drop a few items. Red "chaotic" characters could drop pretty much their entire inventory, and if recall, possibly even non-core spells/skills.

The special rule-set server "Lands of Aden" even had a Hell that after X number of kills while fully chaotic would send you to that realm where elite and boss mobs would work you over and over. Not only were you likely to drop everything on your character, but most people lost so much XP through death penalties that they de-leveled several times. That's months of leveling setback. So Reds that were close to the limit and headed to Hell would wear trash gear to be safe which also made them much easier to kill.

It wasn't a perfect system, but it added a lot of nuance to what would otherwise be a pointless rampant gankfest. PvP still happened constantly because there were plenty of reasons for it, but it wasn't murder-hobo central like many modern PvP MMOs feel now.
This is what's missing from most open world PvP games.

In real life, harming another very often results in harsh negative consequences.  That has to be recreated in a virtual world to avoid it becoming a mindless killbox.  If you scare off griefers and wanton PvP wanes, so what?  You should be including objectives and systems that encourage players to engage in competition without encouraging kill on sight nonsense.
