Funcom has found a second partner to develop its upcoming Dune open world survival game. Dutch studio Abstraction has joined for technical and gameplay work.

    Dune was one of the grand daddy of RTS even before warcraft, but now.... survival multiplayer?

    This article links to a RTS game that is likely to be a lot better than this survival game. The survival game just feels like a cash grab and a waste of an IP that would be much better as a MMO.

    I can just imagine all the forum flame wars when they allow you to make male Bene Gesserit :)

    I think the conan rts was released about a year after exiles, so I assume they are trying to follow the same strategy since funcom was involved in both? I'm not sure how that rts turned out but maybe that's something to gauge these by.

    You are forgetting worm mounts, worm. mounts. Unless we go with Torvals crossover and get the mount goats from Moria. Which would be glorious of course.

    'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless. 

    It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

    It is just huge resource waste....'

    You will earn the Solari from in-game activities and but you must buy Spice from the cash-shop.

    I was in the alpha/beta. Couldn't even figure out what to do in the starting room. While I loved the concept of the game, the first room never showed anything that connected me to Startgate.

    i like funcom but their games are always buggy messes. They need better programmers and QA people imo.
