Heavily disagree with it being a boring levelling grind. If you're a first time player like I was this game was amazing to level, the cutscenes were fantastic and the story engaged the player like nothing I've played before on a power fantasy level. The castle attack will hands down be one of the best times I've ever had playing an MMO and I've played dozens of them. Diablo doesn't hold a candle to this in terms of design, story and mechanics.

The average player does not plow through to level 50 in 25 minutes, well at least not if they are smart.

I have always wished for an MMO that is exactly like this but LostArk doesn’t quite scratch that itch for me. A lot of its elements are executed in a way that I wish would’ve been done differently. I see the complaints for gendered classes, but personally I don’t mind as I’m really not spending too much time on the character customization anyway. It feels like it’s fully designed to be PvE and here I was hoping it could have a compelling PvP besides who deals better damage.

Sounds like he was was a KR/RU player who had a very solid plan. I took a fast approach and it still took me a few days to get to 50.
The challenge indeed comes at Endgame. Guardian Raids and Abyssal Dungeons provide that challenge.
Chaos Dungeons are just your run-of-the-mill mob blender instance, just kill everything.
The Cube is your pseudo game-show instance, run around rooms, get buffs and debuffs and complete the run.
The tower, single-player "Challenge" mode, which doesn't get challenging until like the 30/40-50 floors.
There is a lot to do in LA. I've been running content every day clocking in 195 hours already.

If you're saying you can get from lvl25 to lvl50 in 25mins in Lost Ark then you're wrong. The quickest someone got to 50 was two days on the first run due to unskippable cutscenes and areas. Who was the youtuber so I can call out his shit?

Yeah I think the video was edited, sort of the highlights of the whole leveling experience. Otherwise it is impossible. World Record sits at a bit over 9 hours. And that's not on a fresh account, meaning it can skip cutscenes and is benefiting from Roster's stat boosts.

Clearly I'm super slow, so I was at around 95 hours played when I reached level 50 but still took a few more hours to clear Vern after that.
Not done with overland content yet I don't think, some loose ends to chase, skills to obtain, and get my gear up to snuff for dungeon level content. (Only about 268 in gear score ATM.)
I've been taking my time, sure I'll rush the next character a bit more but probably hold off on using Powerpasses for now.

Of course. That's the way I prefer it too. Your Powerpass not only boosts you to level 50 but also grants you 305 item level and your extra abilities and Vern stuff unlocked as well. So you can actually start doing dungeons on an alt right now.
I leveled a Deadeye, but been raiding with my boosted Gunlancer ever since. Alongside Bard it is the best class to PvE.

I've played every day since the official launch, didn't pay for early access. I've had bad luck honing and considered bailing a few times due to knowing I need to redo the same content upon logging in. But once I'm in it's mostly fun.
I'm not a big fan of the itemization and upgrading system but it's pretty rewarding. I've finally gotten two alts but they can't help me get T2 mats unfortunately. The game can 100% feel like a job if you aren't careful. Once I run out of island stuff the world will feel a lot smaller, especially since you can redo them for rewards on alts.
While I'm glad I didn't research the game too much, it definitely set me behind the pack. I'm at ilvl 950 but probably should be at least 1100 by now.

If you were at 1100 now, what would that really mean? Any actual benefits or are you mostly just chasing a number?
If it's the latter I would agree makes little sense to put so much effort and angst into the progression curve.
Hit level 302 tonight, have guild members already talking about gearing me up, running dungeons etc but I'm really wondering why or what their hurry is.

Yeah it's just a number, although it's the primary form of progress as it unlocks higher content with better rewards. Getting so many failures just to hit 600 was really demotivating and it only gets worse at the end of T2 and probably most of T3.
Slowly gearing and playing alts is actually more fun but it takes a some time to research their best engravings and skill and runes. And I'm sure for some it will make the game feel even more grindy. (That's where P2W comes in.)
As far as what you should do, do whatever you want. You can gear up without help for quite a while. Chaos dungeons are fine to solo and I would at least try one out as you get good rewards for doing one twice a day.
Yep, do the highest possible chaos dungeon twice a day, to get all those gear honing materials. You can also trade some materials for others which are more rare, there's a NPC near the chaos dungeon entrance in the cities, but there's a limit per week.
Respect, walk, what did you say? Respect, walk Are you talkin' to me? Are you talkin' to me? - PANTERA at HELLFEST 2023
I am really hoping they release the summoner soon. Meanwhile I wanted to ask since I intend to play again took a break waiting for the queue on my server to ease but it was still 6k + yesterday so finally bit the bullet and waited and deleted all the characters I made to save some names and recreated them on a Europe West server with no queue at all.
How hard is the Bard for a bad player like me? I can manage the Gunlancer well enough but anything else is way too difficult for me because it involves too much dodging and running about and aiming. I am so hopeless at these games it is such a terrible joke. Watching me play is almost painful.
I have played Path of Exile so it is not like I am totally clueless but just that my movements are a tad slow. I can play the gunlancer because I can practically stand there and kill the boss and the dodge is a jump backwards that never gets me out of the red area in any case and many times actually clicking away is way better. Have that wonderful shield too that absorbs damage.
I'm still hanging in with LA. I'm approaching 30th level (okay, sneaking towards the vicinity of 30th). I don't consider it too bad for about an hour playing a day. A couple of observations.
I've already created an alt, mostly to claim the name. He's 10th level, and I haven't even had him in the 'main world', just the prologue. I don't know the purpose of starting the game at 10th level, I'm hoping there actually was purpose behind that decision.
The choices for sounds effects are a bit peculiar. My sharpshooter's bow sounds like a gun firing, and some of the arrows sound like machine guns. But the oddest effect is fishing. Every time you pull in a fish, it sounds like an explosion. Suitably violent, I guess.
Back to names, entirely too many possible names are already reserved. I'm not sure if the game uses a universal name server to provide uniqueness across all servers, but the first five names I tried gave me the 'Name already taken' error. So, if you see a Mendel, you can be sure it's not me. Accept no imitations.
I'm still having some fun, but it's getting to be a grind. There are so many potions and crates of handouts that it boggles the mind. I guess it shows imagination that someone came up with all those things, but the could have spent a bit more time actually putting useful descriptions on them.
I guess I shouldn't complain. There is at least enough storage space to hold them all. So far.
Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.
I don't know the purpose of starting the game at 10th level, I'm hoping there actually was purpose behind that decision.
Levels 1-10 were there in the open betas/trials and as far as I know they are there in other regions.
It was just a confusing and not particularly fun prologue/tutorial that didn't really add anything. I thought cutting that portion out was a good move since the new player experience is much better now and gets you into the meat of the story much better.

- Back to names, entirely too many possible names are already reserved.
I guess it shows imagination that someone came up with all those things, but the could have spent a bit more time actually putting useful descriptions on them.Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.
It was just a confusing and not particularly fun prologue/tutorial that didn't really add anything. I thought cutting that portion out was a good move since the new player experience is much better now and gets you into the meat of the story much better.
