The "Lord", fucked up all the development of the game. The release was PATHETIC ( I was there ), with many bugs and not working features. It was a mess. After almost 1 year from release, he goes to space to "market" the game?! What game? He didn't even tried to fix it or was unable. That's how bad of a developer he is ( see his last "game" where he literally sold his blood and hair for money to ..support the game ).
NcSoft is guilty for believing in him and not kicking his ass sooner. He's a scammer. Period.
Other then that, the only "emulated" version I want from all this list is Wildstar. Vanguard was a big empty world with little to do. Yes yes, it had "potential" . If I write a game probably many will say that it has potential. Matrix Resurrections also had potential.......
Matrix Online was this "pretty good" MMO but badly "injured" from the very ones who created it. Tried too hard to be something different ..but failed.
I didn't play Marvel Heroes, so .. yea! Here goes my rant!
It gets worse. First good old Lord British threw a giant monkey wrench into Tabula Rasa's development by deciding to change the game to science fiction rather than fantasy after a couple of years of actual work had been put into it. They never really recovered from that setback so its of little surprise the game was birthed stillborn.
Dark Sun Online. Just so I at least get the chance to try it this time round. And also because the Dark Sun universe is one of the most interesting fantasy settings out there.

About 50% viewers found it terrible, some thought it was ok, a small portion thought it was great.
This movie retcon'd a lot of key lore from the first 4 films... I found it to be a massive disappointment as a Matrix fan.
I will pretend this movie doesn't exist in the canon, and only with that mindset would like to try Matrix Online.
I think if there was a Marvel Heroes emulator it would go the route City of Heroes emulator did before it was leaked to the mmo sites. It would be extremely underground because if Disney got word they would agressivly seek legal action and take their children.
I would love to play Tabula Rasa again and Asheron's Call 1/2.
Sadly it would never reach the light of day unless some kind soul released the source code anonymously across the internet. Then maybe fans could host a server in a country out of reach of Disney.
I do wonder if the server could stay open if people didn't use the actual code but emulated a server from scratch with knowledge of how they run and the packet formation and encryption. I do wonder if SWG survives partly due to them not using actual proprietary server code. (I may be wrong about that)
I've given up hope of ever seeing it emulated on a public server. It's also the only closed MMO that I'd help develop emulation for.
For a mod, I would like gw2 with a completely remade role based combat system, obviously a complete class redesign to accompagny that, removal of all story driven content and replaced by open ended, no shop or gear for points systems ; replaced by world drops and crafting ... Well basically the world, assets but a major change in game design.
Tabula Rasa, the game I miss the most. They even had the Earth Expansion nearly complete when they shut down. This is a game I think, for the sake of fans, NCSoft and Lord British should make a deal and let it come back officially.

But I'd settle for an emulator
I think NCSoft had an altar where they desperately prayed for him to die when he went to space and became atheist soon after he returned. Doubt they can kiss and makeup.
I never got the opportunity to play Wildstar. I was exited about trying it out...but I forgot about it due to RL issues. As far as Matrix is was concerned I never heard any thing good about it. I loved Star Wars Galaxies esp because of the space layer and I only got to play SWG for a very short time in 09 so by that time no one was doing any space layer stuff. I would play SWG emulated if I knew that I could fly jump to light speed. And I would love to play wildstar to try it out. But non of the others am I interested in.

I find it strange another company hasn't bought Wildstar from NCsoft. I would think it's a nice turnkey operation that could make them some pretty easy money.
I would play Vanguard again for its detailed crafting and refreshing diplomacy systems, as well as Tabula Rasa. Despite the abysmal launch, I had a lot of fun with the invasion system. I could never get deep into Wildstar. Liked the idea, but the execution felt off.
Wildstar was so much fun, but the company management was a disaster, which resulted in lack of new content.
It did not deserve that faith, this is what happens when U have a A tier dev team and F tier Higher Management, it's so frustrating, especially when this game had the best housing system in all MMOs back then.
I do miss Tabula Rasa but I don't remember it very well. I remember having quite a bit of fun on it but that was also a very long time ago.
Vanguard would be the most likely choice for me for like a 1-1 emulation, I wish that existed as I didn't get into the game until really close to when it shut down.
Wildstar does not need an emulator, the devs had no idea how to keep population in that game at all, and I feel like it died every single time they tried to release it. Even after a huge surge of population from the steam launch it still fell off like a month later. It sucks because I really liked Wildstar but it just could not hold a playerbase at all.
Agree with Wildstar, they spent so much time on revamping stuff over and over, which resulted on lack of good new content to keep players engaged
I liked Wildstar a lot I hated the combat though. It was terrible as a healer trying to aim and heal and avoid the shit tonne of moving red designs all around me.

Yes, I think their "telegraphic" combat was what ruined their chances of success. They should've made a hybrid with tab-targeting abilities. And not ALL abilities needed a telegraph on the ground. I mean I am hitting the bad guy in front of me. And the whole game you had keep staring the ground as if you are looking for your keys or something.

It should be mandated that if you close down servers, you are required to 'open source' the game that ran on them.
Imagine being told (and legally enforced) you can't drive your car anymore because the dealer you bought it from is no more. A lawsuit wouldn't even need the lawyers for the Judge to rule in your favor.

My problem with Vanguard is it always ran poorly....It just was not well optomized at all...THe diplomacy system was a novel idea but I never found any use for it whatsoever.....
have not played in a few years but it seems to still be around.
Played Tabula Rasa was much more a mess than ( the OP ) described. The game that Garriott delivered was basically redone by NC Soft since what he delivered was unplayable.
I think the reason it was scrapped was also due to them fighting over how much he was entitled to get from the game that he screwed up and they fixed. Most likely was cheaper to close it down than deal with a freak that would do anything to get into space.
Still enjoyed what was done and played way back then. Liked Auto assault as well, and it was also shutdown by NC Soft...no idea why that was closed, guess they were not making enough or something.
Wish we could have a place like game pass that had an old graveyard of old MMO's that you could go to and play. Some service that you could use like X-Box game pass for MMO's. One sub to play any of the old games. Wonder how much those old MMO's really cost to have a server open running maintenance mode with no development costs. Oh well wishful thinking, but would be fun.

It would if you rented the car. In MMORPG we are renting the game according to the way the EULA is written.
