  Here is the bottomline... these corporations and other organizations can just give donations directly from their profits (tax deductible for them).
  
  Instead, they are trying to sell new accounts or retain customers via virtue signaling.
  
  I'm not a current EVE online player, so if I showed them a statement of donations via Red Cross (or pick your charity)... would they match it?  Nope.
  
  This is marketing 201 what they are doing.  Generating more revenue under the guise of matched donations.
  
  But kudos for all donations.  
  
  I'd advise you donate through an audited charity. 15% or less towards admin, 85% or more directly to the cause.  In the US, charities have to disclose that information via reporting.  Not sure about the EU.
