Azeroth Cyborg Gamepad - Secret to my Success

TwistedSister77TwistedSister77 Member EpicPosts: 1,144
edited March 2022 in The Pub at MMORPG.COM
Alright, since only loyalist MMORPG.com vistors will ever read this.  I've been using PC gamepads for over 14 years.  I use them in all genres (MMORPGS, FPS, etc).

The key benefit - your thumb controls all WASD movements without dedicating 3 fingers like in a keyboard setup.  Also, all key binds are within comfortable striking distance (and you can custom bind them with macros).

So, I heard about this and have been using it for about 3 months (I was on a 4 month waiting list):

I can toggle on and off 360xbox/anolog control movement on the thumbstick for virtually any PC game... or put it on WASD thumbstick mode.  360 degree movement is so much better than 8 movements you get with WASD (the extra 4 are diagonals by holding down 2 keys at once).  Other gamepads only have WASD thumbstick support, my last one a Razor.  29 buttons fully customizable and w/ macros.

I'm enjoying it, and reaction times are a lot better.  Comfort is perfect, you adjust everything to your specific hand and you can fully adjust the sensitivities of the stick & button presses.

I pair it with a Logitech G502 11 button mouse (fully programmable & macros).

I never have to touch the keyboard unless I'm typing in chat. :D

Let me give an example, I'm playing Halo Infinite Multi-player (or campaign)... the game thinks I have Xbox joystick thumbstick for movement, but I also get the edge with mouse aiming.

I showed it to my mechanical keyboard snob nephews... I got a big WTF!  B)

I'm a big fan of gamepads over keyboards.  Especially in MMORPGs when you have about 20+ skills and hotkeys.  With other gamepads, I was still awkwardly stretching for certain keys(still much better than a keyboard), not with this.

PS - ONLY buy directly from them, you customize it yourself on their website (colors, extra large for bigger hands, etc).   And no,  I have zero financial ties to this product.

I have a very similar set up, but I use Razer Tartarus and Naga

That thing looks badass, will check it out.

I find the thumbstick confusing.  The main reason for me not using a controller is the thumbstick.  How sensitive is it?

Yeah, I started out on a Logitech G13... my last one was also a Razer Tartarus. Great minds :)

It comes with their software that allows you to adjust how sensitive the movement on the thumbstick (and all the buttons) are... from very loose to very tight sensitivity.  There is also a clicky thumbstick (not the smooth Xbox rotating one) right next to it, that will support WASD.

Their software also manages all your game profiles for key binds and macros.

FYI - I try to keep my gamepad keybinds very similar in genres and rebind in game instead... so I have muscle memory. Sometimes, a certain game will not allow a specific key to be re-binded... in that instance, I copy my default genre profile and tweak it minimaly (rebind the Azeroth buttons, not the settings in the game) and save it for that specific game.

This looks to be far beyond my dexterity level.

Looks amazing, but if I can use that then I should be in the secret US Mechwarrior program.

I saw that recently off a reddit link. Looks amazing and is very well crafted by all reports I've seen.

Only thing holding me back is that I'm so used to a keyboard tray (I have one that fits my KB and mouse both) that lets me sit back comfortably from the desk and this is too tall to live in that tray.

It's just my kind of gadget though so I'm thinking of making a custom tray just for this. Still just in the thinking stages but It definitely has my attention.

If you do a lot of photo and video editing, it dramatically speeds up workflow( you bind all the hotkeys and shortcuts to it that you use, and you can put in macros of common multi-actions you might perform).  You'll only need the keyboard for writing text overlays.

Try to swing it with your boss ;)

Oh no, my company doesn't permit custom desktop configurations, we've recently migrated to a stupid hoteling seating solution, which has destroyed any hope of improving collaboration as people schedule desks all over the floor.

It took me like 3 weeks to get used to using my 19 button mouse. I wonder whether I can adapt to this set up. It does look very interesting and it might help with my carpal and other problems.

The game pad is great, while I don't use the joystick more movement, I have those buttons aligned to other abilities, IE: In DDO, they scroll the hotbar, in GW2, they were for the Camera, not movement, etc. So you can set them up to do what you want.

But no joke, your hand just rests right into them, and they are so much more responsive and comfortable than a normal keyboard.

I can't go back to a normal keyboard now that I have been using the Keypad, with the Naga, it has been the best purchase I have made.

Too bad that Slapshot is most likely full of shit, as he claimed to be the head of logistics for a transport company, and how he was building buildings as in the dirt.

Pitiful to the last with him.

    This is a genuine question, I mean it as neutrally as possible;
How are you not banned for flaming people? This gotta be against the rules of conduct.

It's been running for a while and it's part of this site's schtick. It helps if you read him in Newman's voice and Slapshot as Jerry.

As long as no one reports it, no one cares. I find it entertaining myself.
About 4 years-ish now, when I came here and Slap accused me of being someone else, and when he was wrong, he has been continually trying to avenge his butthurt, because he can't handle the idea that he was wrong about something.

That's pretty much why I have him on Ignore now, 4 years of his shit, was long enough, and my life has been better, but seeing that quote, and I was, is this guy really that full of it.

So I had to call out his lies.

This isn't meant as a direct criticism of your post, just grabbing the entire sub-thread as an example.

I think it's a big reason why we're really losing participating members. It's boring and most of our cyclic back and forth bores people. For my part I'd much rather see people remain on topic and provide relevant, insightful, and interesting comments about the OP. That's just me though and I'm fatally out of touch, so what do I know.
Oh I agree that on topic relevant discussions are best but the meta-forum stuff does have its light entertainment value also.

If everyone was always on topic I think the site would feel colder and impersonal, but that also is just me :)

If he gets bad there is an easy ignore function.  Much better way of dealing with it than banning. I really mean that. Every person that is eliminated diminishes the community here.

Yah, I was a part of his for a few years, hell, I might even still be.

As I said, we have a few years of history.

In any case, a few years back, he opted to ignore me as opposed to owning up to the fact that he was wrong about me, hence why I phrased my sig the way I did, it's a copy from his, and I know he still sees my sig, so.. I hope he enjoys that little reminder, that he ignored me as opposed to having the testicular fortitude to just admit he was wrong.

Now, with that bit of history out of the way, why he opted to take off the Ignore, not sure, but he's been making an ass of himself towards me since, so much so, that it's become a bad joke on this forum... to the point that it became. Oh Look, Ungood and Slapshot are getting into a pissing contest, again.. how lame as fuck.

I'll be honest, In case you haven't caught this, I have a very thrown down mentality, and Slapshot has a very fragile ego and will never admit fault, this makes for bad collisions, with that said, I had some other posters point it out to me that it was not fair to this community as a whole, to always have the two us of going at it, derailing damn near every single fucking thread.

Ask the others, they will back this up.

Since it was clear he his fragile ego would never let him stop, it was on me to adult up, and take some kind of action, So I added him to my ignore list.

Things went very quiet from there, and You have shown up, during those quiet times, which, welcome to the forums, trust me when I say, things have been much better since I took that action to ignore him.

But, my god, his lies, are just too much sometimes, and I needed to call it out, if you want to take him at his word that he does this or that, or knows this or that, that's on you. I let people make their own fuckups in that regard.

Again, welcome to the forums, good to have someone that does not remember the shit times.

Now, with that said, lets get back to talking about gaming Pads.

Depending on the software, it can be super easy.

While I am not sure about the Cyborg thing, I can tell you with a Razer Tartaus, it gives you a visual of the Keypad, and you have a point and click interface, where you can use Key entry, or select which functions you want it to preform.

Red Dragon, Keyed Mouse, is similar.

Most of the programmable key gaming systems I have used, have been pretty easy, some have a bit of a steep learning curve, but, well with all the ones I have used, once you click on how it works, it just becomes super easy.

This also includes programmable controller programs, which are also great for gaming, depending on how the game is set up, you can make controllers work for a lot of MMO's that are not set up for them.

Just something to think about as well, if you plan to build a collection of input devices like I have, because after a hard days work, my hands hurt.

Looks pretty cool, I'll have to check it out and see if I like it more than the Tartarus Pro I'm currently using. Been using a similar style gamepad for the past 15yrs. Started with the Belkin N52te and then switched to the Razer Nostromo and then to the Tartarus Pro. I'm currently using the Naga Hex v2 14-button mouse with it. It's nice being able to configure both in Razer Synapse but the Cyborg gamepad definitely has my interest. Thanks for sharing.
