The recent Elder Scrolls Online PC Server issues have (probably been resolved) after bad hardware was replaced, according to Director Matt Firor. Bonuses are coming to help make up for the issues.

Fixed it for you Matt. But what do I know? I'm just a crybaby PvP player...
I would not put it past them to flat out lie about it. ZOS is a shit company that doesn't get enough criticism.
PvP performance is a perpetual issue if one goes by the perpetual complaints about it. These issues were more widespread and affected people in far less demanding play circumstances and have now been solved whereas PvP performance I expect remains not.
The two issues are clearly not connected, so wailing over PvP woes isn't particularly applicable to this specific situation.

The one thing that really annoys me about modern game companies or mmo games in general is their lack of communication in normal ways why cant they put a notice in the launcher that says were having issues instead of just tweeting I should not have to use some other tool to know there are issues and they are working on it.
Completely agree. This is just basic monitoring 101. Their explanation simply makes no sense whatsoever.
Basic network monitoring tools would have detected this in an instant.
So its either a flatout lie and they think we are all stupid or worse, they just exposed their sheer incompetence and malpractice in running a live service.
I'm sure a problem was detected by their monitoring. Seeing as the hardware was failing rather than having outright failed perhaps that detection wasn't with pinpoint precision. Regardless, the problem was found and addressed so they enough information to at least generally know where it was.
Hariken claims the problem is still there but perhaps he is muddying issues as Viper482 did by referencing PvP and thus alluding to related performance issues with that despite this issue being totally unrelated to it.
Sometimes people aren't all that precise at discerning issues and confining their complaints to the matter at hand.
As for private servers, they operate on a scale nowhere that of ESO making it a poor comparison. How much hardware would they have to deal with in contrast with a commercially successful MMORPG with a considerable population.
