Microsoft the goods guys, never thought I would hear myself say that. But im still pissed at being forced to upgrade my I7700K to run windows 11 when this cpu is more than adequate for the forseeable future so still the bad guys and in principal I hate them.

There's an enormous difference between needing to upgrade in three years and needing to upgrade right now.  Come 2025, that 7700K will be 8 years old and the computer could easily be on its last legs.

In recent years, CPUs have been progressing only inches forward. A 7700K gives maybe 5% less performance than a 10700K, so its understandable that Datastar is a bit unhappy that Windows 11 doesn't support his 7700K.
Until last year I was rocking an overclocked 3770 and it ran everything I threw at it.  I finally swapped because of all the other benefits a new MB would bring and wanted to upgrade my RAM.

Well of course they will. That way they can plead irreconcilable differences and spin those job divisions off to outsourcing even easier. All while looking like the good guys.

This exactly, I upgrade when my games no longer perform on high and above settings, not before then and I dont see a cpu upgrade as a bottleneck in the next 3 years.

How grand it is of Micro$oft to honor article 23.4 of "the universal declaration of human rights" that states:
"Everyone has the right to form and to join trade unions for the protection of his interests."

You can still install Windows 11 from install media. I have a laptop with a 7400(I think?) and I upgraded that way. Totally fine. I can still do 1080p medium/high on anything I would want to play with a 1050 in that.

I had an Ivy-Bridge system until Christmas 2020. It was starting to show it's age, but it was still more playable. I always go through 2-3 gens of GPUs on a rig before I upgrade and I don't upgrade those but every 2-3 gens.

I used to get myself a complete new gaming PC every three to four years. That stopped somewhere between 2005 and 2010, they were just not getting that much better. So now a gaming rig lasts about five years for me.

I may reach the point where I only get a new PC to enable me to have a new Windows OS instead of for gaming reasons, but we are not there yet! :)

Blame Intel for not adding TPM earlier, while the competition already had.

I side with the OP on this. Good that they do bare minimum decency... But since they told me that my computer is shit and that they do not want Win11 on it... Fuck em.
