The List: MMOs With The Best Character Customization | MMORPG.com
Every gamer loves to customize their character to make them their own. We break down some of the best MMOs to create the avatar of your wildest dreams.
Champions Online is the only one in that list that allows you to make a really unique character. All the others might give you a lot of options, but you really can't see them very well and you pretty much look like everyone else.
We said Star Wars Galaxies yet? Could mix and match any professions you wanted, maxxing 2 1/2 of them which you could then switch up whenever you wanted, plus whole professions dedicated to character customization (face and hair)

It was good back in the day; playing it now the sliders don't change as much as I thought I remember. As far as builds it was great, but if you wanted to be competitive there was definitely a FOTM template build.
I want options for character customization. CoH and CO are both very good. Someone give me similar options in a fantasy setting.
More than that, I want character customization to actually mean something in the game. You want to make your 900lb. Hulk clone (assuming Marvel doesn't stop you)? Fine, just be aware that you won't be allowed to sit in the $1200 Chippendale dining chairs.
Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.
Character customization...for me that means hitting the random button a few times and then thats good enough and go play.....Could care less about what I look like since I only see my backside most of the time.

I'm mixed on that one. I don't spend that much time creating my character. But, I do have some limits.
For example, when I loaded up Lost Ark and tried to create a Bard, my only option was a giggly little girl in a mini-skirt.
I think Character Customization means both setting their appearance how you like and also setting how they play (abilities, skills, traits, perks).
BDO may have powerful visual customization, but in terms of how your character plays, it seems like there are only two paths to choose from so for that I find the game to be very stiff and underdeveloped.
On the other end of the spectrum is Project Gorgon, which barely has any visual customization at the moment and characters look frankly ugly, but from what I know when the game is close to finalized, it will get updated character models. But where the game actually shines, is the fact that your character can learn literally every skill in the game without exception. And you can choose for them which two skill sets you want to combine together for your combat style. In a way it's similar to how it was in ArcheAge, except the skill trees are two instead of three and you can swap them at will, you don't have to go through extra hoops to do it.
BDO on top is a given; the visual character customization is awesome deep; sadly the polar opposite of the non-visual customization (class/gender/weapon locked choices).
But weird to not see Star Trek Online on such a list. Its quite close to Champions Online (same engine roots). And as having dabbled a tiny bit in Warframe I wish it had half the customization options STO offers.
Useless article to try to pick up clicks, even the images are strange to try to trigger users. Do not even have an Asian MMO. It could have been a good article.

CoH hands down, I know it is not official out now but it is still top dog.
It isn't CoH. It was behind CO when the game was live, and the customization in CO is far more varied now that in was then. It's not even even close to being a contest now.

Idk, even on TSpy I feel like you could do wackier shit in NGS.
Not played it, could you layer different costume segments to get a new look? I used that to create a stippled look on what looked like leather normally.

I'd add STO to the list as you can go totally hog wild and create an alien unique from everyone else if you want to.
SWG (pre-cu) - AoC (pre-f2p) - PotBS (pre-boarder) - DDO - LotRO (pre-f2p) - STO (pre-f2p) - GnH (beta tester) - SWTOR - Neverwinter
As someone who has 16 characters for the sole purpose of having more looks, I'd say the character customization is top notch.
Mess with the best, Die like the rest

Backside most of the time........
Yes! This is why the hips slider is essential.

Doubt that crown will ever be taken when people are creating dinosaurs and MODOK.
I completely agree but I stayed away from unofficial servers. That knocked out CoH and Star Wars Galaxies.
The list is far from exhaustive. Please enlighten us as to what you would add and why.

Understandable, the site has to remember their quasi-legal status, we as players don't.
