Oh I don't know, maybe because one is a twelve old MMORPG, one is a tiny little indie survival game that hit it big, and NW is a game made by a company with more money than many country's yearly GDP, is less than a year old, and has been a constant out of control dumpster fire from the jump? Just a thought. ... Not that you care of course.
Steam numbers for FFXIV are a very small fraction of the game's player base. Comparing a 'must install a steam account' game to one which is primarily purchased and played outside that system will give you a false picture of actual playing numbers.

You just keep bringing up this stupidity, when people keep telling you that the vast majority of FFXIV players (me included) don´ t play FFXIV via Steam, but via the Native client. As we bought everything via the SE store and don´ t feel like buying everything again just to play via Steam.
The FFXIV native client works perfectly fine, so I have no urgent desire to play it via Steam.
A lot of MMO´ s on Steam are a joke anyway, as it is just a Steamwrap and nothing more, as they still launch the native client out of Steam and in most cases you still have to have Native account outside steam as well. Making it honestly, completely pointless to use Steam for these games.

Probably because New World is Steam-only so any tracking website can show the true population of that game. Yoshi (FFXIV's director) said only 3-5% of people play FFXIV through Steam.
So.. yeah, FFXIV is still doing leaps and bounds better.
Point being, New World is still in a sorry state and their slow development isn't helping anything. The roadmap is a bit of a joke compared to other MMOs, there's just not enough content coming out and the endgame loop is still as terrible as ever. A new weapon isn't going to fix that.
They could still pull an ESO turnaround though, give enough time.
Hmm his post history is a bit negative about every game out there, maybe he just got out of bed on the wrong side the whole of this year?
He is not negative about every game. He is positive about Lost Ark and New World for example. He is offensive to other posters and staff. Examples:
Pos garbo site.
Gamers are mainly degenerates who cannot think for themselves and nobody cares what they say. And you and most posters here including the OP of the article itself belong to that group.
Nobody cares what some no life AGS hater says on this site.
To the more ons with the hateful childish comments above, if you don’t like it simply go play your amazing combat/graphics/content/systems masterpiece game of choice instead of coming here and trying to hate on another video game like some dumbass kids who think they are the smartest morons out there.
This garbage mmorpg.con site just lost all credibility.
Cons: incredibly boring leveling “ biased load of garbage subjective review. I’m done with this idiotic site. Game is godly. Dumbass haters.
Etc etc. Which makes him fair game for everyone else here. He is funny though, I like him.
Oh right, there's nothing wrong with being a fan boy but posters are going to take you to task if you think you can trash every other MMO out there.

Reminds me a few other posters to be honest. He's not the only one to bash almost every game here.
