While the game has a ton to do the ultimate goal seems to be ilvl, and it is pretty easy initially. I can really see the bulk of this population fading off into oblivion eventually though, because it is just not sustainable for casual players (who make up a majority of any MMO). Throw on top of that the hardcore aspect of much of the content to the point you need voice comms to coordinate success and I really see this being a niche MMO within a year. You can only explore so many islands and run so many chaos dungeons/guardian raids before you get bored. Still enjoying it but I can't see this lasting too long. I know it had success in the east, but this is not Korea....

Great explanation of the "perfect storm" of factors that coalesced into the issue with gearing between 1340 and 1370; any one of them could be dealt with easily, but all three together turn a grind into a G R I N D. The fact that Amazon is aware of this, and does not consider it a good status quo, is cause for optimism.

"...by the time the raid was even released...."

I feel like this part is important to keep in mind and is more of a design decision more than a 'misstep' as it were. People have been so used to western versions of mmorpgs getting people 'ready' for the latest content for the past 6+ years or so. There was a point in time where new stuff came out and a lot of newer people simply couldn't do it. WoW used to do such content releases (definitely before Legion), that made the entire expansion's raids useful all the way through it because people had to progress through them in order to get to the latest one (most of the time). So it comes down to personal taste imo.

As the writer does state though, things in the Korean version did help alleviate some of these things that it feels like AGS choice not to have implemented to capitalize on people's impatience is my guess.

Honing is a bane for casuals. Im 20pts from T3 1302. Then i will just hone to 1340 at my pace and park it. Then hope a patch comes along soon to inject more mats or increase honing chances.

i disagree with their explanation and their excuses are flat out lies. But atleast, finally today the timer where all content revolves around is fixed.

i think the biggest mistake most people are making is not having alts and progressing them. in the time and resources to get 1 character to 1370 you can probably get all 6 characters to t3 instead.

its so funny people just love to hate on games these days no one is forceing you to get to ilvl 1370 play at your own pace

Amazon CM posted weeks ago that guardians had a sucess rate on some cases of 10% so they had the numbers , they for sure knew the % of ppl at 1370 or hell 1340 to 1370 and was low because tons of ppl were stuck , YET THEY DECIDED TO RELEASE ARGOS

it was all about $$$ i dont have any proofs nor any doubts

I'm playing the game on a daily basis and enjoying my ride a lot.

What I don't like as of now is the 2 guardian dungeons per day. The fights are fairly annoying (as a melee player) and usually last very long. They eat resources like crazy.

I would love to see some VOIP action going, otherwise I will eventually stop PUG:ing content completely. Did two Abyssals yesterday and oh my... We were 2 premades out of 4 and we carried most of the content and I was also the one providing info regarding the tactics. We had to start over twice as people don't have crystalline aura and died enough times to have 0 durability. So a VOIP would help a lot with the frustrating.

"So much so, that even players in the Korean version of the game expressed concerns over it."

If even those guys recon 1370 is a bit much then something is out of kilter. :)

My group and I have had our struggles in the 1340 to 1370 band. Of course, we just have to deal with it.

Hitting up our weekly sources for materials, then once they're dry we shift into doing our dailies, then either shifting into horizontal content or play another game until the next day, and we continue like that until the next weekly reset.

Just to update a bit about mats. You can gain tier 3 mats from merchants ships around continents, the Arkesia Daily Event merchant sells it as well also you can farm chaos dungs after the aura is gone then you can exchange it at the merchant. Its a lot of grind but they all have weekly resets so thorough out whole week you can slowly farm. Also new casual daily Guardian Raid which you get exchange coins to exchange at the merchant.

I suspect I'm reading about content I'm unlikely to ever see. Someone recently shared less than 5% of total players on Steam has even cleared some basic T1 / T2 achievements, me being one of them.

So as with any MMO which has high tier raiding, my guess is less than 10% of the customer base is anywhere near that point, nor will they ever be unless rushed along at some point later.

So not surprising if AGS isn't particularly concerned about the elite, but they also are aware said tier is likely succeptable to P2W and taking advantage of them.
