High Isle is the next chapter in the Elder Scrolls Online, and coming with the expansion is a trip to the Systres Archipelago. Knights and noble houses dominate the island chain, as well as a fun card game coming to Tamriel as well.

Still not crazy about the complex card game they're adding. A Druid class would have been so much better, especially since Druids will be prominently featured in this DLC.

The base version is on Xbox Game Pass....I don't think it's on PC Game Pass, though.

I think one could make a passable druid using the Warden class so I don't see the absence of a class dedicated to that theme as a big loss. What would have been a neat addition instead in my opinion would be a druidic organization similar to the guilds for assassins and thieves so that aspect could be weaved into any character if desired.
Another thing that could have been nice is a new weapon line, such as one handed and magical focus that would be thematically suited to their harmonization of damage by type they have been working toward.
But, what have is the card game instead. There is far more to it than I expected so it will at least have the potential to be interesting for those inclined to play. They are also integrating it into the world at large so it should feel more part of the world than something blatantly duct taped on after. That it is only available to players with access to High Isle counters that depiction though. It would have more sense as a base game addition in that aspect, but after seeing how much was put into it I don't see how that could be expected.
It would have been more exciting for you and others like yourself but at the same time I expect far more boring to me and others like myself.
While the presentation of the sport would have been more dynamic for anyone to watch it will only be of true interest to those that want more active play elements in a game already full of such. Though lacking in visual excitement the card game will add a relaxed mode of play with others not found elsewhere in the game.
The card game adds more in terms of variety in a game genre that tends to attract players with a wide variety of tastes than yet another active play mode that best satisfies those already well covered by what the game currently has.
A new class would be cool.
Imagine reworking overland contents difficulty and making the game better instead of wasting development time on that misconceived vanity project.
Many things are better than a card game IMO but then I'm not a fan of these tacked on things in RPGs. I've replayed The Witcher 3 several times for hundreds of hours and I don't think I spent more than 10 minutes playing Gwent.
I also think that the Bartlett score should only have Killer, Achiever and Explorer. Socializer is this other thing that should be a step or two down from those main 3

They are making the game better, constantly in fact. For those that enjoy the card game it will be part of that making better.
There is plenty of difficulty about. That you have to step trough a door to exit from the overland to get it isn't all that crippling.
Sure, there are many things people would have felt better or welcomed along with the card game, probably almost as many things as there are people. Regardless of all that, the card game it be and some will be delighted for that.
As more details come out I may come to feel it an excellent addition to the game. But with the hybrid changes and the new content itself I'm already getting plenty to focus on. If the card game turns out to be the garnish I toss off that plate I don't see myself getting all that upset about it.
But yeah, new classes or weapons or NPC guilds, I'm all for any of that. Those all contribute to keeping the entire game fresh. Maybe even a new race if there is one feasible in the Elder Scrolls setting that hasn't been trotted out yet.
Aren't there always? No matter what is done there will always be something considered to have more priority unaddressed. Then again, how long has adding something like this to the game been on hold to address other priorities. Could something like this ever be added with a focus on priority only.
Eventually if stuff like this is to be added to a game a turn must be made for it, even if that means pushing it ahead of other things in the queue.
