When Outriders released just over a year ago, players all over the world were introduced to the dangerous land of Enoch, and their unique brand of God-like beings known as the Altered. Now, People Can Fly has a new paid expansion on the way, and if our short preview of Worldslayer is any indication of what's to come, you better prepare yourselves for a whole 'lotta slaying.

Looking forward to it. The gear in this game is awesome, but on launch they screwed up so much. Some of the stats didn't even work at all. This will give me a reason to come back and I hope they've improved the game a lot.

I loved the game, not so much the end game though. I quit after finishing the story and leveling 2 classes. Can't wait to hop back in with the expansion! I'll probably install it again to try the end game some more.

I downloaded it recently and found it a perfectly fun TPS cover shooter.  The main character isn't very likeable, which I think also hurt the game because there's such a focus on your avatars "character" in the game world.

The main character needed more exposé on his/her background before leaving Earth to justify the crude, nonchalant way the player avatar sometimes approaches some pretty heavy topics and situations.  It's hard to identify with the avatar, which left me feeling disconnected from the plight of the avatar and his/her companions in the game.

Beyond that though, I didn't have any particular qualms with it.  It's just not something I would play long-term without friends.

I am actually pretty excited about this...kind of forgot about it...going to start playing again.

I just played the demo. I got dissuaded to play after some bad reviews. Then I forgot about the game. Sad, because I had actually a good time during the demo.

Played it with two friends at launch for about a month where we cleared all available content. We had a blast, it was so much fun in co-op (despite some balancing problems, massive server problems and bad design decisions like the timers for endgame dungeons etc.)

But since the game wasn't designed as a 'games as service' type of game there was nothing else to do once we've finished everything. I am happy to have a reason for me and my crew to return. Good news!

Outriders is a pretty awesome, and schizophrenic, mix of Destiny and Gears of War. Its cover mechanics are pretty much useless and the massive tonal shift from introduction to actual game (vulnerable and emotional to rude and crass) was a massive disappointment for me but its a good game with solid mechanics and great character building. I also like the look they went for. Will definitely try out the expansion.

    Kyleran on yours sincerely

'But there are many. You can play them entirely solo, and even offline. Also, you are wrong by default.'

Ikcin in response to yours sincerely debating whether or not single-player offline MMOs exist...

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.

It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

It is just huge resource waste....'

I enjoyed this game a lot and certainly got my money's worth. I stopped playing before the last update. I had 2 classes pretty much min / maxxed but i could just not get the final piece or pieces of gear to drop. I got to the point i was running missions a hundred times and would not get a single useful piece of gear. If you had a non geared group the timer was punishing. The one instance even with geared group was tough to get the top level time. I think i read where they removed rewards based on time which was definitely needed. Once in an burned out of lost ark i may go back

Loved the game, but started drifting away when I hit endgame. I do love when devs add endless leveling to games though. Even that .001% gives me something to chase which draws me back in.

Anyone have opinions on various classes, especially for single player mode?
I feel like most solo players would enjoy technomancer or pyromancer. Technomamcer has turrets and also the caustic bullets. The special bullets were the meta for a long time, but they are only available on pyromancer, technomancer and trickster. Each have ther own special bullets. But technomancer and pyromancer have better healing.

Pyromancer can also play like a strong mage/caster, so that's always fun.

Trickster is just hard to master, and devastator is awesome but there are some situations where their abilities are useless.

Thanks. If I can, I'll make a couple and see what I enjoy playing most.

Are build choices permanent or can the skill tree be reconfigured if I feel I've made a bad choice?
You can change your tree and skills around at any time. The only tough thing is getting the mods and gear drops you want. You'll want gear with at least one main mod you like and hopefully some good trait rolls to save you from grinding.

You can't really retrofit your gear once you start getting the legendary gear with special tier 3 mods so at that point you hopefully settle on a build. If you do get drops just hang onto them and don't swap the mods until you're ready.

Wow, the writing and dialog are bad, really bad. It was sort of kitschy in the tutorial, but not too bad. Then boom, it just took a dump all over itself. There really isn't a nice way to put that.

    Hopefully it gets better.
It does not. The main characters, and the player character are just awful. I think there was some kind of thought when they created the story where they're like "lets not make this a normal protagonist and they just don't take anything seriously" and that's what they did.

And it just ends up that the main character is an asshole and he's really unlikable. It kills a lot of the story. Judging from the worldslayer demo, it seems like it's just getting worse.

But the rest of the game is really fun.
