After so many years of waiting and wishing for this project collapse only to see it thrive and prosper every year must be daunting for their self-esteem while for us backers and gamers enjoying it is just cherry on top really.

I think most people here want the game to succeed.
I'd like to see server meshing actually work that's for sure. I just think it's crazy to hinge so much behind unimplemented technology that may not be achievable in a reasonable time frame.

I think most people here want the game to succeed.
They sure have an odd way of showing appreciation for the company making it
Perhaps because most don't understand what kind of game is being built or the amount of work it involves.
I guess that most here understand the very basic concept of ‘shitty companies can still produce good games.’
And I also think most here have actually played the game to some extent and might have a different view. And when one side then tries to sell every single thing as most amazing ever the logical reaction on the other side will be to sell everything as scam or rubbish. The best part is when people on one side of ‘the spectrum’ then make fun of the other side of the same coin they belong to as well. I mean, the “real” fans display the exact kind of behaviour as the “haters.”

^--- All the more reason why we really all should be hoping that SC is a huge success. A 500 million dollar failure would probably hurt game development for a decade and become the poster boy for failure.
Its CONTINUING decade long failure hasnt slowed anything down. How many games have been funded and released since this one was announced? Despite there never being a crowd funded game being released prior to the announcement.
Common denominator in most of the failed crowd funded games was they were mostly all started by previous failures (with big names) in the gaming world.
Funny how so many 'visionaries' who were handcuffed (their claims) by the greedy producers and developers fail and fail and fail at actually RELEASING anything. While no name guys in their basements have released success after success after success. And with a fraction of the budget many of the name recognition guys have/had.
As for SC proper I have said it for years the ONLY thing that has kept this nonsense from folding and disappearing is the innate ability for the fools who continue to give it money. More amazing still is that it kept getting money through a pandemic, and if it continues to raise money through this upcoming recession (if not depression) it will most certainly be a miracle.
It seems the more haters double down on their salt the more players join the game and the more funding CIG get to make the best space sim ever.

Like frogs in the increasing boil: "Come in, the water's fine!"
As always, you conflate marketing and money with the quality of the development.
But hey, give them $750 million, and maybe they can release that single player game they promised. With two years and another development studio, maybe. Wonder what they were doing with SQ42 before? So do a lot of other folks.

Remember THREE years ago (3.5 actually) when they got that 46 or whatever million from those South African 'investors'?
If I remember correctly, and I usually do, they (CIG) had raised around 200 million at the time (so half what the current total is) and that 46 million was for a stake, 10% I think. I also remember how that raised all sort of buzz because it FINALLY included a hard release date, well a revied for the umpteenth time release date, (which many, including myself) thought would mean them actually RELEASING something. Simply because they had some seemingly ;serious' investors with at least a little bit of expectation.
The hard date (as hard as game development could be) was Summer of 2020 for the Squadron 42 release. Well that is soon to be a two year miss. Even with an outside 'serious' investor in the mix. Blame Covid I guess.
I also seem to remember laughing as how they claimed that 10% was the aforementioned 10% stake in CIG because someone (who knows who) 'valued' the 'company' at around half a billion dollars. I do remember laughing so hard I almost fell out of my chair.
How could a 'company' with ZERO assets (other than the highly publicized over prices junk they bought, including but not limited to 5 figure coffee machines and six figure murals (which are now almost a decade old) be worth half a billion? The only thing they have and continue to have is the funds they continue to bilk out of fools and the IP. Which really isnt an IP but a generic space environment. I suppose SQ 42/Wing Commander could be considered IP but does Roberts own the rights to either?
All I know is the ORIGINAL release date was 2014. I also remember claims from Roberts Brother that he had played the FULL versions (which included 3 chapters) of SQ 42 way back in 2016. And still was promising a 2017 release date, until he got called out then said there might be a slight delay.
Either way These guys have literally had EVERYTHING handed to them. Shit Amazon even 'fixed' the engine issues for them. Remember that whole debacle? They even broke SQ 42 off from the 'main game'. So no matter how 'ambitious' they want to claim SC proper is. How frigging hard is it to make a story driven single player offline game? Especially when you have had nearly half a billion dollars given to you. And a decade to complete it, and 3.5 years since announcing it was going to be the main focus of ALL development?
Anyone with any braincells left knows this is the biggest grift in gaming history. Why and how it is allowed to continue is beyond me. But that is the nature of the world we live in today. Scamming and handouts and living off the broken systems that never seem to get fixed or tried to get fixed. Dog eat dog world.
In the end they continue to do the same shit they have done for a decade. Miss dates, break promises (which they dont even bother to make anymore). Come up with something new to distract from their failures and rake in ungodly amounts of money. While what they have is BARELY any better (especially performance wise) than it was when they started to release stuff live. That all including computers with 10 more years of performance increases, and many still cant run it properly. Because it doesnt run properly at its core. Then add in a complete and utter lack or any meaningful 'content' and what do you have?
Like I said its so bad, the last time Erillion posted ANTHING on these forums was Sept 2021. The Pig has been active semi recently but his last comments on SC were in January in the thread about SQ 42 still being a couple years off. So basically 6 years after the Calders gave them a 46 million dollar check (tax write off/loss). What are the odds they release SQ 42 even then? Give them until Summer of 2024. Thats two years and if they continue their average, another ~150-200 million more dollars. Which would bring their total to between 700-750 million funded. And STILL not being able to release a single player offline game. Hilarious people still try and defend this bullshit.

SQ42, like evert game should, will release When It's Ready and probably make them more money in one year than what they crowdfunded in 10 years
They'll likely not release it until the multiplayer game is quite close to delivery. (I believe it's mostly complete already)
Too much of a chance to tank the incoming cash flow if SQ42 isn't the greatest single player space game in history.
Most obvious reason, but IMO I dont think they have ANYTHING even remotely close to release.
But yes them NOT releasing much of anything can be attributed to them not wanting to 'fail' (as if they havent already).
But what you see is what you get and are going to get. Roberts himself basically admitted in an article from 3 or 4 years ago that the money they are getting is already spent. he did the article/sit down to basically assuage fear that they didnt have any money.
Also a funny part of that article was the slip (truth) when he said IF SQ 42 releases. Not WHEN. So even then after he had gotten the money from the Calders he was still saying 'if'. I think he said it more than once actually. But I imagine people can find it, its the one from Dec 2018.
"Squadron 42 will be done when it is done,

Anthem despite releasing broken still made around 100$millions in revenue in the first month. NoManSky 45$Millions first months. Cyberpunk 550$Millions first months.
So dev's releasing rushed games are still making lots of money. But they are doing it so because they have to put profits ahead of quality and that's not something to be cherished.
Bethesda did the right thing by delaying Starfield, if it's not ready then it's not ready.
Besides, the ones who most vocally get angry about delays are also the ones who will most vocally be angry with a game releasing in a broken state lol

No spine no gaming culture no nothing.
You dont even see the irony here. IF they had ANYTHING remotely close to 'release' ready they would release it. For the EXACT reason you mention.....money. They continue to push out 'updates' to their PU, (usually coinciding with some new ship sale event) just to try and convince people theyre making 'progress'. But those are continually breaking more things than theyre advancing. So they release broken 'content' every time they update their tech demo you guys keep calling a game.
One thing that hasnt been touched on and even if you answer I am sure it will be spun if not an outright lie, but how many of the jpegs they have sold over the decades are now actual in game assets?
But the aforementioned 'broken' games. they all RELEASED. For better or worse. They have also all been updated and worked on and improved.
EVERY GAME EVER got the hype boost when it released. Not many have ever actually gotten more players as time when on. So this myth that these guys want to spin about 'release it when its ready' isnt fooling anyone.
They know that once it releases and it fails the money train dries up. Its really that simple. Could they get a on time massive influx? Even that is doubtful since after a decade I suspect anyone that want to buy it already has. So they dont really even have THAT option. Their only option is to slow roll and perpetuate the myth theyre actually still trying to complete it. Especially SC and the online game.
SQ 42 who really knows. As long as people who have 'invested' money dont care when it comes out they have no pressure. Most of us thought the Calders MIGHT, but its apparent now they arent. It really was, at the time a simple case of the Calders lighting 50 million on fire and using it as some sort of write off. Especially considering (which I failed to mention in the other post) they used some sort of 'option' to 'reinvest' more. But that is more than likely in part to the Ponzi scheme finally bearing fruit as these guys have somehow been allowed to pay 'dividends' on something that doesnt exist yet.
People can play semantics all they want, the absolute truth is CIG is continuing to make the claims they have raised nearly HALF A BILLION dollars. People can cite the existing version of the tech demo as 'proof' there is a game. But even IF you all want to do that would ANYONE say that what is currently available is 'Worth' half a billion dollars? because what you see is what you get. There arent tens of millions or even millions sitting in an account somewhere waiting to be used. Theyre living donation to donation.
So its a Ponzi scheme of epic proportion. Like I said in the other post. get a 'big time' 'outside' 'investor' 'leak' it, then says it shows that 'legit' people are willing to 'invest'. yet 3.5 years later not a single other 'outside' investor' (let alone one that significant') has put money into this. So you have these guys (with personal connection to Roberts and his family) put this 'investment' in. Then they use their option to 'invest' more. Now theyre getting paid dividends. Despite coming in YEARS after this thing all started. So now you have BACKERS (fools who buy ships and send these crooks money) who havent seen anything remotely close to what they backed a decade ago; and 'investors' (lone friend of the family) who come in years later and are already seeing ROI on their money.
As I alluded to above, they continue to push out this new 'content' which fools who are too blind to see its a scam use a 'proof' that it isnt a scam or a Ponzi scheme because theyre spending the money. Yeah theyre spending the money (85% which their own financial reports show) is on SALARIES. Including PENSIONS LMAO..... But no itemization of who gets what. But the latest statement was for 2020. They showed 432 employees. With Salaries of 18,187,655. For 2019 they have 391 with salaries of 17,623,373. So napkin math From 2019 to 2020 they added 41 employees and added 563918 in Salaries. Thats an average of 13754 per person. That seems awfully low. But people can cite all sorts of reasons I suspect. Part time, contractors etc. But still the fact is you can probably suspect Roberts and his crime family 'executives' are probably drawing salaries a bit bigger than that....
So you have a Ponzi scheme where people are giving money for something that doesnt really exist, at least not in 'true' value. And you have people making a living off it. I said this was the premise of this scam years ago. Roberts and his family living like rock stars. Buying all sorts of fancy shit, surely renting/leasing douchey cars and vehicles. Doing all the things these types of people do to make themselves feel self important.
Either way the fools who are so oblivious to what is going on fit right in I guess. if anything the past two years show theyre not alone.
Just dont try and defend this scam to people with more than two braincells.
Releasing broken games does no one good, companies take reputation hits and make less sales while players get a worst product and experience.
Frontier rushed the release of Odyssey DLC (the one that was supposed to kill Star Citizen lol) and it was so broken that a lot of their players moved to Star Citizen.
So yeah... if a studio has the time and funding to develop their games to be the best they can be everyone wins.
Gamers crying "are we there yet" should just go on and enjoy their lives while games are developed, shouldn't be too hard. Or is it?
"Squadron 42 will be done when it is done,

So you are saying that when SQ42 releases, and Star Citizen after that... both will be 100% bug free and 100% complete?
Because if you are NOT saying that, then everything you are posting is worthless as it's only a matter of to what degree the game is "broken'.

Because if you are NOT saying that, then everything you are posting is worthless as it's only a matter of to what degree the game is "broken'.
