    PLEASE REMEMBER!!

You are not PLAYING a game here. You are actually TESTING a PRE?- Alpha game. There WILL be issues. Bugs, drops, graphical errors, etc.

Still , that being said , game is somewhat demanding in hardware . (although i would think the Newest generation of cards should have NO problems ) . IT IS a dam gorgeous test bed, some (mining) game mechanics fairly fleshed out, others not so much .

So if your curious , go for it. Its free for the week at least. After you can decide to buy or not a basic package, Make sure you read what your buying too make sure Squadron 42 is included in the bundle .

Have been in since the beginning (well dam close too) . In with only 2 ships deep not that bad.

Yeah, I'm in pretty deep on this game. I have a whole stable of ships, but I've given up on it basically. If it ever actually releases as a complete, playable game with minimal bugs it will be a pleasant surprise, but my guess is Chris Roberts is going to milk this endless scope creep until he either dies or get bought out for a billion dollars or something crazy like that.

They still didn't file for bankruptcy?

It's an instanced game with a 50 player cap per zone, that's 10 years behind current tech.

You are not PLAYING a game here. You are actually being scammed into buying more pixels for a game still in alpha despite being in development for a decade with record funding closing in on half a billion dollars.

    There.....I fixed it for you.

The game download is too big to bother and I don't think I can run it too well with i5 8400 and GTX 1650. If it was like 5-10GB download, I'd be OK with it, but anything above that is not worth it. I can get up to 8-9MB/s and it takes me to download a 5GB game in 10 minutes, but I won't bother for anything more than that.

My advise: STAY AWAY FROM THIS TRASH! It might look good, but it is not a finished game and not even close to finished. They already took in Miljons of dollars and there still is no game. Biggest scam ever!

And remember folks, when Chris’ promises come through he is amazing and a visionary leader. When his promises fall absolutely flat however it is always, always the dumb, impatient, clueless haters fault. Because being a game developer is hard, but having integrity is even harder.

Generally since the first big part of the server mesh core work is meant to start testing already as the next major update, things are looking far more realistic.

Considering he said highly likely it can't happen on Q4 this year the initial testing if this next update major implementation testing takes longer to stabilize, even with the usual 101 delays next year seems ok.

The tone has somewhat changed, because this is a full company priority as they can't expand the game-world without this releasing, so it's non-negotiable, has to happen. Don't think it's realistic to have the whole of 2022 and 2023 without expanding the game-world.

Beyond that, gen12 is another major piece for client performance that already started to see fractions implemented, with visible performance improvements, so this has been a multi-year wait for these tech bits to develop that we're finally seeing it materialize in implementations.

Don't you think they could have expanded the game world faster if they had not gone for individually designed systems? I am not sure who they spun that of to or how many were done, but ED shows that such extra time and resources are unnecessary.

And welcome back, I hope the negativity on the SC threads has not just made you give up on commenting.

Well but if it was to be ED what's the point, relying on the algorithm to procgen an universe to me is one of the negatives of ED, not positives, it dillutes the entire game-world into a "different yet the same" game-world, without the ability to be lore-driven and has a rather superficial result as far its depth of content goes.

I think the way SC does it, because SC does not specifically hand-craft everything, procgen is used to get the planets, moons and even stations done at scale, but, it's all controlled to be in line with the lore and consistency of what the area is to be, looks and content-wise.

If we look at Pyro of what has been already shown of it, the system is crafted for the lore, this piracy heaven wasteland, lack of security where even the space stations are these old abandoned refurbished places for pirate homebases, that's exactly what they can do with this direction, that despite the time it takes really pays off for giving an unique vibe to each location.

But to the point, I do not think that the problem here is the time locations take to create, several teams are already working on other systems beyond Pyro (like Nyx), so wouldn't be that being the holdout. What I also see is that they put the army of artists they have heavily on SQ42 because a bulk of Pyro work comes from Turbulent which is an outsourced studio, what hints that SC-specific location creation is rather stalled as far their priorities go, which we can speculate is because of a mix of a pressure that prioritized the campaign work even more and the inability to release this location-work until the mesh implements.

At this point, why bother?  Until there is some sign that there is some sort of completion actually planned there is no more hype to be squeezed out of the community.

Wake me when the "persistent" universe is actually persistent and there will be no wipes.

That said... this is a GOOD thing they do. I know it's to drum up interest, but there are tons of Crowdfunding companies that lock access behind an NDA and cash shop. These guys let you TRY it and SEE what is there. (At least now.. those of us Golden Ticket Holders didn't have that option)

So certainly, if interested go take a peek while it's free. Be an informed consumer.

"You're scaming in buying more pixels in an never ending alpha".

Yeah, sure, you can install the game, and then Chris Roberts will come into your house with a gun and force you to buy every single ship they concept.

Le'ts avoid be this guy, please. You can try the game for free (right now or in any of the multiple free fly events they do). If you don't like it, you think that it's not playabe enough yet (bugs can be very frustrating) or your computer can't run in as you wish, then just don't buy it.

If you like it, you can pledge for an starter package or wait until the game is more developed and buy it when it's on a place you like. Done. You don't need to invest anything more and nobody is forcing you to do anything.

Definitely a huge point in their favor.
Yeah… people buying today should not complain.  They know it’s still in Alpha after all this time and can literally try before they buy.

More importantly, people who participate in the free fly weekend can simply keep their wallet firmly under control and *not* pledge any money for anything.  They can simply wait until the game is further complete, or dare I say it, finished.

Guys, they already have enough money to complete multiple games; let's not do their begging-for-money for them.  It just turns these kind of threads into shilled advertisements.  Let RSI pay for advertising here; MMORPG.com *might* appreciate some income, too.

That's easy, the defenders have no other games on which to pin their hopes and dreams on, so they double down on this or others perpetually in development.

Playing an incomplete game isn't my idea of fun, but people do all sorts of things I personally don't enjoy, like eating sushi (yuck) so there we are.
