Since coming back for EoD, I have played some Strike Missions, truth be told the attitude around them is exponentially better than raids, they are more like 10 person fractals.
I mean, I don't have any of the required masteries unlocked to make any use of Strike Missions, I need to do the Story to Unlock the Mastery's, which I have not done, but I decided to give them a try, and overall, the vibe and feel with Strike Missions is much more laid back and casual friendly than Raids ever where.
So, I can see why they became much more popular among the GW2 crowed.

I think the attitude around them is substantially better than Fractals. Fractals weren't great before I went on break years ago, and they're actually atrocious now. Like, worse than raids were back then.
Eesh, when did this game become Alacrity/QB/Scourge/dps and nothing else? Wasn't like that a few years ago.
I really love GW2, but I feel like a general consensus amongst the playerbase (including myself) is a meandering record of creating then abandoning content.
So many times we've been told that they're going to support X mode or system only for it to be abandoned.
Not saying this is exclusively an ArenaNet problem, but they certainly do it the most.
I really hope they support Strike Missions and add more Fractals moving forward.

Eh. I think that the primary thing that ruined Fractals for me... was the new fractals. The old ones were all approachable and pretty quick. As they were intended to be. The new ones are all more difficult, and most of them take way longer than they should. The result is that an activity that should take 30-45 minutes pugging a daily run, takes substantially longer and is substantially more frustrating. I would have been happier if they'd never added a new Fractal beyond the Thaumanova one.

Eh? What you smoking ?
Fractals used to be 4 instances, with a progressively harder fight, and ending with a pain in the ass boss.
I mean, imagine needing to do, Snowblind, then Mai Trin, then Atherblade, and finally Cliffside, to have done 1 fractal.

You're missing the sweet middle phase when they split those up, but before the pain in the ass new fractals were added. That was peak fractals. And that phase you're missing lasted so long that I genuinely forgot that fractals used to work the way you describe.
Also, some of the new fractals can genuinely, IMO, be worse individually than a chain used to be.

Some of them are a bit of a slog, no joke, and would do well to be split in half, I'll give you that.
But, keep in mind, I stay with T2. I accept that I play so infrequently, and even then, when I do play, it's casual AF, so, I am not going to build up the memory skill to deal with how the various instabilities work to move up to T3 and T4.
Do I gather with the group, do I run away solo, am I supposed to slap my right ass cheek as I attack the mob from the left side only, or am I supposed to slap my left ass cheek as I attack from the right side only.
I know it's not like that.. but might as well be, as far as I am concerned.
So maybe it's a lot worse the higher you go, at T2, they are often not that bad, not even Shattered Observatory is that bad on T2. and IMHO that is the worst one, of the long ones.

Well, it seems some people are upset about the patch.
Since it seems to be the same people that wanted raids.. I feel nothing for their pain.

Err. As far as I can tell, people are upset with the patch because the balance team are imbeciles. The worst one probably being the banner changes, which turned them from valuable stat buffs into short duration boon pulses, AND reverted them to the old system of having to carry banners to move them.
I ultimately just stopped reading the notes partway through because it was getting ridiculous. Lots of changes, almost all of them nerfs.

This change, like many others on the list, only affect a very small group of people, mainly those that do raids and T4 fractals. Obviously they are a very loud and crybaby demographic, but also very small numerical wise.
Personally I loved that they removed the damn near perma-stealth from Deadeye, not even other thieves like to fight against that level of cheese.
But the harsh reality is, regardless if anyone likes this or not, if the build system is so convoluted that the dev's themselves don't quite understand it, or can't figure it out quickly and easily, it needs to be trashed, and a new, more intuitive, easy to understand system needs to be put in place.

The Deadeye change was good because the class is cancer. I agree. Giving a stealth class an elite skill that lets them remove the Revealed debuff designed to make them tolerable in the first place is uh... a choice.
LOL. now the sods on Reddit are crying about voting with their Wallet.. LOL.
Truth is, chances are the raiders never were the ones funding the game anyway, so, that's a nothing burger.
They are also crying about not doing the content to make it appear dead! LOL!
If they all left, all that would happen is Anet would use that to justify getting rid of raids, and putting legendary armor into strike missions or something along those lines.
I am legit loving the tears on this one, seeing all the people that 7 years ago who told me to suck it up and deal or GTFO, now crying like little bitches.
Might want to follow their own advice, Learn to Play, Adapt to the Changes, or GTFO.

They aren't good changes. That said, I've never boycotted a game for balance reasons, and I reckon I never will, because I'm just not on a skill level where that matters. The only time I've stopped playing content as such is when they removed all the bunker gear stats from PvP, and that's because it removed my crutches and made the mode simply unplayable for me. They demonstrated that they didn't want anyone other than glass cannons with inhuman reflexes.
I'm not playing any online games at the moment though. Quite invested in my new Fire Emblem, and it is stupid good.

Been enjoying the Festival in GW2, and Loving the Current Endless Stream of Salt.
I wager some players will quit over this, but nothing like what went down with HoT.
In any case, I stand by what I said, if the system is so complex and convoluted that the dev team directed to work on balance can't understand it, the system needs to be trashed and remade into a far more intuitive and easy to understand system.
Perhaps this might be Anet's wake up call to streamline and simplify their system, so it can be easily understood.

Err, coming off the incredible build system of the first game, I've always felt like the Guild Wars 2 system was too dumbed down, only better than the competition because they aren't even trying. I'd hate to see what depth it has go away in the name of balance and streamlining.

Meh, when you have a trait system if you pop off meta you are 10x less damage, that's not a deep or complex system, that's giving players the illusion of depth, when there really is only one way.
It's like giving someone 20 doors to choose from, but only 3 are worth opening, the other 17 doors are just distractions and give the illusion of choice and vastness that is not really there.
But in any case, again, if the people who's job it is, is to work out balance, and they don't a full understanding of the system, or could not figure it out enough while working on it to grasp how to make it ideally better, the system should be scrapped and redone in a far more intuitive way that can be understood better by the very people tasked with taking care of it.
That should just be base standard.
